“Lily, I love you…”
“I’ll be waiting for your reply at the school’s rooftop, so please... please come.”
There I was, waiting for Lily, my beloved childhood friend, at the rooftop of our school building. During our recess, I confessed to her. Now, I'm looking forward to her answer. Walking left and right, repeatedly contorting and rubbing the skin of my palms, my excitement made me more anxious.
Come to think of it, it’s been eight years since my family moved here in Philippines from Japan.
My father is a Japanese while my mother is a Filipina. The two of them met in Japan when my mother had her vacation.
“Lily, I can still recall that day I met you.”
Our first encounter was on the day my family moved to our new house. She was always cheerful and energetic, had a long black hair and an average height. To me, she was a princess; it was love at first sight. We are now in our tenth grade of our school year and even share the same age: sixteen.

“Time sure passed quickly, Lily.”
----------------------------------------
Patiently, I waited for her. Until the goodbyes of student going home turned into a silent night. Lily never came.
“It’s already 8pm. Lily... Where are you?.” My eyes drooped, my paces became heavier; sadness swallowed me. “I guess, she’s not coming.” Looking up, my eyes stared at the evening sky.
My parents are probably angry with me coming home this late.
“My love is one-sided, huh.” Tears began to fall. Using my hands, I wiped my eyes. My heart slowly ached as if it was being pierced by a sword. “Why? Why did this happen?”
So, this is what it feels to be heartbroken.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have confessed to her.” Staring at my right hand, I was thinking what would happen if I never told her my feelings.
How should I face her tomorrow?
“Ah. I hate this.” In my anger, I made a fist with my hands. “Please, let me live in another world...”
I want to escape reality.
“PLEASE, LET TRUCK-KUN CRASH INTO ME!!!”
Suddenly, the place quickly became brighter, as if the sun is about to end this world with me at the ground zero. As I raised my head towards the sky, I saw…
A freaking airplane flying towards me.
