Proluge- Immoral Birth

Proluge- Immoral Birth

“John what have you done?!” Sandy Bailers soon to be Sandy Walker, could only look at the man she came to love with awe and horror.

John Walker the man in front of her, smiled sadly “Well, I have created a whole new race of intelligent beings, haven’t I?” He said with a small plastic grin. She scowled at him, how could he joke after doing this?

“Stop joking around and think of the moral implications of this!” She cried at the verge of tears, she had loved him with her whole heart and knew him no better than herself.

The man she knew as John would have never done this without thinking through the pros and cons before doing something. Even then, he knew that this sort of thing was wrong and wouldn’t dare touch anything to do with the concept, why…why would he do this?

John sighed “I know, I know. I weighed in my options and this was the only one I had left. I’m so sorry Sandy, but if I didn’t do as they said, I couldn’t let them harm you or…” He trailed off, the dark rings and the heavy bags under his eyes spoke of how much of a toll this took on him. John collapsed into his black office chair and stared blankly at the floor.

Sandy approached him and wrapped her arms around him, “It’s going to be okay, we’ll think a way out of this, just like we always do.”

The man dejectedly shook his head “I got too curious and too deep into my research. This one here is only the last creature I made.” The room went eerily quiet.

The thing that floated in a glass tube of green goo behind John’s chair, twitched as if reacting to the sudden silence. The sound of hissing filled the room as the sludge began to drain from the tube and the creature opened its reptilian eyes, brimming with intelligence.
