An explosion of dust erupted as I made contact with the ground, my body folded unreactive mimicking the shape of the floor. I clearly didn't expect the drop. Dusting myself off I attempt to ignite my lantern to birth light into a room that has seen darkness for time unknown.
Markings painted with precision on the surrounding walls bled into my vision revealing what looked like topography of an alien world met an illustration of a proud bird boasting an impressive wingspan. Squinting my eyes I notice that there are object similar to what we use today from desks and chairs to other items shrouded in mystery that decorated various surfaces.
Jackpot...
Ive finally found a site untampered, I can easy turn a profit with all this useless crap.
'Heyyyyyyy!' a voice squeaked from the skylight.
'Thought you’d stopped this sorta stuff but I can see you’ve managed to pull yourself from your pigsty and crusty socks?'
I shot an evil glance under the guise of darkness.
‘That is a myth… a rank one at that’ I sighed
The girl slowed her descent into my treasure trove dampening her fall with her bony ass. 'Female' was a petite female standing around 5 foot, she cut her hair short making it easier to pass as a boy hoping to avert the interest of some ne’er do wells.

She tended to wear a wild grin that could cut the atmosphere in a room full of tension but a posture of a timid and exhausted child. 'Female saw herself as my little sister truth is she was an orphan like myself who was raised in a village from the south. Orphans were fairly common, having offspring seemed like a death sentence to those soft enough to keep them. The extra effort and resources required either killed them or forced them to palm the poor souls onto others.
Humanity never fails to surprise me on how cruel we can be to one another so I’ll leave it to your imagination.
’what do people even find interesting about this junk?’ Female held a metallic rod with a weird fin and mechanism that clicked upon applying pressure.
A crunch sounded as he stepped towards me crying louring my face beetroot red.
‘For fuck sake careful!’
She raised the now broken artifact, donning the silhouette of what seemed to be a fruit.
‘it’s just a glass stone or it was’
I returned my attention from its distractor fingering and thumbing the metallic box on the wall managing to open it with some persuasion.
id seen these fashioned in similar constructs but this time was different a faint glow seemed to bleed through the dusty relic. Excitedly I pulled at the brittle handle to its right.
My equilibrium now disturbed the room shook as if now alive. The darkness subsidised met with a cacophony of mechanised thrumming, sparks and brilliant light.
This was short lived as the bright lights turned red causing them to pivot in a recurring 360 motion. The circular desk in the centre moved on its own revealing a hatch on the floor with stairs that led into a labyrinth that you would only expect children’s adventure story’s.
’What the fuck just happened!?’ Females eyes wide with terror as if witnessing a ghost.
