Hey Diary,
Hi! Hello! Welcome to my house! You are my new diary, after my last one met with an unfortunate accident yesterday involving my little sister trying to read it, and lightning magic.
But she has LEARNED HER LESSON and will NEVER DO IT AGAIN under PENALTY OF DEATH.
Anyways.
I shall introduce myself. I am Cali Shenanigans, a neko living in Fish, a town near the center of Owonyan. I’m nineteen, and live with my parents and sister in our flat above Mom’s diner. I was the first person in town to figure out how to get two magical specialties, so I have lightning and charm magic.
Well, ok, I didn't “figure it out”, I couldn't decide if I wanted pink hair more than I wanted lightning magic, so I chose both at the same time. I thought the System would give me one or the other, but it gave me both. With lightning as primary, so I ended up with yellow hair and pink ears, which is still pretty cute.
My job is mostly helping Dad. We kinda own a zoo. Well, Mom calls it a zoo. But they’re all working animals. Like, we have two work horses, and two giant snails, then a pack of guard dogs, and one jackalope who thinks he’s a guard dog, and we have eight chickens, and a cockatrice who takes care of the chickens. In the forest outside of town there are a couple giant ferrets, a herd of deer, and some snakes who are always willing to help us if we need help. And in winter a pack of icecats always visits us.

Anyways, I help out with them. Sometimes I help Mom with the diner, but I really don't like to. Wisp, my sister who absolutely hasn't read this far, is way more interested in cooking than I ever was.
And that… is about it. I wish I could say I'm gonna fill this diary with so many epic adventures and fun things, but… I probably won't. I never go anywhere. I've never even been to the city. I was born in this town, and I'll probably die here, having never done anything exciting.
I don't mind, usually. I like the people and animals here in town. Taking care of animals is fun. But, there’s a whole world out there, y’no? Books talk about deserts and glaciers, and the creatures that live in those places. I mean, the icecats have seen more things than I have. And they just climb up and down a mountain every year.
Just, being stuck in one place is kinda… sad.
My cousins went to the city to learn. But at fifteen I said I wanted to work with animals for the rest of my life, so I got a permit to use charm magic on them and an official salary from Dad instead of just an allowance. That’s all I needed. Yay me.
If I could go back in time, I'd tell myself to say I wanted to become a veterinarian.
But oh well. My cousins are coming back this week, so I won't be as bored.
