The days following Tyson’s acceptance into the Immortal Army were filled with rigorous training and new challenges. Although he had proven himself, he knew this was only the beginning. He needed to earn the respect and trust of his fellow soldiers, and to do that, he had to excel in every task set before him.
Tyson’s thoughts often drifted to Lend and their unborn daughter. Each night, he would take a moment to look at the small locket Lend had given him before he left, containing a picture of her. It was his talisman, a reminder of why he was fighting and what he had to return to.
One morning, Captain Aelar summoned Tyson to his office. As Tyson entered, he noticed another figure standing beside the captain – a tall, muscular man with a stern face and piercing blue eyes.
“Tyson,” Captain Aelar began, “this is Lieutenant Kael. He’s one of our most skilled tacticians and will be overseeing your integration into our special operations unit.”
Kael stepped forward, extending a hand. “Welcome, Tyson. I’ve heard much about your performance during the trials. We could use someone with your determination and skill.”
Tyson shook Kael’s hand firmly. “Thank you, sir. I’m ready to do whatever it takes.”
Kael nodded. “Good. Your first mission with us will be a reconnaissance operation. We’ve received reports of a growing threat in the western territories – a band of rogue mercenaries causing havoc in the villages. We need to assess the situation and determine their strength and intentions.”

Tyson’s heart raced with anticipation. This was his chance to prove his worth beyond the training grounds. He spent the next few days preparing for the mission, honing his skills and familiarizing himself with the territory.
On the morning of the mission, Tyson and a small team of seasoned soldiers set out under Kael’s command. The journey to the western territories was arduous, but Tyson remained focused, drawing strength from the thought of his family.
As they approached the first village, they found it in ruins, smoke still rising from the charred remains of homes. Tyson’s anger flared, but he kept it in check, knowing they needed to stay focused on the mission.
They split into smaller groups to cover more ground. Tyson moved silently through the village, his senses alert. Suddenly, he heard voices coming from a nearby building. He signaled to the others and approached cautiously.
Peering through a crack in the wall, Tyson saw a group of mercenaries gathered around a table, discussing their next target. He listened intently, memorizing every detail. Just as he was about to signal for a retreat, one of the mercenaries noticed his presence.
“Intruder!” the mercenary shouted, drawing his weapon.
Tyson sprang into action, engaging the mercenary in a fierce battle. The clash of steel echoed through the village as the rest of Tyson’s team joined the fight. Despite being outnumbered, they fought with determination and skill, eventually overpowering the mercenaries.
Breathing heavily, Tyson looked around at his comrades. They had successfully neutralized the immediate threat, but their mission was far from over. Kael approached him, a look of approval on his face.
“Well done, Tyson. You’ve proven yourself yet again. We have the information we need. Let’s return to Ultima and plan our next move.”
As they made their way back to the fortress, Tyson couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. He had faced his first real test in the field and emerged victorious. But more importantly, he had forged alliances with his fellow soldiers, proving that he was a valuable member of the Immortal Army.
