(General POV)
At the beach, Kid Flash reveled in demonstrating his speed, racing around the shoreline faster than the eye could follow while intricately tracing lines in the sand. With a playful quip, he challenged anyone to try and catch him, his laughter echoing as he zipped past.
Meanwhile, Robin and Kaldur engaged in a friendly sparring match, their martial arts skills on full display as they traded blows with practiced precision. Their movements were fluid and calculated, each strike met with a swift counter as they pushed each other to their limits.
As for Megan and Superboy, they trailed along the sandy beach, enjoying the serenity it provided. Superboy took the opportunity to explore his superhuman strength, effortlessly lifting large rocks and rearranging them along the shoreline. Megan watched in awe, her cheeks flushing with admiration at his display of power, unable to contain the soft sounds of wonder escaping her lips.
Aiden attempted to rally the team to participate in a common activity, but Megan and Superboy politely declined, expressing their desire to explore the beach further. However, Kaldur, Kid Flash, and Robin agreed to a race, with Robin and Aiden utilizing a makeshift speedboat conjured by Aiden's eldritch construct, while the other two relied on their natural abilities.
The outcome was clear as Kid Flash and Kaldur brought back a soaked Robin and Aiden ashore, both having sunk into the water as Aiden exhausted himself with the complexities of his creation.
"How was that not part of an official technique?" Aiden couldn't help but wonder to himself since conjuring a speedboat had been demanding.
"I thought you were the Master of the Mystic Arts," Wally quipped, his voice carrying a hint of disappointment as Aiden had run out of energy quickly. "I thought magic should be more fun than that."
Aiden couldn't help but roll his eyes at Wally's jest. "Magic is fun," he retorted, conjuring small basking seats with his Sling Ring. "But I've hardly rested ever since I arrived, and honestly, I feel like every part of my being is broken."
"Hey, Aiden," Kaldur called out as he sat down. "Tell us more about yourself."
"Despite the whole 'I am the Master of the Mystic Arts' debut, I'm sure there is more to you than just that title," Robin added.
"Yeah, there is," Aiden replied, feeling a surge of excitement that his new friends in DC were actually interested in getting to know him. Was this his chance to share about his mundane existence and the fact that he knew about them from the comics?
"No, that would be simply inconvenient," Aiden muttered silently to himself.
"As you know, I have referred to myself as the M-O-M-A," Aiden started as Wally, Robin, and Kaldur surrounded him. "Well, it's not just a title, but it's also a trademark. One that I must constantly live up to with my powers."
"That together with defending the title of Sorcerer Supreme," Aiden added, his voice carrying a hint of determination.
"Whoa!" Robin exclaimed. "I thought that title already belongs to someone else."
"Yeah, Doctor Fate," Kaldur clarified.
"It did," Aiden replied knowingly, aware that no one was currently wearing the Helmet of Fate, with Kent Nelson having it locked away in the Tower of Fate. "But where is he now?"
"The world needs an active Sorcerer Supreme all the time, not one that's currently out of commission," Aiden continued. "You have no idea what threats lie out there."
"And you think that you are the right guy for the job because?" Robin inquired skeptically. "Don't get me wrong, but. You claim that you are powerful, but all I have seen you do is create constructs, almost like those of Green Lanterns, only that yours feel more raw even by just looking at them."
"You have done nothing else to support your claims," Kaldur added, his tone echoing Robin's skepticism.
"Nothing you guys know of," Aiden corrected, his voice carrying a hint of mystery. "One day, you'll come to understand just why I am a protege to the entire Justice League."
"I'm not sure I'll ever understand that," Robin mumbled under his breath.
"If you say so then," Kaldur said, acknowledging Aiden's words.
"Alright," Aiden agreed, sensing the skepticism but choosing not to dwell on it. "Well, like I said, there's more to me beyond the arena of magic."
"I love drawing, programming, and writing, which makes me the perfect guy to introduce you guys to music out of this world, tell you stories that will leave you begging for more, and, build apps that could make the Team independent independent from the League's resources." Aiden introduced himself. "And going back to magic, a bit, I can't wait to realize dimension travel and take you guys to experience all this world has to offer."
"Wait, what!" Kid Flash exclaimed. "You can travel to other dimensions?"
"And time," Aiden confirmed, gesturing to a relic tightly fitted to his chest. "This is the Eye of Agamotto. I'm not entirely sure of its capabilities (in this world) yet, but it has the ability to see the future and travel through time, in addition to possessing powerful attacks and defenses."
"What about the cloak you wear?" Kaldur wondered aloud. "Is it special too? I'm only asking because you never seem to leave it behind."
"Well, it's called the Cloak of Levitation, and it can fly, besides being sentient," Aiden explained.
"Another unproven claim." Robin muttered. "We haven't seen you fly even once."
"Despite the notion, magic takes it time." Aiden explained. "If I unleashed all my potent abilities at once, I would become something different. Someone you wouldn't recognize."
"Sentient as in, it can think for itself?" Kid Flash dialled back to the Cloak.
"Exactly," Aiden declared.
"What about the ring and the mask?" Robin asked, curiosity evident in his voice.
"This is called the Sling Ring," Aiden lifted his right hand to reveal a ring that even he found peculiar. "And it's a conduit for performing magic."
"At least that's how it's supposed to be, but it happens to be containing my power instead," Aiden added with a hint of uncertainty.
"Now you are just bluffing," Kid Flash said with a laugh. "You can't possibly be that powerful that you need something to contain your magic."
"He is telling the truth," To Aiden's surprise, Robin defended with stoicism. "Batman said so."
"I don't want to start that argument right now," Kid said, alluding to Robin's tendency to believe in everything Batman said.
"The mask is just, well, a mask," Aiden added, dismissing the topic with a wave of his hand while thinking about all the other items he may possess.
He wondered whether he had the Orb of Agamotto, the Axe of Angarruumus, and, the Wand of Watoomb, but he knew DC had more that he could "borrow": like the Emerald Eye of Ekron, and the Destiny of Timothy Hunter.
"And that's the basics about Young Justice," Aiden finished, embracing the title the Justice League had decided for his codename.
"Yeah, no one is calling you that," Robin shrugged. "It makes you feel like a puppet for the Justice League."
"And the Team isn't?" Aiden retorted, pointing out the irony Robin wasn't acknowledging.
"That reminds me of someone," Kaldur said, casting a meaningful glance at Kid and Robin.
"He was in my mind the entire time," Robin nodded back at Kaldur, implying their next move.
"Should the rest tag along?" Wally wondered aloud.
"We are a team. I don't see why not," Robin answered. "Besides, I'm sure everyone is in the mood to get out of this prison in the middle of nowhere."
"What are you guys talking about?" Aiden inquired, eager to be included in the cryptic conversation the others were having.
"Kid, mind informing the two lovebirds over there?" Robin asked Kid.
"Lovebirds? No way," Kid disagreed with a quick, continuous shake of his head. "They are just two strangers getting to know each other. Nothing's been decided yet."
Megan was taking advantage of the sandy terrain, noting all the distinctions of the sand compared to what she was acquainted with on Mars. She, accompanied by Superboy, took their time to immerse themselves more into nature, listening to the waves of the ocean crashing to the shore and observing bizarre creatures digging into the sand.
Superboy had never felt better as he basked in the warmth of the sun, feeling power sizzling within him. Megan, on the other hand, used it as a chance to demonstrate her telekinetic abilities, effortlessly lifting handfuls of sand into the air and collecting crabs and shells in the process.
In a rather unpleasant situation earlier, she had shown the Team her ability to establish psychic links and communicate with them telepathically. But they had immediately forgiven her for establishing the link without asking for permission first.
"You know what this is," Wally said as he zipped to Megan's location, collecting one of her shells and attempting to shadow Superboy. "A souvenir."
"A souvenir? It's beautiful," Megan smiled at Kid. "I'll cherish it."
"Yeah, cherish this moment when yours truly handed it to you," Kid said as he handed over the shell to Megan.
"Thanks, Wally," Megan smiled shyly, her cheeks flushing with a hint of embarrassment.
"The team is about to run a quick errand. Are you guys in?" Kid asked both Megan and Superboy.
"I'm in," Superboy agreed, and Megan nodded in agreement.
"I hope it's something that will remind me of my usual self," Superboy added. "I'm not used to feeling this at peace."
With a wink, Kid responded, "You bet."
