A cloudy sun covered the afternoon sky along with a light breeze could be felt throughout the city of Willow.
The sight of colorful autumn leaves falling on the bright roofs of the locals, combined with the chattering of local stalls, and stores hurrying along their day gave the city a quaint and warm feeling.
Nearby at a local school, not much could be heard, usually the sounds of children running around and teens talking on their phones would be prominent but today was different. It wouldn't take someone long to realize why schools are so empty on this given day all it takes is a look at all the posters and signs all over the streets of Willow.
"Primal online! the first ever full body MMORPG" could be seen written in large font all over them followed by many quotes ranging from "An entirely new world" to "the future of entertainment will change forever". In fact, even without all the signs all one needs to do is turn on the news and they will see nothing but information about this soon to be released game that seems to be shaking the world.
"Less than 7 hours until Primal is for sale!" a young male news anchor said with so much excitement he almost jumped off his seat. His actions got a chuckle from the middle-aged female co-anchor sitting opposite of him.
"yes, yes everyone the most anticipated game of the last century which has been teased for over 5 years will be released tonight at 8 pm. But while we wait let's look at some preview footage and images released by the developers earlier today" the female anchor continued after her co-worker.
Soon after a video was played showcasing countless beautiful scenes within the game, from all kinds of weather to beautiful architecture, the scenes were enough to make the fans drool in excitement. Not long after, images of different characters with shining weapons and armor began to appear showcasing some of the available classes within.
The excitement on the faces of men everywhere while dreaming of being knights could only be matched by the glittering eyes of girls everywhere when the beast tamer class showed up showing a little fox familiar adorable enough to melt hearts.
Primal online was also hyped for many working adults due to a completely different reason, that being the time difference between ingame and the real world. Every 4 hours inside primal online is equivalent to just 1 hour in the real world, this means that many adults planned to use the game for some well deserved rest in between work shifts
While all this was going on, inside the quiet library of the earlier school a single boy could be seen flipping through a textbook. "Chemistry vol4" could be seen on the cover and not far away a couple more books could be seen already finished and stacked up, from algebra to world history clearly this boy had already been here for a while.
This 16 year old young man is Wyatt Hayes.
with light blueish hair and eyes that clearly needed a break, most people would consider Wyatt a hard-working honor student with a bright future ahead of him. Obviously, someone who worked so hard had some great goals to accomplish is what most would assume, but truthfully it couldn't be more off.
Why did Wyatt study so much? well because that's what his elders told him to do, the only problem is he might have taken this advice a little too seriously. Never really taking time for friends or hobbies it wasn't hard for him to fall into a repetitive cycle in life, in fact, Wyatt paid so little attention to others that he might be the only person in the city of Willow to be completely oblivious when it comes to the news about primal online.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Ignoring the world around him, Wyatt continued to sit in that same spot studying for the next 4 hours the same way he did yesterday, the day before that, and even the day before that and that's exactly what he also planned to do tomorrow as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Packing his bag after finishing the hours-long study session, Wyatt got up and started stretching, waking his legs which had practically gone numb throughout the afternoon. Throwing on his hoodie to keep warm from the evening breeze Wyatt left the school and headed home.
Passing the busy shopping district to pick up some vegetables his mom asked him to pick up Wyatt greeted some of the stall owners.
"Hey, Wyatt" a middle aged man waved him over to his stall, which seemed to contain a mix of many different fruits.
"Hi Edwin" Wyatt gave a slight smile as he greeted the man
"Coming home so late again huh? you should really get a proper jacket Wyatt, especially with winter nearing" Edwin sighed while looking at the teen in a loose hoodie.
"I'll be fine ed, ill make sure to wear a proper jacket before winter comes. And I have to stay late to keep up with my studying, it's hard to focus at home with my little siblings running around" Wyatt replied with a face clearly showing how tired he is.
This reply got a giggle out of the older man " Kids will be kids, luckily mine are all past the early stages. My oldest starts high school next year I can only hope he learned a little from your work ethic" Edwin stated, the second half coming with a sigh and a shake of his head.
"I'm sure he'll be fine, school isn't that hard and he's a bright kid" Wyatt reassured the man while grabbing a banana from the stand for a snack later.
"See ya later Ed!" Wyatt waved his hand while walking away continuing his journey home.
Although he saw posters for Primal online, Wyatt didn't think much of it assuming it was no different than the hyped up movies that would come out every couple of months.
Roughly 15 minutes later, Wyatt was home.
The city of Willow would be considered mostly middle class nothing super fancy but nothing awful either and Wyatt's family could be considered right in the middle of that. His mom works at a nursing home taking care of the elderly while Wyatt's father runs a local mechanic shop making some decent money. Although they definitely weren't the biggest spenders, they made enough to have a decent condo home with 4 bedrooms.
"Mom, I'm home" Wyatt called while entering his house.
"Welcome back Wy, Just leave the vegetables on the kitchen counter" His mother replied from another room.
Putting down the veggies and grabbing the banana, Wyatt headed upstairs to his room
"Vrooooom I'm a race car beep beep" the childlike yelling could be heard in the upstairs hallway as Wyatt turned the corner bumping into one of the kids. Both kids shared Wyatt's blue hair although slightly darker and a lot messier from all their playing.
"HAHAHAHA I won the race" the little girl shouted with a bright smile
"No fair, Wy bumped me that doesn't count!" the boy argued back
"Pfft professional racers need to always pay attention to traffic" the girl said while posing as some sort of hero
Of course, these are Wyatt's little siblings the twins Miles and Mia.
Ignoring the rowdy children, Wyatt entered his room putting his bags away and changing into some more comfortable clothing. About an hour passed as Wyatt showered and cleaned up his room before his mom called him downstairs for dinner.
"Hey, dad" Wyatt greeted his father while taking a seat at the table. Dinner was a simple chicken and rice dish with some veggies on the side.
"How was school Wyatt?" his father replied looking up from his newspaper as he took his seat.
"Meh, same old same old I guess, nothing really happens" Wyatt shrugged while taking a bite of chicken.
"Nothing much except most of the day being canceled because of this game everyone talking about huh? I hear they are even planning on canceling school and some work tomorrow since they don't expect anyone to go" his father continued.
"Honey, is that true?" Wyatt's mother asked with a surprised face while getting a nod from her husband.
"In that case, we should take the chance to visit my sister Emma! it's been a couple of months since the kids have seen their cousins" Said Wyatt's mother already starting to plan the families day off.
After dinner, Wyatt headed back to his room where he studied a bit more before heading to bed early in preparation for tomorrows family trip.
"Sigh, there goes my plan of studying tomorrow"
