“Dad, do you really have to go back already?” said the young boy preventing his dad from leaving and with his eyes becoming slightly red from withholding his tears. He didn’t want to have to already say goodbye to his father, knowing that it would probably be another three or four months until he can see him once again.
“Yes, I do and please don’t make this harder for me than it already it is. You know that my job is very important and that I do try my best to be able to see you all whenever I’m free. Now please, Eric, go back to bed before you wake your uncle and sister, it will pain me too much to see your sister whom you know much better than I do, will throw a tantrum waking the whole neighborhood.” Replied the boy’s father who seemed to be in a worse shape than the boy and is already letting out a few tears from having to say goodbye to his family once again.
The boy embraces his dad with a grandeur bear hug which the father returns equally with both of them yearning to be able to stay together for longer but alas all good things must come to an end…
PAH!
“Dad…what was that…”
“I...I don’t really know”
The atmosphere of the house quickly changed from loving, caring and sadness to eerie, quiet and ominous.
Both the boy and his dad didn’t dare to make any movements and were as silent as can be since they both feared for the worst. There were no sounds for a while until they heard a faint tune, almost like
“Whistling?” the boy softly whispered to his dad in order to be able to continue listening to the almost inaudible but what seemed to be whistling.
Slowly the two doors behind the dad opened up revealing two bewildered faces one of them his eight year old daughter and the other his brother-in-law from which they both asked, “What was that?”
Before the dad even had a chance to answer someone else decided to answer for him
BANG
Following the sound of a gunshot, there was a sinister laughter coming from the other side of the house accompanied by a creepy voice which said, “Ohhhh Misterrrrr Furrrorremmm Wherrreee Arrreee Youuuu? Don’t you want to come out and playyy? Don’t make this game of hide and seek toooo hard for me now!”
BANG
Again another gunshot resounded throughout the house but the dad was no longer in a daze and now that being quiet no longer mattered he swiftly ushered his kids back into their rooms and told the boy, “Jack, take your sister to the safe spot quickly now!”
Both kids were scared straight even though they have been told that one day something like this may happen, they never believed it would.
The young boy grasped the situation and quickly ran to his sister grabbing her hand and taking her to the designated hiding spot but she fought back bawling her eyes out she beckoned her father, “Dad come with us! Please Dad and Uncle G! Please just come wit”
“Stop that now hurry up it will be fine!” the boy shouted mustering all his strength to bring the girl with him. “Dad will be fine and so will Uncle G don’t worry so please come on, Eve, let’s go.” He hurriedly picked her up now and forcibly took her with him.
All the while this was happening the mad man continuously was firing his gun without ever seeming to stop and still continuously shouting things such as, “Mr.Furorem you’re not being very kind you know? I’m starting to run out of bullets. Why don’t you just come out already please?” “I’m getting angry now Mr.Furorem and no one likes me when I’m angry!” “Mr.Furorem it seems like I’ve made a slight mistake and now I’m only left with a single bullet, well then let’s make it count. Right?”
The boy and his sister were now in a very small room behind a wall in the boy’s room about three by three by six feet. The boy was trying to comfort his sister, embracing her and holding onto her tightly but not to the point that it was uncomfortable for her. He did so as if he was going to lose her just like their mother.
She slowly quieted down and stopper her crying and returns the embrace with her brother as she also raises her head and looks straight into what she knew were her brother’s eyes that were also looking back at her, although there was no light in the small room she had a feeling that just told her so. His reassuring gaze telling her it would all be okay. She asked him very quietly, “Why, Why is this happening again to us. I don’t want to lose Dad or Uncle G the same way we lost Mom”

The brother knew exactly what she meant seeing as how their mother was murdered in the night in a similar situation to this one except it was two years ago. He didn’t know how to respond as he also questioned this to himself thinking, “I don’t understand what we have done or not done to deserve this…I just want to live in peace with my family and be able to prevent events such as this from happening.”
The boy responded to his sister, “I don’t know why but I do know one thing sis and it’s that I need to become stronger in order to protect you and everyone else I love so that when I’m older I can take revenge on those who have harmed us.”
As the boy said this he felt an emotion that’s he’s never felt before. It felt odd, almost sinister. Yet it felt good at the same time, the thought that he would enact revenge on anyone who ever messed with his loved ones. He imagined doing the same to them but worse, breaking into their homes and massacring everyone inside of there starting with the eldest and ensuring that everyone else inside was there to witness each and every one of the cruel deaths that awaits their family and themselves included.
The sister said after a while, “I’ll become stronger too, so you don’t have to do this all alone. We’re family Jack.”
The boy snapped out of his imagination trying to put away all those gruesome thoughts. He and his sister were both told ever since they could remember to never think of such thoughts especially because of who they are. The boy never understood why they said this but just did as told by their Uncle.
Clang
They both heard an all too familiar sound that they knew from training and exercises with their Uncle. The sound of his sword being unsheathed from its scabbard.
After that it was completely silent once again until they heard their father say faintly from out in the corridor still, “He’s near, I still feel his presence Ger.”
BANG
“Oh no! What a shame! I killed the wrong one!” The mysterious man said cynically but sad at his mistake.
The boy quickly pulled in his sister harder to prevent her from screaming out and being heard. All the while trying to prevent the tears that have already begun streaming down his cheeks.
The man began speaking once again saying, “Well then, looks like I’ll have to come see you again another time Mr.Furorem, Au revoir!”
To which the Uncle shouted, “No you don’t!”
He dashed at unimaginable speed towards the man who had just killed his brother in-law whilst raising his sword. The Uncle could see the man who had just been laughing quickly have his smile turn into a face of disbelief and fear. Absolute fear. Within a second he had crossed the corridor and slashed at the man’s body revealing a clean cut, severing the torso and upper body cleanly apart.
Pah
The boy and girl could only imagine what that sound was but they both knew that whatever just happened and what made that sound wasn’t pleasant.
They heard footsteps coming towards the door which made both of them fearful and their anxiety to raise drastically
The footsteps gradually slowed down but became louder as it was still seeming to approach them but their fear and anxiety quickly washed away as they heard their Uncle say, “Jack.”
The boy murmured, “Y,Yes.”
Again the Uncle said, “Jack”
He responded louder this time, “Yes!”
The Uncle then shouted, “JACK!”
To which the boy equally said as loud...
