After the meal, Lily, her father, and her supposed mother bid farewell to the group, sending three servants to escort their guests to their respective rooms.
Fabio followed a boy dressed in black and white, who had apparently been assigned to assist him during his stay.
The whole process had happened very quickly, and he didn't even know the boy's name, although neither of them had the freedom to converse.
The boy led him to a room on the ground floor, passing through one of the mansion's side entrances.
There, he entered a dream-like room, with a classic aesthetic befitting nobility, very spacious even with its huge furniture, and completely climate-controlled by the magical system Fabio had seen covering the entire mansion.
But instead of getting excited, Fabio raised both arms horizontally.
The accompanying boy approached him from behind, taking his body measurements before silently leaving the room, leaving Fabio alone, who had a blank look.
Silence reigned for a brief moment.
"Hey."
"..."
"Psss."
"..."
Fabio looked around after hearing the voice but didn't see anyone. However, his gaze remained fixed on one of the corners of the room.
"In the mirror."
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"..."
Near that corner, there was a full-length mirror whose frame gleamed with a black tint, forming a tree-like pattern that intertwined along the edges, overflowing with mana that at first glance seemed to blend into the surroundings but made Fabio widen his eyes.
It was a starry mana shining with a sky-blue glow, and Fabio felt it was much more powerful than Lily's, even emitting a slightly oppressive aura.
As he approached, changing his angle relative to the mirror, he began to see a person behind the glass.
"Finally, someone reacts! I was getting tired after trying to talk to the fire mage and the elementalist on the first floor."
"..."
Fabio looked down, where he could see a girl with white hair and red eyes with straight cat-like pupils. Two sharp teeth protruded from her lips, stretching downward, and faint crimson cries could be heard from her blood, flooding her body with a viscous and diffuse mana, different from that of the mirror frame.
The girl began to float inside the glass, performing little pirouettes as she watched Fabio.
"Hmm, anti-magic, huh? Quite bold, if I may say so."
Suddenly, the girl sharpened her gaze, filling the room with tangible pressure.
Then she spoke with a deep, authoritative voice.
"Put your hand on the mirror."
"..."
Fabio's muscles tensed, but at the same time, the starry mana deep in his eyes began to twist.
No matter how hard he tried, his body couldn't move.
Time passed in that strange balance.
Gradually, the pressure in the room diminished, and the girl continued to float as if nothing had happened.
"If you've left the mirror here, I suppose you want me to speak with him, don't you?"
"..."
"What do you want?"
The girl looked beyond Fabio, staring into his soul, where the purple mana was hidden.
Fabio's eyes lit up, murmuring a single phrase.
"...Help me use magic."
