Prologue

A picnic table was flung across the park into a crowd of people. The group panicked and ran in every way, leaving behind a young boy who wasn't paying attention. He was about to be crushed when a man charged at the table with all his force shoving the table out of the way and saving the boy. That man was 'Reckless Activity,' a hero prone to injuring himself. He smiled at the boy and looked up toward the one who threw the table. It was a notorious villain at the time.'Quick Kill', who often killed his opponents within a singular hit.

"Oh, if it isn't Reckless, possibly the worst of the century!" Quick Kill laughed.

Refusing to respond to his schoolyard taunt, Reckless again charged, but this time towards the villain. Quick Kill let out a sigh and readied his fists.

SLAM! Reckless tackled him to the ground. Without missing a beat, Quick Kill threw him off of him. Reckless stood already bruised and got ready to charge again.

"Seriously, you pitiful hero. I'm not here to play anymore," he said as he charged Reckless, slamming him to the ground. Reckless was getting pummeled by Quick Kill's fists without time to respond. A smile spread across the hero's face as he survived to punch after punch.

"I may be pitiful, but I am resilient!" a headbutt knocked the villain back. Both stood up and charged one another. They traded blows back and forth, which felt like hours for those who watched. Distance shouts from various crowds could be heard cheering on the hero. As each punch was thrown, it was obvious that both the hero and villain started to falter. The crowd's cheers began to change into screams of warning. Reckless looked around in worry to see the cause as a voice could be heard.

"Stop hurting him, you jerk!" the little boy Reckless saved jumped in between the fight. Reckless' pupils constricted when he saw the boy. Without a thought in his mind, he grabbed him and turned to face away from the villain. Quick Kill took this opportunity to throw even more hits at the hero.

"With bravery like that, you'll make a good hero one day," Reckless said, "I need you to run now; I've got it covered from here."

The boy took his advice, ran toward the crowd, and looked back with tears. Reckless gave a thumbs up and turned back to Quick Kill.

"This fight isn't about winning anymore." Reckless stopped a punch by grabbing Quick Kill's hand, "It's about making sure you can't hurt anyone ever again!"

The hero threw one more punch cracking the villain's ribs. Reckless' breathing was heavy, and he couldn't move his body anymore. Quick Kill picked Reckless up, threw him at the crowd, and instantly fell to the ground. The crowd cheered for the hero's victory. The boy fell onto the body of Reckless and cried.

"Don't cry, kid. I did what I wanted, and now you're safe."

"I'm sorry!" the kid wailed.

"It's alright. You want to be a hero, right?"

"Yeah...!" he said, holding back tears.

Reckless uttered his last breath with a smile, "Keep everyone safe for me, will you?"
