When Tidanos woke up he saw a ceiling and a room which he hadn’t seen for almost 100 years. The trip, like usual, was like going to sleep and waking up. As travelers weren't conscious during the process there was no way to know how much time had passed or even if time passed at all during the process as no one knew how time travel worked. The reason for this was that the time machine was created and controlled by cutting edge super quantum AI and that time travel was achieved by utilizing deep quantum properties. Therefore, there was no way for humans to observe and much less comprehend the process. The result was that no one knew how time travel worked, it just did. Like with many other technologies in the future, the only thing people properly understood was how to create the AI plus hardware that made and operated the technology. As a person trying to fix the world and humanity, Tidanos had a lot of other things to worry about in the post-apocalyptic world. He never took the time or effort to try to figure out a way to learn about the quantum reaction, as the AI was always able to create the time machine in each new timeline.
During this mental time travel Tidanos didn’t choose to travel with the 9 sensuality addicted agents like he usually did. Instead he had found a way to bring the experts he colluded with and planned with beforehand. It was they who had, on his instruction, installed the drone to kill off the agents and thus given them an opportunity to come with him instead. His new group had then time traveled back to one month before the date they usually traveled back, meaning he had a one month headstart to kill off the other agents' previous selves before their minds came back from the future.
One may think that as the other agents' future selves had died, that that was the end of them, but that was only in the last future he came from. Their previous selves from the last timeline which they traveled back from were going to once again manifest in their past bodies after one month's time. The reason he knew this was that his previous teams had had accidents before where people died midway. When they then traveled back in the next timeline they had realized that the deceased person’s self from an earlier timeline was still there in the past, enabling the others to inform that person and help them avoid being killed in that new timeline. This practically made them like immortal players in a game that could respawn no matter how many times they died.
As the other nine agents had a tendency to cause a mess and make many enemies it had happened multiple times that they had been killed part way. As a result they had learnt to recognize when this had happened without anyone telling them. So even though they couldn’t remember being killed in his last timeline, as experienced mental time travelers they would quickly figure out something was amiss if they were killed. This was especially true this time as the technology Tidanos brought was many years ahead of its time and they had no knowledge about it. Moreover, he had had conflicts with them in the past so they knew he didn’t like them very much and would like to get rid of them given the right circumstances. In order to protect themselves against this, among other things, they always spread out to make sure that at least some of them survived every round. If none of them could remember the new changes, they would come to the conclusion that he had killed them. Even if it wasn’t true, they would go after him and make sure to kill him off, just to be on the safe side. They would then make sure to, after the next time travel, kill him before his future self could wake up in the past, thereby killing him for good. Therefore, he was on a point of no return this time and had to end them properly in this timeline or he could lose his countless lifetimes of effort.
The reason he had to kill them off wasn't only to bring his other allies with him, but because those agents were never going to agree to his plan in this timeline. He knew they would try to stop him if they found out about it, because his plans this time didn’t leave any room for their activities. He didn’t even try to mention his current plans to them, because he knew how addicted they were to their messed up activities and doing what they felt like. Just like drug addicts they would do anything to get their fix and would surely kill him for even trying to do what he was about to do. The agents' “alliance” had only consisted of them letting him work on finding a way to save the world and not cause trouble for him, in exchange for him not hindering their messed up activities. But due to his current plans to fix the world requiring to put an end to such things, there was no way they would tolerate it. As a person who was more than willing to send them to hell after co-existing with them for a few lifetimes, putting an end to them was something he had been looking forward to for a long time. Now it was finally time for him to utterly destroy them, as he had found other people that were relatively reliable.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Note relatively and only relatively reliable. After countless timelines he wasn’t naive enough to trust people no matter who they were. He knew how messed up most people were deep down and how they would become after spending enough time reliving the 21st and 22nd century. He had seen many “mr., mrs. and ms. good person” turn to the dark side time and time again. Almost everyone who had participated many times had either become a monster, given up, lost their sanity, become too traumatized to continue or a combination of these. Even Tidanos himself couldn't be said to fit into society any longer either. He had turned into a person with a multi-layered personality, who no longer had personal character or felt emotions but now simply displayed and changed them to get what he was after. His logic, sense of reason, ideas and worldview were so advanced and peculiar that he could no longer be classified as sane. He did, however, compared to the other people who had also lived many lifetimes, still have certain morals or perhaps one should say principles that he had preserved since his youth.
Due to having observed many people including his new group through multiple timelines and closely observed many of their darkest secrets, he knew that these people had the morals, principles and mental fortitude to not degrade that quickly. According to his observations, it was enough to properly cooperate with him for at least one or a few rounds. Even if they for some reason turned out to be too unreliable, he had prepared certain measures to keep them in check and kill them if it was necessary. He could also travel back and try again with them for a few times if they were very close to succeeding but just needed a better attempt. Should it not work out he could always dispose of this team and rejoin his previous group. Even though things were a bit more risky than normal, he should be able to mask things up to make the nine agents not suspect him with relative ease if he had to give up on this group.
The first thing he did after adjusting to the 21st century was meeting up with the group of 9 specialists he had selected and trained in the past timeline. First they went to make money or perhaps one should say pick up money. It was a very easy task for them, as all they had to do was to follow the same old routine Tidanos and the agents used in many previous timelines. Obtains some millions each to use as “pocket change” to get a foothold in the 21st century world, was no longer difficult for Tidanos after having done it so many times.
Following they hired professional assassins to kill off the 9 sensuality addicts the post-apocalyptic organization called agents. Just like with making money, assassination was something Tidanos was all too used to at this point after all the countless previous assassinations he had orchestrated in the earlier timelines. Just like before, he made sure that they seemed like unforeseen and coincidental events and accidents and that they were all done in inconspicuous ways, of course.
It was relatively easy as the agents had no prior connection yet, so having them all die in very differing ways in their separate locations spread throughout the month should not cause anyone to suspect anything. It was especially so since no one else knew about time travel nor what role these people would play in the future. They made sure to hire and contact separate groups and individuals to dispose of each of the agents and did it anonymously in a way that was unable to be tracked with 21st Century knowledge and tech. As these people were nobodies in the eyes of society prior to their involvement with the future organization, no influential person paid attention to them. All in all it was a job well done with no loose ends. First thing on the to do list, disposing of the 9 psycho agents. Check.
