Heavy rain was falling mercilessly, accompanied by a furious gale, in the darkness of a forest at night. Abruptly, two figures emerged from the darkness of the forest, running desperately, almost tripping over the dense vegetation. They were two Pokémon, Marowak and Cubone, who seemed to be running away from something.
Before long, human silhouettes appeared around the foliage of the trees. They were uniformed men with guns in their hands, chasing the Pokémon. Once they got close enough, they shouted at the two of them:
— Stop, there's no point in running away! Stop now!

To no avail, Marowak and Cubone continued even faster.
— They won't stop? men! Weapons at the ready!
**Sounds of weapons being unlocked**
— FIRE!!!

. . .
Back to the present day. With long, serious steps, the great trainer of the city of pallets, Red, appeared, entering the entrance to the city of Lavender, carefully observing everything around him that night.
After defeating the leader of the Vermilion City gym, Lt Surge, Red continues his journey to the nearest town. When he arrived in Lavender City, everything he had heard proved to be true. The city had a strange and sinister atmosphere, very quiet, and the predominant sound was the cold wind blowing from the mountains, echoing through the city. To make matters worse, because it was located near the hills, the city was constantly shrouded in fog.
Later that evening, Red comes across a group of trainers who are passing by, and he approaches them and strikes up a conversation. After getting to know each other a little, they decide to have a Pokémon battle to liven up that cold night.
— OK, there are six people here, so we can have three 1v1 battles. Let's use some... Three Pokémon, okay?
— OKAY!!! — everyone replied.
The battles ended as soon as they began. Red beat his opponent with just one Pokémon.
— Ahh! Damn! — some trainers complained.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
— What a shit match! — said one of them.
— Ahh, it was nice, it gave some relief. — replied Red a little awkwardly.
— And that's because you only used one Pokémon, lol. — retorted a trainer.
— Yeah, lol. — said Red, even more clumsily.
Afterwards, they chatted a bit more and went to the Pokémon Centre to rest and heal their Pokémon. While they were sitting there waiting to be attended to, one of them turned to Red and asked in a slightly suspicious tone, frowning.
— Ah yes, Red, what have you come here for? Looking for some Pokémon, ghost Pokémon?
Red, looking at his suspicious face, smiles and replies:
— I'm just passing through, it was the nearest town after Vermilion, so I popped in to have a look.
The trainer felt relieved. His sceptical look turned into a friendly one and his tense shoulders relaxed.
— Good, Red. I don't suppose you know about the recent stories, do you? The Pokémon, the misunderstandings inside the tower?
— No, I didn't hear any of that, just the basics that people say about the city. — Red makes a serious face and turns to the trainer to listen better.
Red's colleague glances round, makes a serious face and begins to speak:
— Before our group arrived here, we were warned on the way that this town was having suspicious sightings in the woods near the hills, the police were called, but it seems that nothing has changed. We were also told that there were fights, confusions inside the tower, trainers were being prevented from entering certain public places in the tower, and worse, the graves of veiled Pokémon seemed to have been violated and the Pokémon were missing.
Red's serious countenance turned into one of fear and concern. And says:
— With all that, nobody did anything? — He retorted in an exalted manner.
— Exactly, that's the part that worries me the most. It's as if everyone has been... kind of... Silenced, you know, afraid to speak? — The trainer speaks anxiously
Silence hung in the air, the whole room was silent, only the distant sounds of the Pokémon center's devices working could be heard.
**End of medical appointment bell rings**
— Oops, I guess it's my turn now — Replied Red's colleague, getting up from his seat.
— We're leaving tomorrow, let's just get to know these hills and catch some Pokémon. If we find any. Don't you want to go with us to the next town, Red?
A normal person, given all these circumstances, would accept immediately, but not him. Red lowers his head for a moment and thinks about it. He looks forward thoughtfully, takes a deep breath and says smilingly:
— Thank you very much, but I'm going to stay here a bit longer, take a closer look at things.
Somehow, instead of scaring him, the whole story told to Red motivated him; his spirit of adventure was spurred on to find out what it was all about.
The next day, in the late afternoon, Red said goodbye to his colleagues. Waving to them as they left for the next town.
Later, after saying goodbye to his fellow trainers, he goes to a house near the Pokémon center to get some fresh air and think about it all. He looks around and doesn't see anyone, so he sits down on a bench and begins to travel through his thoughts.
Suddenly a voice calls out to him.
— HEY KID! What are you doing? — An old bearded man asks.

Red quickly turned away. He was surprised.
"There was no one here until now" — He thought, puzzled.
— Whatever, I think I know what it's about. Can we have a little chat, young man? - the gentleman asks Red, smiling.
