Hydra woke up, excitedly, he looked at his schedule and screamed of excitement. “Sorry mom!” He apologized loudly.
Hydra had been looking forward to this forever, he was finally going on his vacation to Paldea, and now he had a pokémon! He started to pack like it was life or death, and accidentally almost packed Gible, but then realized, and took him out. “Gible, pokéball,” Hydra told him.
Gible disappeared with a pink light into his pokéball. Hydra wrote with a pen on the pokéball, “Gible” Hydra cheered to himself, very excited for the vacation. “Mom I gotta go grab my pokédex from the professor!” Hydra told his mother.
“Okay, come back quickly!” She responded.
Hydra ran to the lab, and opened the door. “Hey professor! I’m ready for my pokédex!”
“Ah, Hydra, hello! Your pokédex is ready, here,” He said, handing him the pokédex. “I’ve colored it purple, for the trademark dragon type color,”
“Really? Thanks!” Hydra praised. He left quickly and got back home. He grabbed his suitcase and went to the airport.
While at the airport, he got “Bulbasaur Mint Gum” and a book he had needed for school. They got on the plane and landed about 7 hours later. They took a cab to their hotel, and Hydra immediately left, knowing there were Applins. He took Gible out of his pokéball and they started looking at trees, trying to find one, when something red fell on Hydras head. “Ow- it’s an Applin! Gible use dig, but use dragon claw while you’re doing it!” Hydra told Gible.
He did exactly as Hydra said, taking out the Applin quickly. “Yeah! great job Gible-“ Hydra stop talking immediately, as Gible was taken in, in bright blue light, he was evolving into a Gabite! “Gible! I mean, Gabite!” Hydra excitedly said to him. Gabite made a happy sound and Hydra caught the Applin. “I’ve heard how to evolve these! You have to give them a syrupy apple!” Hydra said excitedly. They walked to the store to get one, and as lucky as they were, they had one left. Hydra bought it, and put it next to Applin. “Isn’t it supposed to be evolving-“ He stopped talking as the Applin evolved into Dipplin, who, basically, was just a larger version of Applin.
“Yes!” Hydra and Gabite celebrated.
They kept walking, trying to find more pokémon, until they found an egg. “Cool, an egg,” Hydra said to himself.
He grabbed it and kept walking, keeping it warm so it could hatch anytime soon, hoping for a shiny Dreepy, knowing how cool shiny Dragapult looks like. They found many other pokémon, and defeated them all, both pokémon becoming more powerful. “Nice job, guys!” Hydra complimented the two pokémon, hoping that the pokémon inside the egg would hear the motivation as well, and hatch, hopefully, the next day.
Then, while walking, and paying too much attention to the egg, Hydra bumped into a boy about his age, with blonde hair and blue eyes, seemingly also on vacation. “Oh- sorry,” Hydra apologized.
”Oh no worries! I don’t really care. You wanna battle? I’m gonna become champion someday you know!” He said, quickly changing subjects.
“Yeah? Well I’ll be the best gym leader ever! Even better that Drayden!” Hydra responded loudly, setting the egg down and getting Gabite ready to battle. He only had two pokémon, so he had to be careful. “Gabite use dig!” “Raboot use flare blitz into the ground!” The two said it at the same time, the other boy somehowing knowing what Hydra would do. Right before Gabite used dig, Hydra told him to use iron head, the move he had just taught him, and aim on Raboots foot, when he kicks. It worked perfectly, though he wasn’t done yet. “Raboot use double kick, but put fire into it!”

He wasn’t too bad of a trainer. Gabite dodged one, but got a nasty hit on his ribs, instantly showing a burn mark and bruise. “GABITE!” Hydra cried.
“USE DRACO METEOR!” Hydra yelled, as the opposing trainer had told Raboot to use overheat.
They were both knocked out, bleeding, bruised, and burned. Both pokémon disappeared with a flash of pink light into their pokéballs. “You did good, Gabite.” Hydra whispered to the pokéball.
“Go Driplin!”
“Go Frogadier!”
The two pokémon came out of their pokéballs with blue light.
“Frogadier, use hydro pump!” The trainer yelled.
“Dipplin, use protect! Make her waste energy!” Hydra told him.
Dipplin used protect, as Frogadier was using an insanely large hydro pump. “Dipplin! Use seed bomb! Use the water!” He told Dipplin. Dipplin dropped a ton of seeds, and they grew much bigger, until they exploded, Frogadier getting hit with seed shrapnel, and all of the force from the move itself. This threw Frogadier into a wall, embedding herself into the wall with the impact. She fainted. “Yeah!” Hydra celebrated.
“Aw man, good game, I guess…” The boy said depressingly.
“Hey, wait, what’s your name? Maybe, If I’m a gym leader anytime soon, we can battle again!” Hydra proposed, while picking up the egg.
“That idea isn’t half bad… the names Reed, remember it.”
“I'm Hydra, nice to meet you. See you around?”
“Probably not, I live on an island, real far away.” Reed told Hydra.
“Cool, nice battling with you!” They parted ways.
Hydra ran to a pokècenter immediately after.. Even though they won, Gabite was seriously hurt. “Miss? Miss, I need help!” Hydra told the nurse.
“Oh dear, what happened?” She asked, taking his pokéball with Gabite inside.
“I was battling with a guy and he got real hurt, can you help him?” He asked.
“Of course, it’ll only take a second.” She said, bringing the pokéball into a room.
Hydra sat in a chair waiting, checking in the window every 10 seconds. He hoped Gabite was okay. But after his third check in, the egg he was taking care of started to crack. Hydra watched as a small, bright blue dreepy appeared. “Aww…” Hydra said quietly. It looked like a shiny, but he would have to wait to find out, as it would have a bit of yellow after its first evolution. He kept it close in his arms, feeling awkward because there were other people at the center, also waiting for their pokémon to heal. Hydra waited and waited for what felt like hours, but really was about ten minutes, until the nurse came out with his pokéball. “Is he okay?” He asked reluctantly.
”Now don’t worry, he’s fine,” She said, handing him the pokéball. “I would just allow him to rest for a day or two though, alright?” She told him.
”Yeah, ‘course… thank you!” He said, very appreciative sounding.
“Your welcome.” She told him.
He left and headed home, putting the young Dreepy in a pokéball. He thought his day went pretty well.
