*Above the Everheart roosts*
A huge red winged eagle flew over the sea of thick canopy, in its claws carried a large rich log of wood illuminated by the beginnings of sunset in a clear sky. The trees flashed by as the Braviary majestically ascended above the smaller Pidgeys, Pidoves and Starlys. It dismissed those below; normally this Braviary might throw a gust at them just to taunt the weaklings. But this was not a place he could be cocky or proud. This wasn't his sky.
The Guardian had laid, her son had hatched. The local Alphas of their flock had come to pay their respects.
Contention in the skies had always been fierce. All flying types competed either in speed, height, or power. Occasionally, a dragon-type would wander over from the Plasch Mountain ranges but they were out maneuvered and taken apart by flying-types relying on their speed and familiarity of the weather patterns. Even the Alphas of a flock could manage to deter a trespassing Dragonite or Salamence.
If the Alphas couldn't, then she would.
Her power had been proven time again. Her experience across the years had shown through in keeping relative peace whilst allowing enough competition for their young to still achieve their victory. Afterall to grow is to be victorious.
As this Braviary flew over the canopies, the horizon was interrupted as one tree stood out in the sky. A roost of uncountable branches, an immovable trunk spanning a circumference beyond even the largest Wailord. From the west he saw a shadow in the sky, an old competitor in the form of an 8-meter wingspan Mandibuzz. It's claws holding a trunk of Ebony wood, of which small crystals could be seen glittering inside.
Both Alphas had seen each other and slowed down respectively. Braviary began to channel his normal-type energy, projecting a clear phantasm of deterrent eyes. The aura of fear projected out across the sky against the oversized Mandibuzz, causing it to squawk, hiss and slow down. The Mandibuzz looked back in deathly fury and unleashed a blast of dark energy back at the Braviary.
Seeing the attack, the Braviary began channelling its own power again towards its claws as it glowed with a silver hue. Silver blades of air slashed towards the snarking Mandibuzz...
A blitz of pastel pink light blasted both attacks to nothing before they could contact. A pale gold Togekiss flitted down playfully before unleashing a pressuring aura against both with a sickeningly sweet grin. As both Braviary and Mandizz faced off against the new arrival’s aura; they both bowed their crowns. In deference.
After all the Guardian wasn't the only one who monitored the Everheart skies. Chief amongst her compatriots was known to be this golden nightmare of the dragon and dark types. Many a Noivern and even a few Hydreigon together had been utterly routed in their expansions just by this one beast. It's three-feather crown having already grown its natural crystal. A feat envied by both Alphas, as their crowns showing very small growths of their own - Braviary's a red and silver micro-orb and Mandibuzz' with a black and grey shard.
Fearing a second whimsical Moonblast; the mutual frenemies reigned in their tempers and followed the guiding Togekiss across to a clearing of hollowed out canopy that had been forced into a sturdy wooden floor. Above them a perch leading to a wooden enclave burrowed in the tree. A nearby Unfezant had already roosted on the makeshift canopy floor - apparently communicating with a nearby Aerodactyl and Charizard. A lone Staraptor off to the side eyed up the new arrivals lazily before flicking its head and going back to sleep. A loan little Starly looked on by its side; its feathers quivering under the natural aura that these behemoths gave off.
A short while later and the last vestiges of sunlight have struggled to remain; the waiting canopy had filled up with new arrivals. Gliscor, Altaria, Toucannon; even a humongous Mantine had arrived; a ring of water around it as it floated gently just above the wood. A Vespiquen atop a swarm of Combee had delivered a gift of sealed honeycomb before bowing down and descending back to its forest below. A large Xatu stood tall in a corner; staring down an evil eyed Crobat whom eyed up the busying Pidgeys as they kept the area clear of the tossed berry and fruit remains discarded by the arrived guests.
*SQUAWK* A clear screech reverberated through the entire clearing. A figure appearing on the perch above. Clouds began appearing in the sky above. Violet feathered trails dangled down from its crown. Its wings and tail feathers tipped in vibrant blue and purple. A striking silver orb ingrained into the Pidgeot's crown proving its power and authority.
The cultivation of a natural mega crystal signified extraordinary experience, power, and age to enemies. The fact that she could remain in that form constantly only further proved her power. Just naturally forming a natural mega-stone was beyond the power of any new fully evolved Pokémon. A natural Mega evolution stone was a goal to many Pokémon - with or without a trainer. But to remain in that form and retaining that power was a rare appearance in nature. Power beyond that was a miracle only whispered of.
This Pidgeot had ruled the Evos Roost for a couple of decades. Authorities accepted its local rule across the western and central skies. The Rangers were granted passage and even rare assistance on her order. Her capture or subjugation had long been abandoned as a futile and "self-destructive" venture.
She looked down from above at her neighbours, some she would even call friends. When she achieved her Mega evolution stone, many here were still mere chicks, or just weren't at all.
She flared her 20-meter wingspan and roared to the sky gusts of wind swarmed around here, the sky seemingly heeding her command as the gathered clouds became thicker. Declaring her presence. She looked down at the guests below, her mind released a welcoming aura of gratitude down towards the visitors. One small chick of a Pidgey walked forward. A single small purple feather poked out from the early brown down on his head.
The younger Pidgey looked quizzically down at the assorted colours of the monstrous bird-type Pokémon below. The various guardians of Vudas' Skies had assembled to pay their respects.
The barely feathered Pidgey chirped back at his mother shyly, which was met by a tender winged stroke across his strangely coloured crown. The Guardian gave a small hum as she reassured her son.
*Present! * The command from the guardian could be felt across the clearing; the action met by the sound of ruffling feathers as each guest pecked forward their log-based gift with their respective mouth or beak towards the middle.
A small sphere of silver wind-type energy moulded itself around the chick and floated him down below - followed closely by the Guardian's glorious form. She eyed up each log approvingly, inside each was a massive mixture of minor elemental gems, health and power berries and glistening wings. She watched her young chick excitedly waddle over and devouring the berries with great gusto - completely ignoring the towering, winged creatures in the face of treats.
The winds were blowing stronger now. A storm was brewing everywhere except in the canopy area. The winds simply bowed to her will as she expressed gratitude to her guests.
She felt a shockwave ripple down from the clouds. She felt power like hers and it was arriving fast.
Her chick seemed oblivious as he gulped down his presents of berries and nestled against the mounds of crystals and wings. Rather noticeably he preferred the golden yellow ones. His head bobbled as he continued his merry way until he bumped into a mystical white cloud. A Violet whirled tail rose from the side as the emerald genie of cyclones, inspecting the stack of goodies hidden in the logs.
"Finally, some tasty tributes!" Tornadus laughed out loud. It's Prankster ability present as it picked out a few silvery green crystals in its muscled arms before gripping them tightly into dust as he absorbed its power.
A flash of the Guardian's figure revealed her towering over the genie's back; aura raised threateningly, wings flared and glowing.
"Begone!" her aura demanded as her power pulsed out in the clearing. Even heavy hitters like the Braviary were knocked off their spots, flapping unstably in the gusts created.
Tornadus simply ignored this forceful aura. He turned around snidely, squaring up to the enraged mother.
"Are you going to stop me? You a mere Guardian? You haven't even found your voice!" His defiant trait showing now.
A glowed log full of gifts was forced across the clearing, caught mid-air with a resounding crash against Thundurus out-stretched hand.
"Begone" Her aura pulsed again.
The Pidgey chick ran forward between them, picking at the small berries that fell out. The audience of Alphas broke out in cold sweat - stealing a gift from a legendary Pokémon right in front of them was begging for trouble. A silent Sigilyph began channelling gentle psychic power for a teleport. Conflict was imminent.
Tornadus' eyes glistened with anger. He bent down and flexed his fingers, charging an air slash as if to flick the Pidgey-chick into oblivion.
A sonic explosion rang out in the clearing. Gusts of winds blinded the onlookers; the trees bent back for 10s of meters; the guests were thrown back off balance as the wooden flooring used creaked and cracked.

As the clouding winds dissipated; The Mega-Pidgeot held up one claw intimidatingly as the Tornadus had been forced back by her own air slash. Her Pidgey had been tucked behind her steel wing - unharmed. He looked up and chirped in worry, she calmed him with a returned look of love. She looked out, seeking the invited Sigilyph; clearly giving him a signal as he stood silently in mid-air away from the damaged area.
The knocked back Tornadus rose again, shaking in fury; a phantasmal monocle flashed across his eye.
A flash of psychic power brought the little Pidgey away to the side of the hovering group of Sigilyph, Braviary and Togekiss 100 meters away in a lower canopy of trees.
Tornadus' form flashed white as he transformed. His cloud receded to his body as wings emerged from the midsection; talons grew out and his horns grew. His aura noticeably stronger. His face still contorted in fury.
"You dare to fight a force of nature?" A clear human-like voice rang out from his newly grown beak. He flared his wings to the sky, rising and looking down at the defiant guardian. Suddenly his eyes shrank at the oncoming light.
A heatwave attack blasted out, illuminating the now-night sky. Once again Tornadus was blasted back; but he waved a wing-channelled extrasensory to blow the flames away. Only to be blasted back down to the forest floor, snapping through layers of canopy a distance away from the. A crater was blasted into the forest floor, uprooting a small tree nearby.
Above, the guardian's figure was revealed as her channelled extreme speed ceased. Her form looked different. Her wings impossibly, seemed longer. The trails of her crown flittered behind her, longer than before. She now stood at a size over 10 meters, unheard of for her kind and clad in an azure glow.
"Im...possible..." Tornadus groaned; "You reached our level!? An overgrown Pidgey obtained Sky-force?! Ridiculous" he whispered on the wind. His voice exhausted but still heard by the avian audience.
The Guardian floated down to the crater, standing right over the defeated Tornadus. She placed her talon over his throat. Her aura rising.
She looked down, facing Tornadus with her keen eyes full of fury.
"You attacked my son. You have lost this fragment." Her spoken words showing her enlightenment shocked all present.
*RUMBLE* Flashes of lightning and roars of thunder struck the areas around the crater threateningly. A Pale blue demonic figure descended from the clouds. An uproarious laugh matching the thunder rang out.
*CLAP* *CLAP* *CLAP* How amusing! Brother you truly look pathetic! A force of nature being beaten out of the sky! How embarrassing!"
"Begone brother; I am not beaten yet." Tornadus growled from underneath the guardian's claw. Her claw tightened and he began to thrash desperately. Both sides began glowing with sky force. She began beating him down further into the ground with wing attacks. The ground quaked and fractured at the beatdown.
"You are not beaten yet." The guardian spoke out quietly before breathing in once more building up aura in her throat preparing an Uproar. She aimed her beak towards his head, bending down close and looking him dead in the eye.
"YOU ARE BEATEN WHEN I SAY YOU ARE!"
*CRASH*. Her uproar's shockwave blasted out in Tornadus' face as Thundurus' thunder crashed down on the pair of them. Fragments of splinters and dust rode the wind as the sonic forces crashed out around. This area of the forest was long gone in the face of the powers at play but the central tree of Evos remained standing in the near distance. Once again, the dust settled. Tornadus lay there utterly unconscious. His sky-force destroyed, and his glow extinguished.
The Guardian's body flashed with arcs of blue electricity, but her eyes were still very much alive. More furious than ever.
"You know I need him in one piece. To return to the origin." Tornadus crackled with electricity as he threatened. The clouds continued to blacken over and rumble.
"He has forfeited this fragment." She replied dismissively, shuffling her feathers, shaking off the black charred feather tips.
Thundurus floated above her, looking down aggressively. His attempts of intimidation rendered mute by her size and aura. "How long can you maintain that form? I can see your control isn't complete. After it runs out, will you be able to stop me?" A pulse of dark energy pounded out from the clouded claws of his awakened therian forme.
A mirror pulse of dark energy rendered it useless. The guardian watched her handiwork impassively as Thundurus' eye twitched in annoyance. He began a Charge.
"It is you who cannot stop me!" her claws stomped down on the unconscious Tornadus once more. His body shattered into fragments of light, coalescing into an azure crystal that floated up to her feathers. She flashed once more towards the enemy Thundurus with Extremespeed.
Thundurus braced itself; raising both arms, one glowing with brown energy and the other crackling with electricity as he brought it down against the charging Pidgeot. As the two clashed, the force of the Guardian's attack carried both into the sky above the canopy once more.
The trio of Alpha's watched on in awe alongside the little Pidgey. The Braviary looked on in wonderment as both sides were blasted back repeatedly only to dash forward once more. Sigilyph kept his eyes on the young Pidgey; as he had attempted to run towards his mother multiple times and was now fighting some weak psychic restraints, chirping sadly.
Seeing he was on the losing end of the exchanges; Thundurus smirked before waving his hands in the direction of the observers and smirking. His enemy watched in fear before she flashed above the onlookers, intercepting the oncoming thunder attack with her body as her sky force defences clashed against the thunder-force blasting down. Her body spasmed and her power weakened. A Thunder-punch forced her back to the ground, in front of her son.
"I am not so easy to defeat it seems. My idiot brother was truly weak." Thundurus watched the Guardian struggle to stand; but her claws began to glow vigorously- hidden by her huge body of feathers as she remained crouched. She looked across at her son, giving a reassuring coo.
With a flourish of his arms, a cerulean Electroweb covered Pidgeot, keeping her crouched. Thundurus floated forwards slowly; and began charging once more.
"We've played long enough. It’s time for your punishment for going against a Force of Nature! "Thunder-force!"
"NOT YET!" She roared loudly again. Her aura arose once more, blasting the Electroweb apart and charging forward with a fully charged sky-attack cladding her form. She clashed against the still charging and stunned Thundurus before spinning mid-air and crushing him to the ground once again and flying up high- riding the shockwave recoil. Thundurus eye's wavered in shock as he nearly lost control of his already moulded energy.
"I'm not done with you yet!" her voice echoed out as the winds picked up once more. Slowly the wind became visible as the sky condensed into a grey Hurricane attack, kicking dust, pebbles, and foliage up with it. Thundurus. flat on its back looked up without the ability to move as he lay in the eye of the storm, the winds tearing at its outer aura.
She looked down on this Legendary form beneath her in hatred at the peak of the Hurricane, watching it being torn apart by her conjured winds. But she knew it wouldn't go down yet. His eyes were still alive, showing defiance. She knew her enemy still had charged up Thunder-Force left. She closed her eyes, and focused her normal-type power, cladding her body once more and diving down through the eye of the storm.
Thundurus smirked as it roared and blasted out its charged-up Thunder-force into a devastating beam at the Guardian. Her Giga-impact clad form intercepted the blast and dived down through it as the Hurricane power tightened up around the beam, diminishing its power.
A burst of light could be seen as the energy collided with horrifying power. A blast wave further devastated the landscape with the Legendary power transforming into a dome of destruction tens of meters in diameter. The Alpha's watching among the side lines were blown further afield; her son still bubbled safely with psychic energy.
As the smoke cleared, the Guardian's form could be seen standing above a cerulean crystal and the caved in outline of Thundurus' defeated form. She shook slightly as the white glow of evolution encased her as she shrunk back down to her Mega-evolution size and looking out for her son.
A brief flash of psychic energy brought the group back towards her. Both Pidgey and Togekiss dashed out towards her as she collapsed to the ground. The Sigilyph giving privacy as he floated away.
A pulse of concern emanated from the golden Togekiss as he tried to keep the Pidgey away from the Guardian to not exhaust her further. She hissed in anger in response and pushed Togekiss away before cuddling up to her son once more.
Falling back away, Togekiss looked on in anger. His care was rejected, he felt his commitment to the Guardian was wasted; his affection ignored far for too long. He glanced towards the sky to see a large Swanna in the sky, flying silently above.
He looked back again at the young Pidgey in fury, cursing that she hadn't chosen him. No one knew who she had chosen. It was a mystery among the Alphas as to who she had chosen for her mate. But that Pidgey was proof it wasn't him.
He ruffled his coat of golden feathers, revealing a mystical Glacial blue feather, after a final moment of hesitation, he snapped it.
"A True Feather?!" The Guardian looked on in shock as a massive Glacial pulse exploded out from the Togekiss. She shunter body over her son and braced as a cold snap ran through the clearing, freezing Braviary and the Guardian alongside the land and air within 10 meters completely solid. The sphere encased everything in solid ice. Except for the young Pidgey hidden underneath his mother's warm feathers. He felt two crystals within the layers of his mother's feathers, and being the little glutton he was, quickly swallowed them.
A shockwave of sound erupted from the guardian as she managed to shatter the ice off her body, but she was too exhausted to do more. She felt her son rummaging about her feathers trying to find a way out. His head finally peaked out from her wings.
She saw the Swanna descending to stand alongside the hateful face of the Togekiss. She had saved him as a Togetic and treated him as her left hand; but now all she could feel was anger from him. Swanna glanced over at him and let him trot forwards to the defeated guardian.
*WHO!!* She felt the question in her feathers as Togekiss pulsed in rage and inferiority.
The Guardian chuckled to herself in rage. She saw that Braviary had just broken itself free; and Sigilyph was hovering and silently coming in closer. She used the last of her energy to send a thought through the wind.
"Catch!" rang out in their minds as she grabbed her Pidgey and thrust him up towards Sigilyph with all the strength she could muster.
"PIIIIDGEYYY" her son cried out. She saw that Swanna flying up to intercept only to be knocked back by a Brave Bird attack from a scarlet clad Braviary. The overgrown Swanna hissed in pain before revealing a second blue feather and breaking it. Psychic energy burst over Pidgey as he was teleported away as Sigilyph too was hit by the True Feather's power. Before he disappeared, the young chick turned around to watch his mother smiling as she was frozen solid. After that his world turned black.
And black.
And black.
And once more the world turned back to green. Falling through a canopy far away in another section of dense forest leaves; Pidgey screeched out to the midnight air for help; exhausted from the shockwave of powers from the day. The last thing he could remember was landing on something soft.
A man in torn clothes, battered and bruised looked up incredulously after this tiny Pidgey landed in his lap. He ran away and escaped to this forest; but he was on his last legs and collapsed under this tree for shelter. The little guy looked just as bad as he felt. He gave it a gentle stroke as the Pidgey's breathing calmed down; not seeming to be in lethal danger.
"Rough day, eh? You and me both." Richard chuckled to himself in self-pity.
"Let's just sleep for now; tomorrow I guess I'll take you home with me. You look just as lost as I am. Without her."
