VGC regional tournament. Double battle format. 4 vs 4. Local hour: 13:09
“And WolfeyVCG wins again with a splendid strategy around “Shadow Tag”! What a fantastic trap it made against the newbie! A great applause as his streak of 11 to 0 keeps growing!”
The audience cheered up, roaring in excitement, and applauding the winner. Some took the time to record what happened, while most were discussing the strategies and proposing improvements to both team compositions or astonished and surprised on the predictions of each opponent. It was a fierce battle, lasting to one last Pokemon, but in the end, the better strategies of the VGC Champion made it clear how it would end in the last turn. The opponent he faced was only known by his nickname, “Ephiron”. He wore sunglasses, a face mask, gloves, high sockets, military pants, boots and even a cap under it. He didn’t seem like a participant on a tournament but some one who was gonna high jack a bank. But still had a side bag with his Switch game, a Nintendo DS and his 3DS at hand. Beside the identification documents and the player pass he had as well…a disinfectant kit. The man barely had any public image, not even revealed his face in public. And nobody put their name in their mouths, basically like a ghost between the participants.
Both participants went up and shook their hands in their distinctive manner. While Wolfey had an enthusiastic and contagious energy, a firm hand, radiating and mentally preparing to face his final bracket combat, Ephiron had a shy hand shake, making sure that his skin made contact with his in that brief moment. He took the time to turn off his game once done, disinfecting him self and the console with care and move on without speaking a word. Wolfey was set back by this attitude, but then when one of his friends came and comment something in his he only express a short “oh” in an understanding tone, nodded to Ephiron and left respectfully.
The tournament were hosted in the giant conference building. Inside, and outside people were enjoying the tournament, events and festivities revolving around the game series as well as other formats or other media. From classical disco, to card trading to selling figurines, plushies, or even just eating some thematic food. Each floor was filled with energy, joy and emotions. Except for this particular player, who was slow, reluctant, and shy about his endeavours outside of his games.
It was lunch time, the tournament took an hour break and the people Ephiron didn’t stray outside of his main path, not to enjoy a moment around the places, to check any store, not even to talk the couple of players who were clearly talking about the last match up. In fact, he already was on the way to the next designated place to fight his next opponent, only to be stopped by one of the organizers.
“Ey Ephiron, was it?…You know that your next battle it’s in an hour…Right?” Said the organizer while checking a couple of documents as well as being set back by his appearance. “How is he wearing so much in Summer?” She thought for a moment, while observing the player in front of her.
Ephiron simply nodded determined, his face trembling a bit as she looked at her, still by his body movement, it seem that he wanted to sit down already in his booth. “Look bud, the area is restricted until ten minutes before the tournament continues for security reason. You will have to look for a spot to eat outside of the main area.” She said while moving a hand to his chest, wanting to stop on his tracks, but not pushing him away.
But he instinctively step back before she even laid a finger on his clothes. In fact, he apparently half ignored her, not even looking at her a single moment while she talk, trying to go around her. Only making some weird whimpering noises after that information was shared with him. But she once again stop him on his track, raising her voice, showing anger in her tone. “No you can’t! Okay?!” But stop her manners once she saw that Ephiron cover his face in reaction. She waited for Ephiron to breath and calm down before signalling the benches and tables, where most of the people were eating and chatting. “Look, just wait like the others, think of your last battle. That Infernape of your’s is horrible to bring here anyway.”
Ephiron turned his head a couple of times to her and the table before sighing in defeat, turning around and walking slowly towards the made up meeting place. Most of the tables were filled to the grim, between participants, relatives, friends and the public. It wasn’t a big tournament, just a regionals side, but the grand prize of two thousand dollars for the winner attracted a great repertory of people around the continent. Most of the players were concentrated in a couple of tables, talking and discussing strategies or just sharing a moment and eating together. A energetic environment enjoying their hobbies. Ephiron sat down in the last empty table. He took a moment to breath in and out through his mask, before taking his side bag, taking a couple of minutes to perfectly straight it in front of him and open the zipper.
As he pulled his lunch on the table, a commotion on a couple of tables on the front called the attention of everyone, including his. One of the players shouted, flamed, insulted other contestants, bad mouth about them and their relatives and disrespect them like a mad man, to the point that a couple of organizers had to step in to defuse the situation. It got to a point that the rest of the group on that table went up, straight up ignoring that guy and looking for a new place to keep eating, until they find the spot Ephiron had in the empty table. And they approach near him. WolfeyVGC asked him.
“Ey man, nice battle back there, can we sit down with you? It just…The other guy he seems to pent up now and you know…” The multi champion expressed, a tone of dissatisfaction showed as he roll his eyes towards the guy who was now discussing with the others.
Ephiron looked at him, freezing internally, not knowing what to respond. A trembling nod appear on his body movement, as the table cheered up a bit and began to bombard him in questions, saluting him, handshaking him. From outside, it was a normal exchange, a simple social interaction where people meet up and met the new guy. Internally however, Ephiron barely could keep the the track with everyone and every energy. His breathing accelerated and began to sweat, but due to his masked appearance, it barely showed up on the outside. They began bombarding him with questions about his appearance and asked if he could reveal his face, but barely had words to keep up with whispers. Some others push the one bombarding him away in a mock way to leave him be and began trading information and ways.
After everyone calmed down and began to eat right away, Ephiron felt a bit more confident to share with them his notes and calculations, and everyone cheer on each other. Every team had M.E.T.A. (Most Effective Tactic Available) compositions around strategies, however, Ephiron had an unusual Pokemon that nobody would thought of bringing to a tournament not in their wildest dreams.
He had an Infernape!
In the ninth generation of Pokemon. And not even a competitive one! It didn’t had perfect IV’s, balanced EV’s or even a good nature. It was like a kid’s Infernape in the middle of hundreds upon hundreds of perfectly curated monsters for this tournament, and yet they went so far to end up 7 wins and 4 losses.
“May I speak for everyone here to ask, why that Infernape? We checked a couple of your games and neither math check out…It was weaker than a normal one…”One commented confused about it. “Yeah partner! Like if I saw that monkey would throw it to the trash.” Another one commented disrespectful of that Pokemon, but then a third ask the masked companion. “May I ask…why you have that? Look at you, your new and you lost only the times it arrive to that evolved Chimchar.”
Ephiron didn’t said anything. He give them his console to show them. In some sort of way, they were right. Their IV’s/EV’s spread were like this:
Infernape EV's/IV's HP 104/11 Attack 0/09 Defense 191/30 Sp. Attack 03/17 Sp. Defense 162/03 Speed 50/31
After looking at that Pokemon everyone was dumbfounded. Then they checked out every other Pokemon. Nothing, perfect training. Over and over most went through the details until Wolfey noticed the next, “Wait. Most Pokemon are farmed in the recent generations but…This Infernape is from “Sinnoh”. As in the original one. This is original from the 4th generation. Yet the rest of the team is perfectly trained…Did you didn’t had time to gather another- No…This box…These boxes are full of perfectly fine Pokemon! Look guys look!”
Everyone gathered around, astonished the order and the amount of the monsters residing inside. Every strategy of every M.E.T.A., every generation from every console, including games besides apart. Or to put it in simple words. He had options. Too many options. And he still used a weaker version of Pokemon he had already ready for use.
Many began to laugh hysterical, not mocking him but confused, baffle having so many things to used decided to stick to a weaker option.
But the only thing he said, perhaps in the whole competition as barely anyone knew him was…
“They are my partner, until the end.”
He whispered behind the mask, a shy smile bright up with that hidden energy that everyone showed as well as nudging the screen where he show it to the rest, like he was patting him. No one understood him, looking at him as he was crazy.
But the curious meeting was interrupted by that same party popper from the other table coming over. Unlike the closed appereance of Ephiron, his hair was messy, his fingers were sticky, fill with grease from his last meal, and he barely clean him self on his own clothes. He wore a shirt without sleeves and short pants with sandals of his body and he chewed his gum with his mouth open. Bare knuckles, red bloodied, muscular arms with chicken legs and blond hair, the man looked condescending to Ephiron, currently shy away and looking upwards to him.
“So you are the last one I need to pass to bracket, huh? Well, you are lucky tho. Same score. The one who wins will be the last on to classify to quarter finals. Pff, ha!” He wheezed on his face, slapping his leg with force. “Let me tell ya something, looking bitch scrawny ass. You will be easy, once I get to that monkey of yours.” He chuckled as he swallowed the bubblegum, and pulled up another. Tho Ephiron didn’t give him any drop of attention, only giving his attention to his digital monster. His new opponent felt pissed off, to the point that he were gonna reach Ephiron’s head but the rest stop him. The organizer and many were gonna get involved, but before more trouble began, Ephiron stood up, placing his console down and extended his hand for a trembling handshake.
“Let’s have a fair match.” The masked figure spoke in the most respectful tone, showing seriousness as well as fair game towards his opponent. This made him pop up a vein on his forehead, and slapped his hand away. The blondie breath in to shout, before anything could escalated further, the main organizer walk by announcing.
Time has passed, their combat was about to begin. And so the cocky sunshine went up ahead and went first. When Ephiron was about to go, many try to slow him down a bit, giving him tips to beat him, some organizers tried to stop this intervention but Ephiron didn’t give them attention. He went slow, methodical, in the same place, and took his time to just sit on front of his opponent. Taking his time to set up a charger, his game and his combat.
Most of the people didn’t give much attention to the match up other for the drama. They were two new comers, and the quarter finals was Wolfey, winner of the multiple Championships. His title precede him as his critical and strategic thinking, it was clear cut who would win. But it didn’t bear any weight on the masked or the dirty figure. Both opponent were getting ready to face each other.
But in a flash, in a moment where everyone was distracted…Ephiron’s console glowed up, his game glowed up a bit with radiant magic, unperceptive due to the high lumen from the set up around. Not even Ephiron noticed as in that moment he put in order his bag.
Both set up their teams as they selected their Pokemon. Behind his shades, Ephiron closed his eyes as he recalled a memory. A memory from his childhood. A kid doing constant rythmic movement sin his bed beside the walls, trembling and moving his fingers in the same pattern over and over. A memory where his sister came and gift him a big box gift, containing a Nintendo DS and a Platinum Pokemon cartridge. A memory remembering his first Pokemon, of that happy, charismatic monkey and how happy it made him in that moment, calming him down.
He nodded and opened his eyes, selecting that same Infernape, still alive almost two decades later of that special moment for him. He leaned closer to the console and whispered “Let’s show them what you got, partner.”
“Welcome back people to the last matches of the elimination brackets, as we have the two new comers against each other! A clear contrast of personalities and show figures. Let’s see who we sta- I can’t believe it peeps!” The announcer expressed, excited for what he faced.
Everyone reacted in surprise, even in his opponent , looking at Ephiron like he was a mad man and began to laugh hysterically.
“Ephiron started with his weak Infernape to start! Oh that’s really bad! That Infernape has the ability “Iron Fist” and is against a Water Pokemon! Urshifu water style signature move “Surging Strikes” has extra 20% power against Pokemon with this skill! And…HE DOESN’T HAVE ACROBATICS ON HIM?! Is this man crazy here?!”
The double battle began.
Turn 1:
While his opponent took a moment to think, Ephiron instantly selected his movements and waited for the results. It would happen like that every single turn.
It was Ephiron’s Infernape and Indeedee against a the Blondie’s Whimiscott and Urshifu, water style.
The combat began and Whimiscott began with a “Toxic” against Infernape.
Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation.
It missed. Unlucky, but expected by the blondie.
It continued with Urshifu used a Sword dance, boosting his attack up by two stages, (doubling his attack stat). Indeedee used Helping Hand on Infernape as he striked with Fire punch against Whimiscott.
A critical hit!
Whimiscott goes down with one single strike.
The blond guy laughed it off. He thought Ephiron was that predictable. “Of course noobs have luck.”, he thought.
The announcer expressed as the public began gathering around, their lunch break finishing. “Not bad kid! But that Urshifu will be a problem if not removed soon enough! Perhaps with a monster with Intimidate (reduces Attack stat by one stage) perhaps he can scold off and handle it but only time will say!”
Turn 2:
The opponent throws off Incineroar with Intimidate. Ephiron’s Infernape and Indeedee Attack stat goes down by one stage. (67% of his original Attack stat).
Indeedee uses again helping hand, supporting his companion on his next move.
Incineroar uses Parting Shot, reducing even more the Attack stat down another stage towards Infernape. (50% of his Original Attack stat).
And swapped to Ho-oh. Urshifu set up another Sword dance, (300% of his Attack stat)
Infernape used Thunder Punch.
A critical hit! Again
Ho-oh life drops to 23% HP.
“Nice prediction from the shy figure! However his luck should run out soon. His stat dropped to half and that Urshifu, soon things will go south.” Wolfey commented while looking the matchup.
Turn 3:
Indeedee uses Helping hand as Ho-oh uses tailwind (Doubling the speed of Ho-oh allied team for the next three turns)
Urshifu used Surging Strikes against Indeedee, downing it in that single turn.
And Infernape used Thunder punch.
A critical hit! Once again.
The blond man was a bit set back, for he thought “the monkey used three attacks without high strike of critical chance and the three of them not only hit but critical hit everything…That is…stupid.”
Turn 4:
Blond’s Incineroar is brought up first after Ephiron’s Urshifu (Rapid strike form), intimidating both Pokemon, lowering even more the attack stats by another stage!
Ephiron’s Infernape with -3 Attack stage ( 40% Attack stats)
Ephiron’s Urshifu with -1 Attack stage (67% Attack stats).
Incineroar used Fake out, making flinch Ephiron’s Urshifu, as the blond Urshifu finished up Ephiron’s Urshifu with Surging Strikes.
Infernape used Close Combat against Incineroar.
“A critical hit!”. “It’s super effective!”
Incineroar goes down in a single hit.
Infernape defense and special defense goes down by one stage. (67% of the defenses stats)
The announcer shouted “Another one?!” But it was muffled between the sounds and the game still going on.
Turn 5:
It was Urshifu against Infernape as the last Pokemon of the shy boy goes out.
A murkrow! The tiny crow went first. Thanks to his ability, “Prankster”, all non damaging move has priority, and so it goes first using “Haze”. Clearing all stat changes to everyone.
Infernape attack and defense stats were restored to normal, as well as Urshifu attack stats dropped down. But the Urshifu didn’t care, using once again his characteristic move, Surging strikes, bringing down the crow.
Infernape used another Thunder punch against Urshifu.
“It was super effective!”
But only brought down a third of Urshifu’s life, stopping at 64% HP even after restoring so much of his stats to the original state.
Turn 6:
This was it. Blondie’s Urshifu against Ephiron’s Infernape.
Ephiron selected his movement and lay back against the chair waiting, his face or body showing no movements, nor regret on his choices. A bit strange but the blond didn’t care. He nodded and went for the multiple strike water move.
Urshifu went first, using his signature move, once again, Surging strikes!
First hit, brings Infernape down to 65% Hp.
Second hit, brings Infernape down to 25% Hp.
Third hit, brings infernape down to….to….to….1% HP ?!
“WHAT?! Impossible! That should have killed and brought him down?!” The commentator exclaimed astonished. The public jump up seeing such turn of events.
Heck, even Ephiron hearing that the move didn’t took down Infernape, went back up to look at the screen.
Yep. 1 Hit Point left. And the magic sparkled, to the point that Ephiron move down his shades to look clearly to the screen.
Infernape thumbs up his trainer. Not having any animations for that to be possible or nothing even close, due to the lacking nature Game freak had lately with their products.
Through the general screen the combat perceived as normal, but through Ephiron’s screen, Infernape turn to him, nodded, smiled and shout in anger and passion. His thunder punch was ready to strike against the face of that giant gym panda with the fury of a thousands suns. Sparkling brightly and giant zaps as the ground and the console trembled. The other hand of the flaming monkey held the last water strike with all his might. Ephiron could hear his partner in battle scream with excitement in his mind.
“Infeeeeeer!””
However, through the other screens showed just like he survived by a miracle.
And so, Infernape stroke down back.
Thunder punch.
A critical hit!
Urshifu goes down. Trainer Ephiron is the winner!
Ephiron felt flabbergasted as behind the mask an innocent smile appear and a tear up. He couldn’t believe it.
End of combat.
Nobody else couldn’t believe it either.
The blond guy stood up, as he clenched his teeth, and his fists and looking at Ephiron with enough anger to cut the air itself as he began to approach and shout like a mad man. His head veins popped out hot red as he ready him self to throw hands. “You bloody cheater, bastard! How you did it?! That Infernape was dead! And it just lived without the proper item! You had a muscle band! As the other times! You should be out of this tournament and never brought back again!!!”
And many agree with him in that moment. The organizers went down with what happened to the match as well to the code, as others took both games to a close inspection.
But after a solid ten minutes, the organizers couldn’t explain it themselves. First of all, all Ephiron’s Pokemon, games, moves etc, were legit. Nothing seem unchanged. Second of all, the Urshifu’s on behave of the blond guy were found being as a hacked one. Tho not hacked as invincible or broken. It’s common practice among the VGC trainer that some Pokemon obtained were breed through tools, inside legal parameters, just build up by cheats since farming those with perfect IV’s could take up upon months just because of the pure RNG the games had naturally at the moment of farming those.
After half an hour deliberation, it was determined to be just a instant karma moment. Some broke programming on behalf of the hacked Pokemon affected the battle and made that that Infernape could survive that last hit. Even if it didn’t survived, if it were found out later that he cheated, it would taken as a lost anyway. However, being this a common mistake due to the new rules, it was not punished harshly, just taken that match as a defeat and that Pokemon being banned to use.
But it was decided. Ephiron would pass on to Quarter finals, eliminating the Blondie out of the tournament.
After clearing the incident and having the post talking and analysis the situation, Ephiron and his new gang went to celebrate that most passed to quarter finals and they would see each other tomorrow. Tho he shy and reluctant, he agreed to go with them as long as he wasn’t questioned much of his next strategies, and being the new guy, the gang let him room to breath.
They had pizza night and even they exchange contacts having one more “face” to join the party and the potential. The gang just needed to convince Ephiron to not use his dear Infernape and be full optimal.
VGC regional tournament building, parking slot. Local hour: 23:41
Now deep on the night, Ephiron finally alone. Outside at the parking slot, a solitude on his thoughts that brew through all day. It had passed several hours after that battle. It opened his car, place everything down in his correct spot and put the security belt on. It was a long day and had finally a moment to breath outside of his mask. His mind demanded to go back to his house, living nearby but his heart…decided to check a thing. Every cell in his being said it best. That event felt unnatural, unusual, to epic proportions yet unjustified. That wasn’t correct.
He took his console and boot it up once again. And checked his dear Infernape…Nothing out of the usual. No signs of what happened in that battle in that moment. He place down his shades and looked carefully everything, even the replay. The replay showed whatever the others saw outside. Just the normal match aside from the close call moment. He was gonna spoke up but then heard a voice besides him, outside of the door.
It was the blond guy, and he demanded to talk. It knocked on the window around six times with force, his face visibly with frustration and anger. Ephiron was set back by it, his eyes widening as he exaggerate his expression and shaking his hands, repeating strange movements over and over. He took a moment to calm down before pulling down his window just a bit to hear him.
He began with a cheerful tone “Look man, between you and me: You cheated.” Went down a notch, more serious and looking at him with hate. “I don’t know how. I don’t know the methods yet, but you did. But hey, I understand. First tournament; go big or go home. You made a super impression being mysterious and all that with whatever you have under you hoddie.” His attitude rose up, having a smug and cocky smile. “However, I have big wagers in this tournament to beat Wolfey in a “twist of events” and have a national pass. And I checked your background…You just got invited because your cousin is one of the main organizers. Now, I understand more of you. You are just really, fucking, lucky, huh?” Blondie rolled his eyes while reading up his phone, seemingly getting the information from there. “Of course you never had the courage to show your face ever…Well, but your kin is easily bought so…I will be kind to you. Retire from the tournament and allow me to move up. If you do, I will pay you cash money.”
The blond man brought up his phone and showed his bank account quickly. He had hundreds of thousands in there to back up his offer.
“Ten thousand dollars. And I can help you out with falsifying some hospital documents here and there, you just had to cough violently, or act like it. Easy under that double skin of yours.”
But Ephiron didn’t react a pinch, only hearing him talk out. The sunshine hair man got impatient, doubling it down. “Twenty thousand dollars. C’mon man, don’t be stupid. You don’t wanna to look like a fraud right?”
But Ephiron didn’t react yet, only heard him. In fact, for the first time today, he looked at him on the eyes, not flinching a single word out yet.
“Fifty thousand. Tick tack, I have a schedule. And I am sure your ill parents would like that precious money, right?~”
Ephiron move his head.
He shook his head.
He denied his offer.
He pressed a bottom and scroll up his window, closing it full on the man as he began to ignite the motor. The blond man shouted to raise his voice as he slam his hand on the window with force, sounding a bit desperate in his wager.
“Last offer okay! A hundred thousand! Man, you seriously are that dumb or what?! One thing is being Autistic but you are retarded if you pass this offer!” How rude of him using the R word these days. Yet he kept insisting.
Ephiron stopped the car for a moment, rolled down the windows just to make his voice clear.
Ephiron’ whispered to him. “No. Please leave me alone.”
The blondie slammed the car multiple times. “WHAT?! You seriously are messed up man! Is cash money, literally no questions or second things. Just back off the tournament and everyone is happy about it! Why da-“
Ephiron rolled up his window almost to a close, only a bit to let his voice speak up. His tone contained rage yet fear and shyness. His brown eyes looking at him with anger.
“My parents would be disappointed to sell my moral code for money. I love Pokemon. I love having fun. My parents will understand. Have a good night. We will see each other on the next tournament.” And rolled up completely his window.
As he reignited his car and made sure everything was in order, purposely ignoring the begs and demands of his defeated foe. The Blondie escalated the situation gradually, hitting harder and harder the car, but to not avail. Nothing Until only silence was left. The blond man began to walk off in pure anger as he crack up more his fist and shout in anger, cursing the lineage of the winner.
And so, the day finished off, as he began to drive carefully and perfectly, paid the toe for the parking slot and leave the place. But just as he began moving away from the place to silent and empty streets of the city, a bombastic sounds from the nearby corner, as another car at high speed began to accelerate towards Ephiron.
The blonde man drove the mad car against him with pure hatred on his eyes to him, shouting and cursing Ephiron and blinded in emotions.
“I WILL DESTROY YOU, YOU RETARDED ARSE!”
Ephiron got caught guard off, as he turn the car, speeding u. But it was too late, both cars crashed against each other. The Blondie’s car charged Ephiron’s side ways, making the second one spin a couple of times before hitting upfront a streetlight. Only saved by the airbag kicking in time and saving Ephiron’s life by mere milimeters before impact.
Multiple ribs were broken, his nose bleeding out and torn apart. His right shoulder dislocated, his abdomen muscles aching and disoriented by the sudden commotion.
The mad man shouted after the crash, having significantly less injuries, but his car was in a far worse condition. “You had to do this…YOU HAD TO MAKE ME DO THIS!….YOU WILL DIE TONIGHT!” Those blue eyes express everything that Ephiron could noticed. That man felt outside of his sanity. Mere words pushed him to the edge, respect only brought him pain.
Ephiron barely had the strength and orientation to unlock his belt and grab his phone. His eyes swallowed as he began to cry in agony and pain, trying to call for help with whimpers and shouts of his own. But to not use, nobody was there. He called his emergency number but before he could answer, the door opened and was dragged out against the pavement.
“Look, what you made me do. Just because you cheated a fucking child’s game. I have millions on the line. And I need you OUUUUT!” As he stomp his foot against his head, breaking Ephiron’s teeth against the floor.
He began to hit him over and over, punching him, kicking him, breaking him more and more and knocking him out multiple times.
He tried to crawl away, every time. His whimpers sonourous, his pain perceptible. His blood painting the ground in a catastrophic silloutte as rain began to pour. The last thing Ephiron saw, the bloodied figure taking his consoles and cartridges, breaking it down before. And began to slam his skull multiple times with them while those dirty and bloodied hands slowly crashed away his hopes and dreams.
While being pummelled, his mind drift away, as he felt his life slipping away. In his dying thoughts. The young man wished one thing.
“I just wanted to go home.”

????. Local hour: Morning
The young man woke up distressed, looking around and to him self. Ephiron hyperventilated as he stood around and…Nothing hurt. Nothing of him self hurt. He could stand up, and felt him self. Nothing was broken. Then he observed his surroundings. He wasn’t in the building, or in their homes, or in the street. Any place that he did recognized. He seemed to be on board of a train that passed through the dessert, thanks to the windows on the sides. The train had a modernized classic aesthetic, with lights on top that form a chandeliers and fancy comfy booths.
He knew two things.
The first: He died. He knew he died in that moment. Something in his being told him. His mind raced thinking how, when, why, and what.
And the second thing is when he looked at his own reflection.
It wasn’t his face. But it is now.
