Joining The Party

Joining The Party

Finally reaching Viridian City, I headed for the Pokemon Center. By now, it had already grew late into the night but a bright gleam of light still shone over the streets. Ahead, in clear view, there was a large blaze of fire rising up surrounded behind a towering mass of smoke.

"Jeez how did Ash survive that.." I said while scratching my head.

On my way here, to kill some time I used that recall ability I have and watched some of the episodes. So if I'm correct, team rocket appeared at the pokemon center and caused a ruckus. Then, Ash used Misty's bike as a generator to power up pikachu's electricity. But in the midst of the thunder shock attack, James's Koffing used poison gas which got ignited and blew up the entire pokemon center.

Arriving outside the Pokemon Center, there was a horde of people surrounding it, each looking fairly worried. Past them, multiple tents were set up where nurse figures were seen walking in and out appearing quite busy. As I looked around even further, I spotted a white-colored tent with the top layer being a bright red, resembling that of a Pokemon Center. 'Oh perfect' I thought, as I took out Indra's Pokeball and started rushing through the crowd. Letting myself in, a familiar face greeted me and it was none other than Nurse Joy herself.

"Hello, could you take care of this guy for me?" I asked while extending my arm, as I place the Pokeball onto her palm.

She did a sweet smile and responded back in a reassuring manner. Looking at her up-close, I realized how good looking she actually was, like Book wasn't messing around. As she turned her back, she walked over to an enclosed part of the tent and handed Indra over to another nurse, telling me to come back after a while. After receiving more words of reassurance from her, I was about to leave before she called me out.

She suggested that I look for Officer Jenny north of where we were, saying how she'd help me with my own injuries. Thanking her for her troubles, I made my way out while waving her goodbye. Though only a few minutes of interaction was made, I fully understood why Brock was the way he was and you couldn't blame him.

Walking past the crowd, I decided to take her advice and head north, though, I found more familiar faces than expected. Across from me, in the middle of the crowd, Ash and Misty could be seen talking to Officer Jenny. After squeezing past a few people, I called out to them from behind.

"Yo you guys!" I said while waving my hand up high, trying to grab their attention.

"Oh hey! It's Reiner." said Ash, as he quickly noticed my appearance. "What happened to you...?"

"Yeah... You look a bit different." Misty gazes up and down, startled by my appearance.

My clothes were torn and tainted in dirt, while the previously white bandages wrapped around now had dried-up blood stained on them. Some of the bandages also loosened up on the way which made it so parts of my cuts were exposed out open.

"Wildlife, am I right?" I chuckled a bit but my body was still in pain.

Upon seeing me, Officer Jenny seemed to be the most worried as she interrupted our conversation and started inspecting my body. Immediately after, she grabbed my hand and hastily guided me to a nearby tent with Ash and Misty following from behind.

Inside, I looked around and saw that there were a few people in nurse outfits lying on the ground with mats beneath them. As I start to walk past them, I noticed they all had areas around their skin that were burned.

"They were mending to the pokemons when the explosion happened... All of them could've made it out early, but they went ahead and evacuated the pokemons first." Officer Jenny whispers, trying to not wake them up. "Luckily they're not in too serious of a condition. An ambulance should be arriving soon."

Ash and Misty seemed to have already known this but were still in shock upon seeing their burn marks. As we made our way to the back of the tent where the supplies were stored, a nurse was soon called and my treatment began. It lasted for at least half an hour, where she applied some unknown medicines and rewrapped all my bandages with clean ones.

In the meanwhile, Ash and Misty had gone ahead to the Viridian Forest to set up camp nearby the entrance. I suggested that we travel together since the Viridian Forest was a dangerous place. Ash agreed without trouble, while Misty acted a bit hesitant but accepted in the end.

There wasn't anything wrong with travelling alone, but I knew that most of the major and exciting events would occur around Ash's group and I didn't wanna miss any of them.

Finally out of the tent, I would join them but first, I needed to get back Indra. As I once again greeted Nurse Joy, she guided me to a waiting area where I could sit down. Fortunately, only two people were there with me so I didn't need to wait too long. While I chatted with the two trainers, each of them left one after another upon receiving their Pokemons, until it was finally my turn.

"Your Pokemon is now healed. We hope to see you again!" she says with a bright smile.

Walking into the Viridian Forest, I easily spotted Ash and Misty near the entrance laying down inside their individual sleeping bags. Misty was shifting around, trying to find a comfortable spot, while Ash was playing around with Pikachu. Something was off though... Their hesitation to make eye contact almost felt like they were avoiding each other.

"Hey!" I walk over to them, avoiding the mud puddles along the way. "Y'all gettin along?"

They looked up towards me, then at each other. Their faces suddenly turned moody as they simultaneously turn away, having their backs face each other. Looks like they aren't in a good mood right now.

"...Is this about the bike?"

Both of them stayed silent. Looks like I guessed right...

"Well whatever it is... It's getting late, go to sleep for now."

The night grew darker and the moonlight shone brighter. After setting up my stuff, I went a little further into the forest to brush my teeth.

Brushing my teeth during day and night was a task I wouldn't fail to do, both in this life and my previous. Out of all the compliments I've received in my previous life, my well-shaped, shiny white teeth were the majority of them. Some men may compare dick sizes but nay, it's all about the teeth. You have to see it to believe it. Just a smile could swoon over just about anyone....or that's what I thought at least.

While I was brushing every inch of my teeth in full immersion, a hand was suddenly felt on my shoulder.

"Wah-! ...What the hell?" Surprised by the sudden touch, I choked on the white foam and started coughing it out.

"...Um are you okay?"

Turning around, I saw Misty with her hands raised, clearly startled by me.

"Ah yeah... sorry bout that." I say as I grab a cup of water and spit out the remaining foam. "So what's up?"

"Well... I was wondering for a while now. How did you...know my name?" She asks with a genuinely confused face.

"Oh, I mean aren't you the Cerulean City gym leader? I just recognized you that's all." I told her with a straight face.

Her body shooked a bit and her face was just as shocked. She definitely wasn't expecting that response.

"W-what do you mean?! I've never even b-been there before!"

Hm? Oh yeah... She isn't too fond of her sisters and ran away. Something about proving herself if I remember.

"Ah...my bad then."

"Ummmm..." Misty could be seen scratching her head, desperately thinking on what to do. "You got me but I'm not the gym leader you know?"

"Really? I just assumed you were since you're one of the sisters."

"Well, I technically am but... It's a bit complicated."

"I see..."

In the end, she started ranting about her family problems while I listened quietly, already knowing some of them. Not paying much attention, my mind drifted to a thought that was circulating in my mind. It was a troubling thought, that my presence would cause the future to change faster than expected. I needed to start taking measurements for every action I do, especially when traveling with the main group.

Hiding things will be a pain but I shouldn't reveal too much. My goal will definitely change the future but for now, I'll try to stay in my zone. There's no point in knowing a future that'll never happen.

----------------------------------------

Early in the morning, we finally started our journey in the Viridian Forest. Ash led the group with excitement while Misty walked slowly at the back yawning.

A few minutes of walking later, we finally spotted our first pokemon: A Caterpie. While Misty hid herself behind us, trembling at the sight, Ash went ahead and threw his Pokeball. The ball shook around but after the third time, a click was heard.

"Yes!!" Ash exclaims as he continues to cheer on about how this was his first step to becoming a Pokémon master.

As he releases Caterpie on the ground, it quickly spots Misty hiding behind a tree and rushes over. It had a happy expression as it rubbed its face onto her leg, while Misty was frozen in fear. After a while, she started insulting Caterpie and an argument between her and Ash started to take place.

"Bugs are one of the three most disgusting things in the world!"

"Aside from you, what are the other disgusting things?"

As their argument started getting serious, I quickly interrupt and tried calming them down. To my surprise, it actually worked as they held their grudge but had ended their argument. It seems I got more influence in the group than I thought.

Continuing on our path, we had a quick rest stop in Misty's request as her legs were getting sore. Me and Ash however still had plenty of energy so we decided to have a match between us.

"Alright are you ready?" I say as I release Indra.

"Sure am!" Ash was smiling with excitement.

The distance between Indra and Pikachu was about 5 meters as they stared at each other, preparing to attack. They had a type advantage but we definitely weren't planning to lose.

"Use thunder shock!" Ash shouts.

"Move away!"

A bolt of lighting came towards Indra which he easily dodges and starts running forward.

"Now bubbles!"

A stream of bubbles flew towards Pikachu, hitting it with great impact.

"No! Pikachu!" Ash cries out, seeing Pikachu hurt.

Meanwhile Indra had already close the distance between them.

"Hit him with pound!"

A loud slap to the face sent Pikachu flying. After landing roughly on the ground, Ash rushed over to check on him.

"Here." I throw over a potion.

"Thanks... You and Indra are pretty strong." Ash had an upset look on his face but seemed to have accepted his defeat.

I looked over at Pikachu. Strange I thought... He's just a level 5 but in a few days from now, following the show's timeline, he will be able to use thunderbolt which is a level 36 move. Definitely an abnormal pokemon...

So while Pikachu and Misty rested, I had a little chat with Ash.

"...So you know Pikachu can use like 9 more moves other than Thunder shock right?"

Ash was startled by this.

"What?! How!" He got closer, his eyes beaming with excitement.

"Well... I'm not sure. Usually they learn by themselves but I guess not."

Recalling the moves learned by Pikachu, looks like he had enough levels to learn: Charm, Growl, Nasty Plot, Nuzzle, Play nice, Quick attack, Sweet kiss, Tail whip and Thunder wave. I assumed a 'Move tutor' doesn't exist outside the games, and it seems they don't immediately learn the move right after hitting the required level, so... Maybe we need to teach them ourselves, but the question is how...?

Looking over at Indra, I can see he's about to hit level 11 where he can learn 'Water sport'. If possible, I want to quickly figure this out so I can help him right away after he levels up.

"Lemme try something with Pikachu okay?"

Ash agrees immediately as his smile grows larger with glitters forming in his eyes, almost forgetting about his recent loss. As I look over at Pikachu, he still had a red cheek from the slap given to him but was relatively fine after his treatment.

Let's see... I should pick an easy move to learn first of all. What about Growl? Maybe Indra can help since he already knows it.

I take out Indra. "Alright try using growl on Pikachu."

He did it without question. Less than a second after Indra growled, Pikachu suddenly had a cheerful expression and gave Indra a hug.

"What...?"

The move is suppose to 'Growl in an endearing way, making the foe less wary' but I didn't think this was the kind of effect it had.

"Uh okay so Pikachu, try replicating that onto Indra."

It looked confuse but did it anyway. After taking in a breath of fresh air, he then gave out a cute little growl. It seemed to work on me but barely had an effect on Indra.

We repeated it a few more times and eventually Pikachu got the hang of it pretty fast. Meanwhile, Ash was looking over us the whole time.

"Wooah! Pikachu can use growl now?!" Ash shouts in excitement.

"Yup. It lowers the opponent's attack and it should work at least 5 times on them."

As we continued our experiment, I decided to teach him a harder move just to test myself. 'Thunder wave', a strong move used by many top players that's able to both paralyse and slow down the opponent.

"Okay I want you to discharge Thunder shock but a weak version of it..." I began testing out different stuff to find out how pikachu could learn this.

The day went on as we continued experimenting with different methods. We came close but it was still an incomplete Thunder wave.
