Nate hadn’t realized it sooner, but wasn’t this technically a date?
Here he was, walking with a girl after spending the last few days getting to know each other. They were on their way to one of Nimbasa’s movie theaters, and it gave Nate the perfect opportunity to retrace his steps as to how he got to this situation.
After finding her lost Xtransciever soon after arriving in Nimbasa for the first time, Nate intended to return it by dropping it off at the nearby Pokémon Center like any lost-and-found item. His plan didn’t go as intended when, somehow, it started ringing as soon as he picked it up. After receiving the call, the girl said with a shy tone that she was using her old Xtransceiver and that she wanted to pick it up after she finished with her work.
Nate expected to wait at least until the evening of the same day to return the device, but it took far longer. Over the past few days since, he held onto the Xtransceiver, regularly receiving calls from the girl, eventually learning her name, Yancy. He’d repeatedly listen about how busy she was with some work before suddenly leaving due to said work. Nate wondered if he could’ve just told her that he would leave her Xtransciever at the Pokémon Center and he’d be free to continue his journey for the gym badges, but he decided not to. Though they were quick, Yancy’s calls were entertaining, and they shared little tidbits about themselves before she was forced to end the call.
He finally met Yancy in person when she got a break from her job, saying she’d meet with him at Nimbasa’s Rondez-View Ferris Wheel. When Nate showed up, she was surprised at how her mental image of him was much more different than she thought. He didn’t know if he needed to take it as an insult or a compliment, but after Yancy mentioned that he looked familiar like she’d seen him from somewhere, Nate only smiled.
Yancy was only given a week or so for her vacation away from work, and she wanted to spend it with someone she knew. Her silent stare at Nate clued him in on who she meant. He couldn’t help but feel pity when she explained that he was his first friend in a while, and he couldn’t bear to think how long “a while” was in her perspective. Nate agreed to do so, also believing that he and his pokémon deserved a break after their battle against Burgh’s monster of a Leavanny and their tiring trek through the desert in their search for Krokorok.
For the few days since then, Nate and Yancy spent their time in places around Nimbasa. He had read about the city in a tourist pamphlet that it was known as “A Bustling City with Entertainment,” and it didn’t lie. From the theme parks similarly designed to the film set he was once to the Musical Theater, he and Yancy explored all that the city had to offer to distract her from the job that held her back. As time went on, he realized that he was actually enjoying her company. With Hugh deciding to take his Journey solo, it felt nice to have someone by his side during the day. His pokémon also enjoyed the new company, especially Servine and Flaaffy, who both clicked with Yancy in an instant. Krokorok, on the other hand, acted indifferent about the whole ordeal, but he softened up after Yancy handed him some cotton candy, which he took a not-so-hidden liking to.
On the last day of her vacation, she saw a new movie released by Pokéstar Studios and wanted to watch it in theaters. Nate had the same idea, he remembered the moment he saw the poster of the Full Metal Cop and his partner pokémon walking away from a cool explosion and seeing it was Brycen and Mr. Moore. The more he thought about how the human-turned-riolu was doing over in Pokéstar, the more Nate grew eager to watch the movie.
“Hey, are you that excited to watch the movie?” Yancy tapped Nate’s shoulder, bringing him back to reality. “You were walking really fast just now.”
“Y-Yeah, I guess I’m excited,” Nate sheepishly grinned. “The star pokémon is actually a friend of mine, so it’d be nice to see how he did in a movie.”
“Really?” Yancy beamed. “I didn’t know you knew someone famous! How’d you meet him?”
“I… actually starred in a short movie with him at Pokéstar,” Nate revealed. “Did you see ‘Riolu-Kid of Justice vs. Brycen-Man’ by any chance?”
“I remember talking about it in the sho— where I work,” Yancy recalled before her face flashed with astonishment, rapidly turning to Nate. “Wait! That’s why you looked familiar to me when we first met! The Riolu-kid was you?”
Nate nodded. “It was only a one-time thing since they were looking for an actor. Pokéstar Studios doesn’t look like they’re low on funds and stuff anymore.”
As they turned the corner, Nate and Yancy arrived at the movie theater in Nimbasa City. To their astonishment, the lines stretched endlessly from the ticket booth all the way to the other side of the street. Nate and Yancy exchanged stunned glances, momentarily taken aback by the overwhelming crowd.
“Maybe… Maybe the lines move quickly?” Nate tried to cheer himself up. “Let’s go ask someone in line.”
Nate and Yancy approached a couple and asked how long they waited.
“Since early afternoon,” The man explained. “I heard that the tickets go on sale at hourly intervals, so there’s a chance that we might get tickets,” He then turned to the woman. “Isn’t the DVD version of this already out? Why can’t we rent it and call it a day?”
“Because they’re all rented out and all the copies were sold out,” The woman replied. “Besides, it’s not the same watching it on a TV screen compared to a theater screen.”
“Well, I can’t deny that,” He shrugged.
As they walked away, Nate sighed, letting his arms hang in disappointment. “I think… we should just leave,” He eventually spoke up to Yancy. “I don’t think you’d want to spend your last day just waiting…”
“No, we’re gonna wait and we’re getting those tickets,” Yancy affirmed. “I want to see ‘Full Metal Cop’ and you just said you wanted to as well.”
“Are you sure? But we’ll have to— Woah!”
Yancy grabbed Nate’s arm and pulled him through the crowd to the end of the line.
“I don’t mind the wait—” She explained through the hordes of people. “—Just spending time with someone is much better to me than anything from work.”
Nate was glad that the crowd around him hid his blush away from Yancy.
----------------------------------------
Luckily, Nate and Yancy were the last people to get tickets before they completely sold out. The crowd that gathered in line behind them left the area, words of frustration echoing around about how they should’ve gotten there sooner.
The seats that they had were far in the back, not the perfect spot, but it beat being in the very front where Nate would have to crane his neck up for the duration of the entire film. He also snuck in a few snacks and even two lemonades for him and Yancy. The theater’s price of a single lemonade was a thousand pokédollars, and that was at least three times as expensive as the vending machines he frequented. The employee who scanned their tickets likely noticed his bag stuffed with goodies, but they looked like they weren’t paid enough to care.
When the movie finally began, Nate couldn’t help but smile every time he saw Mr. Moore on screen. The mechanical costume he wore hid a portion of his face, but Nate could see the thrill he was experiencing in each action sequence. Brycen acted like his usual stoic self, and it translated perfectly with his robotic character. However, as the story continued, Nate loved the details that showed his human side and how his view of justice changed for the better. The villain, the Sneasel Ninja, and her partner looked really cool as well. The ninja outfit blended perfectly with the darker parts of the scenes and the chemistry between her sneasel and Mr. Moore was amazing in the fights.
His pokémon were able to watch the movie as well, as there were slots above his seat where he could place his pokéballs to give them an elevated view. Servine and Flaaffy were familiar with Mr. Moore, and Nate imagined they enjoyed seeing him again on the big screen. When he released Krokorok after the movie, the sand croc gave no explicit sign that he enjoyed it, but from how his tail continued to wag even after the credits, Nate only grinned.
As they left the theater with the rest of the audience, Nate squinted through the blazing heat, as if hit by Flash. His eyes adjusted to the darkness of the theater, and so did Yancy’s, her hand also over her eyes, shading them from the sun.
“I completely forgot that it was still daytime,” Yancy blinked multiple times, adjusting herself to the sunlight before checking the time on her Xtransciever. “Oh wow, that hour passed by so fast.”
Nate also checked his Xtransciever, confirming Yancy’s statement. “I swear movies are just time machines, we just can’t use them to go backward.”
The two chuckled together before they began their walk down the street with the crowd dissipating behind them. On the way, they stopped and sat down on a bench, Nate leaned back on his seat, observing one of Nimbasa’s famous pond fountains spraying water high in the air stylishly. Krokorok stood close to the fountains with his hands on the metal railing, his eyes gleaming with amazement. Nate decided to let Servine and Flaaffy out to accompany Krokorok, they’d been cooped up in their pokéballs for too long.
As his pokemon all gathered together, observing the fountains, Nate noticed Yancy navigating through her Xtransceiver’s online service, the Entranet. She seemed to be having difficulty, judging by how often she found herself lost on the front page.
“Is it your first time using the Entranet?” Nate spoke up, briefly startling Yancy.
“Y-Yeah,” She responded, holding the device closer to Nate. “Could you help?”
“Sure, you can just follow along with me,” Nate opened up his Xtransciever and held it beside hers. “What do you want to do?”
“I… I want to see what people thought the movie was like. I don’t use the Entranet much because I’m busy all the time but it helps to look at the public’s opinion before talking about it on a show.”
“A show?” Nate raised an eyebrow.
“N-Nothing!” Yancy quickly blurted out. “How do you get to the movie forum?”
Deciding to ignore what she said for her sake, Nate began tapping through the pages, helping Yancy navigate her side before they both landed on the right page and topic they were looking for.

You rate every movie with a 20/10. You've never had a bad thing to say about anything that catches your fancy, really... As for me, I enjoyed the movie, but the sets seemed a little cheaper. It doesn't detract from the plot, though, and I enjoyed it a fair bit too. 7/10, really.

Your username never ceases to be accurate. Personally, my favorite character was Pollyanna. It's important to have variety in characters, and she offered a great plot point. I found the dynamic between her and Mecha Cop entertaining, and my Floragato enjoyed the movie as well.

I’m surprised Pokestar is still in business, not that I’m complaining. Although I could have sworn I read an article about how they were shutting down.
Saw Full Metal Cop in theaters since I thought it’d be the last movie they ever made. Place was packed. Only real complaint was how surreal it was to see Brycen with a fighting type after bashing my head into his gym years ago. Hope they continue the trend.

HONESTLY? It was GREAT!!! I got to see it in theatre's during opening night, and thank the Dragons I got my tickets early, LOL The main theme of redemption and anti heroism was actually really interesting, and I loved how the Ninja got to work with FMCop at the end!! It was a very satisfying ending, :) My little buddy really enjoyed it too!! I could see him perk up when the pokemon talked too, so even if I couldn't make out the dialouge until I saw some stuff in a different thread about it, he definitely seemed to enjoy the involvement! a solid 9/10, I do think it's the Cop didn't have something like more than one pokemon, but I did still love Robo Riolu! (Their name was Harper, wasn't it?)
► [ItsPokeTime]
@[AverageScolipedeEnjoyer]
Honestly I think the bond between the solo ace pokemon with their trainers really enhanced the care we feel for each character, y'know? Plus, it makes me wonder about their backstories!! The actor for Riolu is pretty young, right? What if they met not too long ago when FM was in trouble and they teamed up, and now Riolu is trying his hardest to live up to the expectation? it's really interesting to me to imagine it, lol. Can already imagine there's some entries for fanfics on archive of unknown already, too!

I never thought I'd see the day that you didn't ramble everyone to death. I'm... kind of shocked. Adding to that, I think I might head on Archive of Unknown to check out whatever fanfics might have come from it; While I'm not too sure if it'll match up to the writing in the movie, I'm actually quite curious now that ItsPokeTime mentioned it.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Full Metal Cop. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical robotics, most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Full Metal Cop's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Nidrodnaya Voltia literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Full Metal Cop truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Full Metal Cop's existencial catchphrase "I am a machine," which itself is a cryptic reference to Torgoniv's Sinnohan epic Weaviles and Sneasels I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Stuh Deoh's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Full Metal Cop tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

The way it's perpetuating the system despite ACTING like it's not just a cheap way of treating good people like villians and 'redeeming them' by making them part of this opressing system is CRAZY. Also like...did that Riolu in the story even consent to body modification? :/

I theorise it's because the Pokemon are actually saying what the captions claim they're saying in the movie. While I'm not sure how that'd happen, or if it's true, my own Pokemon seemed deeply invested in it.

Extremely unrealistic movie.
There were no trainers getting in the way, the Rangers weren’t called, the sneasel wasn’t cracking jokes the whole time, and robotics don’t work that way.
10/10, will watch again with team.

This was a great movie to watch with my pokémon at the beach at night time! They chose a great place to film in Humilau City for that beach battle! I definitely would’ve found a better spot for them if Pokestar asked, but it’s great to see people come by where they filmed, business is boomin’!

OMA! I actually saw the actor playing Mecha Cop on his debut!! The riolu from a test screening I saw involving a superhero movie with Liam O'Connor as Riolu-Man. I don't know how to say this nicely but that test screening was so bad that I couldn't walk away, like it Mean Looked me. It was really bad and poor riolu looked so hurt and confused when he lost to a vullaby. I didn't recognize him at first but my sweet little Vani did and told me! She really loved this movie too! She normally doesn't like watching Action Flicks but she was so entrenched. I knew I should have asked for signatures when I went to that screening,no matter how bad it was ;_; Imagine how much it would have gone for.

That sounds like 'Brycen-Man: Riolu-Kid of Justice vs. Brycen-Man'. It was pretty great when I saw it, unlike what you are saying. I guess the acting of Mr. O'Conner was so bad that they replaced him with a total unknown. Riolu's acting was very great! And what do you mean Vani told you? Are you a PokéWhisperer?

You know, I've always found fighting types pretty boring, but this Riolu really thrilled me! I watched this movie with y girlfriend but I'm so glad she dragged me to it. The ACTION. And you'd think Brycen would have lost soe of his spark by now, I mean, he's been in the industry forever, but he was just as vibrant - I think acting with that Riolu was really good for him! The interactions between Riolu and Sneasel were awesome, too - that fight scene in the apartment? BREATHTAKING. Now I want to see them make a movie about ghost types!!!

Everyone's asking me for my opinion, so I guess I'll throw my hat into the ring. Full Metal Cop itself was a fun romp, but on the surface, you've seen it all before. But the script isn't what blew me away. You know how it is- you go to watch a movie and the human actors are doing great, but there's clearly a communication issue with the pokemon. In Full Metal Cop, the pokemon are on top of their game! Whatever Pokestar Studios is doing, it's working. My Arboliva enjoyed the banter between the pokemon and told me that the pokespeak dialogue was accurate, which is fantastic. I'm very excited to see what Pokestar Studios do next.

Yes, I have. If you had told me six months ago that I would be invested in a Pokestar action movie, I would have looked at you like you were crazy. And yet, here we are. We could be looking at a true revolution of how pokemon are treated in the entertainment industry. And the impact it will have on trainers! Time will tell whether this is just a one-off fluke, though I doubt it will be.

Ok, so at the bequest of some friends of mine, I decided to give this movie a shot with my Cinderace, Roy, after stopping off at Motostoke. Well, long story short, he might’ve got a bit too excited at all the action scenes (and all the explosions) as he accidentally blew a hole in our PokeCenter room‘s wall with a popcorn Pyro Ball.
[file: hole.jpg]
We had to finish it on my Rotom Phone at another hotel (we were kicked out of the Center for destruction of property), and both of us agree, was pretty good!

That… sounds like a pretty big discipline problem. And you really don’t want a fire type to have those once they start getting stronger. Maybe consider stopping by Sunshine Daycare in Virbank.

@[Eggxactly] Hmm… well, it may be due to evolution (he evo’d last week, I’m so proud of him) more than discipline, but he has been a bit of a hot-head (excuse the pun) sometimes. Also might’ve been a knee-jerk type reaction; he loved playing with pebbles as a Scorbunny, and it might’ve triggered the habit. Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into that.
► [CircleOfLife][Verified Ranger]
Friendly reminder to everyone reading this that trainer insurance covers most things, and pokemon will always have a chance to break stuff.
@[FlameAndCinders]
Don’t worry about it, most pokemon take 2 to 3 weeks to get fully settled after an evo, and the cinderace line tend to be hotheaded no matter what.

My Mienfoo basically pulled me by my Gi as soon as we finished training to go watch the movie. They must've heard about it from his training buddies, and I can see why pokemon love it. The fights looked fluid and Mienfoo was hanging off the edge of my lap so many times he almost fell off!

Nice to see Pokestar not going the way of Hollywood. Looking around online, it seems like they’re ramping up to make more movies now that they have the finances. And stable actors, that’s what really killed Kanto’s movie business. After Schbeilbunk, of course.

So I took my two kitds (Edit: Misspelled lol) out to see Full Metal Cop last weekend, and it was great, a 9 out of 10 rating easy! I will admit I found the dialog to be a bit campy at times, but I was pleasantly surprised by how accurate the Pokémon speech captioning was. I only spotted one error, and it was an easily mistranslated noun at the halfway point in the film. I will say that those Pokémon actors are some of the best I've seen so far, and I will be looking forward to seeing their work in the future works. If you have kids and are looking to see a movie this weekend, I highly recommend this one.

IDK what all the hype is about? Like I thought it was okay, in a B-grade action flick kinda way, but it's not exactly haute cinema. My little brother liked it tho. Kiddo loves Riolu which is the only reason we went to go see it.…

Honestly? For me it's a combo of how natural they humans AND pokemon are acting, and the novelty of the basically-invention-of pokemon with LINES! I've never seen any like it, so the almost revolution of a movie with the pokemon talking is really interesting to me, and i assume alot of other people. Of course, aside from that, the acting is really good! Brycen's always great at what he does, and the newbie actors did an amazing job too!!! Can see why your bro liked it for Riolu tho, he's a lil cutie.

Oh, man. The dialogue was so cheesy I could have put it in my picnic sandwiches this morning.

That's the whole point, though. It's a homage to all those action movies from decades ago. If Ditterminator 2 had sensible dialogue, it would have been terrible!

Eh, whatever. I'll stick to anime, thanks. Kantonian cinema is a naturally superior art form.

You do realize there haven’t been any movies actually made in Kanto for *checks date* seven years? And no good movies since Hollywood went belly-up almost fifteen years ago.
@[FilmGuy142]
The deal is that it means Unova’s movie biz isn’t dead. Which is big since it means fans of film won’t have to suffer through another decade long dry-spell. Sure there’s always cartoons being made, but nothing compares to real actors the silver screen. And as @[ItsPokeTime] pointed out, Pokestar seems to have figured out how to make the pokemon in their movies feel more alive right at the perfect time when they now have all the money and talent they could ask for.
Edit: Soooo many typos.

So tropy and obvious plot but I loved Sneasel. I hope that the next movie will be the classical Nin-Feud tales of the Sneasels versus Scythers

Went to see the movie on a whim, and it was really enjoyable! My Floatzel really enjoyed the action scenes, and my Lucario was impressed with the Riolu actor. (Might have to see if there’s any knight or heroic films with him made yet, haha!)

I haven't seen movie this great since "A Combee Movie"!
► [XxX_Zeb_Stri_XxX]

Despite all known laws of aviation, there is no way a combee is able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat, polygonal body off the ground. The combee, of course, flies anyway, because combees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Hm...I wonder if in the future, they'll involve even MORE pokemon actors into their stuff like FMCop? That'd be super interesting, tbh! It also might inspire wall more dvd releases to look through the captions!! I honestly hope this inspires OTHER theatrical companies to try it out

The rest of the thread was just people spamming the typo until one of the mods intervened. Scrolling further down, Nate read more responses to the original post, and all of them continue to give general praise to the movie. He decided to post one as well, hoping Mr. Moore would read it if he ever used the Entranet.

I loved this movie so much! The battles looked real and the characters were so detailed and expressive! If I had to pick, my favorite would have to be FMcop’s partner pokémon!
After rereading through his post, he hit ‘send’ and watched it join in with the rest of the thread.
Yancy glanced over at Nate’s post before looking at him with a raised eye. “Is he really your favorite or is it just because you know him?”
“Can’t it be both?”
The two softly chuckled before falling into an awkward silence, both of them realizing their due departure.
“I… I guess I should go now,” Yancy murmured as she stood up from her seat, turning to Nate. “I don’t know when I’ll see you again, but I hope we will at some point.”
“I hope so as well,” Nate hopped off the bench. “My first experience of Nimbasa was the best, thanks to you.”
“I’ll try to call back but I'm always so busy, I don’t know how long I’ll be able to.”
“It doesn’t even have to be more than a minute, call whenever you want,” Nate reassured.
Yancy then suddenly rushed forward and gave Nate a hug, squeezing him tightly before stepping back and running down the sidewalk.
“Thank you, Nate!” She shouted, waving an arm. “Thank you for everything!”
Nate stood there, shocked and confused. As he remained there, frozen, his pokémon walked up beside him, each giving their own form of comfort. Servine patted his side and gave a thumbs up with his leafy appendage, giving a grin. Flaaffy hugged his leg, giving a soft and cushioned squeeze from her wooly head and neck. Krokorok chose not to come into physical contact, but instead muttered something so quietly that Nate couldn’t hear anything.
“Flaaf!” Flaaffy slapped the back of Krokorok’s head as if telling him to speak up.
“Krok, korrok, koro,” He said louder.
“Are you saying I’ll see her again soon?” Nate translated, receiving an apathetic nod from the sand croc.
Nate smiled, glad to see the softer side of the hardened Ground-type. He reached his arm over Krokorok and pulled him in, adding him into a group hug. “Thanks, Krokorok, I knew you liked her as much as the rest of us.”
Krokorok attempted to break free from Nate’s grip but immediately gave up after one glance at Flaaffy’s face. Servine jokingly sneered at Krokorok, patting his back as well.
“Now then!” Nate steeled himself. “Who wants to go train? I think I have a plan on how to take Elesa down, featuring Krokorok!”
All three of his pokémon nodded in unison and the group all raced to their destination, knowing the fastest route possible.
If Mr. Moore was fully embracing his experience as an actor, then Nate was equally determined to make the most of his role as a trainer.
