Long ago, before the war between demon and humans divided the world in 9 sectors of varied living, there lived a woman named Mirembe Akenyemi.
Mirembe was brave. She was courageous and beautful and smart and strong;; but, more than that, she was the mother of a baby named Iwaya. Iwaya was destined to be special, they were told by the stars that she would be the one to save them from 'the hell that was to come', and then she would rule with an unmatched authority. They didn't know what that meant at the time, only seeing the message as a reason to rejoice instead of the warning that it truly was.
By the time of Iwaya's eighteenth birthday, war had befallen earth. Tensions between the demon and human realm had already been high, and humans were the reason for it; they had taken to kidnapping women and children from the demon world, selling them to sex slavery and drug rings for high prices for their superior genetc build. The king of hell at the time, Masego Abioye, who was a man with a heart of gold that cared for his people like his own children, warned the queen of earth that she needed to control her people and fix the problems humans were bringing to his peaceful kingdom, for he wouldn't continue to be so forgiving if she didn't. But, the queen didn't listen. She accused King Abioye trying to start conflict in order to take over her land and started a war that she was all too sure she'd win, after all, the demon realm hadn't advanced in the ways of war since two centuries back as far as she knew. It was this arrogance that would spell the destruction of her corrupt kingdom.
When the war started, humans found out just how weak they were. Blood stained every street and corner as King Abioye's army annihlated their forces, killing all those that wishhed their people harm, but sparing the innocent citizens who had nothing to their conflicts. It took four of her strongest battalions being wiped out for the queen to realize she wouldn't be able to win. She had been so confident in her superiority that she failed to see the vast difference in their abilities. The prophecy of Iwaya's destined greatness re-surfaced just as the humans were going to be completely beaten, and word of a warrior destined to help them sent a ripple of hope across the land. The queen herself rejoiced endlessly at the news. Finally, she thought, there was hope for her tyranny to continue undisturbed, so she sent a diligenet man, his name was Melokuhle, to find Iwaya and bring her to the castle immediately.

Days passed, which then turned into weeks and months as the humans awaited the arrival of their hero, and, even after a year with no word from Melokuhle regarding Iwaya's capture, no one lost their faith in the prohecy; they still believedd in their hearts that their golden child would come to them, aloowing them to continue on in their wicked ways. The queen, however, was growing impatient. Month by month, more and more of her army was being wiped out by the demons, and she knew that wouldn't be able to hold out in battle much longer. On the day she was to declare a nationwide search for their prophecized warrior, her personal gaurds brought in a dying soldier from her last sent battalion who claimed he had news of the one she was looking for, but what he told her shook the queen to her very core.
"Iwaya Akenyemi", he'd told her through bated breaths, "daughter of Mirembe Akenyemi, was sighted leading the demon battalion that wiped out our men. She is no longer human, her eyes have become as deathly purple as the demin king's. Believe me, my queen, we cannot win. They are too strong -- no, she is too strong, and she has Melokuhle with her. They have traded on us, my queen, you must believe me..."
And so, the man died right then, his last words telling of something so devastating that the entire kingdom was sent into a frenzy the moment they'd found out. People rioted outside of the queen's castle with torches and pitchforks, demanding to know what the meaning of the news they heard was. How dare that dead man curse the name of their hero, they thought, when it was written in the stars that she would save them, but there was no denying the truth. One after the other, soldiers were returning and telling of the same story as the first soldier before they would pass away from wounds no healer could fix no matter how hard they tried.
Eventually, King Abioye's forces closed in on the queen's castle, and she finally came in contact with the woman who'd spelled the demise of her tyranny. Iwaya had changed from when she'd last seen her, she was no longer the innocent girl with wonder-filled brown eyes who had compassion for everyone and everything she saw, no. That girl was replaced with a war hardened woman who had seen the evils of the world. Her turned purple eyes were cold and void of emotion as she stared her former queen down, the sword her mother, Mirembe Akenyemi, had gifted her as a child held at the woman's throat. She told the queen one thing before she killed her, one last thing before she slit her throat mercilessly, and those words would be marked in history books for the rest of time.
"Tell your daughter I said hi when you meet her in hell."
The murder of the former queen signaled the beginning of a new world order, one that would be challenged by 14 kids who just so happened to have met on a fluke. Two of which being Iwaya's own kin.
