Before the first ears could hear, four sages sat around eternal nothingness
The First spoke with a bellowing voice; and with his Word the nothingness became of substance, and was nothingness no more
The Second one spoke with a song; and with her Word, static substance began to change, and eternity was eternal no more
The Third spoke with the throat of a mighty beast; and with its Word some of the change withered away, to leave room for the new
The Fourth spoke with all the voices that would ever speak; and with their Word came understanding into the world, and those that understood marveled at what they saw
Poem of Creation, as it is written in the Holy Texts of the Circle of the Sages

----------------------------------------
It is unclear as to where this poem, or rather the story, first originated. Almost all civilisations on the Great Mass and the Outer Isles recall it well into their past, long before the Circle of the Sages organised and spread accross the continent. While some colleagues have suggested that another version of the Circle may have existed and spread this story before our recorded history began, I, and a much larger group or colleagues, dispute these claims. Firstly, although we recognise that there must have been an extensive period of civilisation before our (centuries spanning, might I add) records begin, the idea that a single religious organisation would have survived that long, and much more with such a static system of belief, is quite franky contrary to all we know. I do not say this as someone who tries to struggle against a change of direction in my field of research, but as someone who has exactly searched for such a change, and can therefore say with great cofidence that such longetivity has never beem observed in any civilisation.
No, from all we have observed there exists only one conclusion: This story is woven into the Old Language itself, as no civilisation with a discernable record seems to know this story before they start exploring and understanind the Old Language itself, yet misteriously seem to learn of this myth as their understanding grows. Given the amount of times this can be seen, it would be absurd to claim anything else.
