11: Setting out once more

The entrance had changed a little since Varis arrival. There were emplacements and further energy barriers covering the entrance. Lockers and tables covered with gear sat off to the right, in what looked to be a freshly dug out alcove. The duo that had found and brought him here were already in the alcove and as he made his way over Alavaros noticed him. A nudge to Vossan had the man turn to look at him, before nodding and returning to looking over a backpack of sorts.

"Varis! Good of yeh t'make it here. I took the liberty of settin' aside some gear for you. Standard gear and some specialized stuff yeh apparently used to use before the whole memory issue." Alavaros pointed him towards one of the tables, upon which sat a trove of equipment.

A rifle, similar in design to those the Mauchinians he'd encountered carried, it was blocky and looked like it was meant to fold in on itself. Though it was a decent size larger then the Mauchinian rifles at the least. It held slots in the stock of the gun to slide in power cells, a counter sat below the sights, reading out at a flat 0 currently. He could see various points where parts of it could be changed or swapped, probably for repairs or to change it's usefulness in various situations. Even the barrel was rectangular as he looked it over, finding the magnetic clamps built into the side of the rifle.

Next to it sat a knife built like the one he'd found when he'd woken up, and a side-arm that looked completely different to the one he'd used and lost before. It was sleeker, larger, and held two slots for power cells instead of one. Alongside them was a case full of those 'ration vials' that lay open, but was clearly meant to keep them secure from impacts. A backpack of sorts, made from some cloth. It had both straps and strips of metal built into it, obviously so it could be clamped to the armor as well.

Whoever had designed all of this gear clearly liked the idea of magnetically attaching things to people. The last things on the table were a pair of gauntlets, and three Cylinders that had the words 'BURN PLASMA' written onto them. The gauntlets were clearly designed to do something, they were bulky, with openings at the wrist.

He could see ports and sockets where it was meant to interface to his armor and had picked one up to look closer when suddenly a display appeared in his vision. The first in a short while.

Interfaced equipment detected. M.I.U Kelxath interfacing with: Rage-5 class plasma blade gauntlets, vindicator Pulse plasma rifle, Truth class plasma pistol. Please attach Rage-5 gauntlets to finish interface with Spearhead class armor. Diagram provided.

Varis frowned as he attached the first, and then the second gauntlets to his armor's wrists. Noting that the armor had grown down to cover the prosthetic in place of his left arm quite rapidly.

As soon as he finished attaching the last wires to the gauntlets he felt them heat up as lights began to flicker on.

All interfaces complete. Setting fire modes on Firearms. Performing test activation of Rage-5 gauntlets.

Before Varis could react, two beams of violet light spat from the gauntlets, taking the form of blades a foot long each as they began to destabilize only for a field of energy to settle in place around them and hold them in place. He frowned as he examined the blades and the field containing them. Before Vossan spoke up. "Supposedly you were pretty big on using blade gauntlets in past whenever you fought in melee. According to some of the older one's who've seen or heard of you, you were good with them too. Let's hope you pick up on that again quickly. They're a bit dangerous to use." Where another display appeared and vanished in only a second.

Test finished. Lowering gauntlets to standby mode, ready to activate on command.

"Mm, hopefully I do." It seemed kind of stupid to him to use melee weapons when you had pistols and rifles capable of turning a body to ash with a single shot. Then again, his first fight since waking up had proven that sometimes you had no choice. He began to go through the equipment on the table and get it situated, loading up on spare power cells in case of emergency. Loading the rifle and sidearm with cells, and getting the backpack to attach to the clamps that were apparently on the back of his armor. The grenades ended up attached to his belt.

Alavaros cut in as Varis was finishing "Yer set? Good. We have a decent ways to walk before we meet with those religious 'lil freaks. I'd be ready for anything as it's just getting worse out there. There's been worry that the Imperials will shell the planet from orbit if the situation gets dire enough. If they do, that's probably the end of us." The blue eyed Minad then led Varis and Vossan both to the entrance door. "Either way, time't'go."

As the door opened and they stepped out into the fields of red grass. The first thing he noticed was that the sky had gone from blue to a bright emerald green. The second thing he noticed was that it was filled with Debris. All slowly falling to the planet as some battle raged in orbit.
