Chapter 2: Awakening

Chapter 2: Awakening

A couple of hours later...

Using that last dregs of power from the remaining power crystals, powering my life pod, my body is just about to fully patch itself towards a more humanoid form.

Due to earlier's urgency, I did not get a full account of my body's status.

It is the size of a ten your old. Somehow this makes me cringe-y. Like it is typical.

I gradually found feeling towards my limbs. Clasping my hand reveals my smallish hands and feet. I hope that's not the only thing that got reduced. Like that matters at the moment.

Moving on, I delve deeper in my consciousness as I feel a new found power courses through my veins.

As if polar opposites are warring within my body.

It feels indomitable yet ethereal. Like a vast mountain range where the wind sweeps and gales. It evokes a deep resonance of forebearing like very ground you stood on. Solid. Then again it throws you off with how you a sense of wispiness yet carries force.

It is this conundrum that founds me. More so why now? When I can die in this very second.

What is the point?

It gives an inkling of the same truth about, momentum. Where given time it can be soft and hard.

I don't know if it has anythingto do with this body I inherited or to do with whatever I used to patch myself with.

I won't find out until I get myself out of here.

Just as this chrysalis that encased me starts to crack open. I feel this new-found power start to pool and congeal into a writhing whirlpool just under my navel.

Some philosophies claim this as the Dantian.

From something I read yonks ago. It details how it is an elixir field of energy. A sea of qi. Something about how immortal warriors stem their very power from. A foundation of sorts.

With very little knowledge, my body somehow knew at a primal level what to do.

Although it did this without my consent, it is still a god send though.

I just hope it helps.

It might just help me survive until I get my bearings.

Even with this help, it still brings me concern due to its volatile nature. I need to figure out how to better stabilize it.

Somehow with a wry smile you recall a scene in your past life about a wizened old man melting into a pool of viscera and prismatic explosion. All the while yelling, "I am melting".

Definitely a big NOPE. That visuals though.

Thick liquids seep out and gush all over the floor.

Light enters my eyes as I squint to take note of my surroundings.

I stepped out.

My limbs still weak and unfamiliar.

Tubes and wiring gets pulled and snagged, as I yank myself out of this liquid cage.

The cold and sticky cobblestone gives me neural feedback.

With weak knees I stumbled towards the floor on all fours as I try to get used to how this body feels.

As I went to grab a hold of something stabilise myself, I ended up touching something.

Lights flashed.

With a light digitised voice it chimed, "system rebooting".

With a light glow the small screen on the life pod came up with a bunch of lines reminiscent of the old DOS systems.

I Arcturus Pebblesworth, (a renowned Loremaster) acquired this young specimen from a slave pen over at Jotungrav. This was prior to coming this hellhole of an elemental plane.

(excuse my language)

I forgot myself. I obtained for a mere 19 silvers. For a dead one it was still a bit dear. But I digress.

With this I can further my research.

Whilst clearly dodging my old employers, the Inquisitors from the Arcanum Mysterium.

It is a dead remains of a young earth genasi boy. Clearly a result from its lackadaisical fight against some monstrous beast at the colisseum.

The Medici called him Ydraz Stoneborn.

I have further acquired same more blood work from those pesky peddlers. This shall aid me with my grand plan of raising a Flesh Golem, with the power of an Elemental Tempest.

Albeit on the small-ish side.

I recall it being the blood from an Earth wyrm and a Storm Roc.

With that it can help me understand how earth and air can interact.

Food is getting scarce. This barren extra planar plane is starting to become a bad idea.

I first came here hoping to better get insights on the primal elements.

The animals are getting restless.

I fear them revolting soon.

Something broke out of its cage. I think it is one of those darn rodents. It was the one I injected a earth elemental blood from the Earth wyrm.

"Well that might not have been a good idea", as I mused to myself something jumped me from the back.

With instinct kicking in I rolled forward.

Using that momentum I fling this squirming mass towards the wall. With a crash it slammed with a resounding crash.

I hope that did not alert anything else about my presence.

Staggering it shakes it's head. With killing intent radiating from its beady eyes. This might have been the one that got its hind leg hurt due to the caustic web.

With a squeak it launched itself towards me for a forward tackle in its berserked state.

Somehow with the adrenalin kicking in, you crossed your arms to block this attack.

This triggered something within you as you channel the power coursing through your veins towards your forearms. Elemental earth crusts over your forearms to take the brunt of the slashing claws.

With the nullified attack you grab a hold of the rat's arms. By doing it allowed you to better kick it towards the ceiling.

After the battleshock resides you start to get your bearings back, whilst you also get your second wind back.

Using the earlier vision you had, you empower your hands, as you go for the offensive.

Elemental earth and wind courses through your body as you use it to start pummelling towards the rat. You dodge and weave like how air is elusive. Like how tempestuous the wind can be, your fists blur in a fists of flurry.

Out of desperation the rat uses its steel strengthened tail to lacerate your leg and trip you over, cracking your head on shattered glass.

A short moment later.

Unbeknownst to you, may it be luck or instinct, you used a spike of earth to pierce through the mouth of the rat.

In its death throes you struggle with your waning strength. The fight saps you of your meagre strength.

You don't even understand, where the strength came from. But you are still glad anyway.

Shaking your head from nausea, you turned your head to the left. You are greeted with the mauled head, with what you think is the remains of Mr Pebblesworth.

"Oh just my bloody luck! I guess I found out what happened to you then," you exclaimed.

As anticlimactic as it is, you blanked out again. I hope this is not a recurring incident.
