Chapter 2 - The Arrival of Time_Plane of Darkness

When I came around, school is already over, the orange sunlight shone into the classroom and onto my face. When I turned my head around, I see Luthriel, Aquis, Nightius and Master Inoxion standing beside me. I felt headache hammering in my head constantly.

“That hurts. What actually happened just now when I lost myself?” I asked them.

“You transformed. Apparently the seven seals on you were lifted after Merlin attacked all of you, and you revealed your true form. Your power is incredibly strong and overwhelming, it even overpowered my magic. Your will seems to be bent towards the destruction of the entire Existence and recreating another in the process, the reason is something about the recycling of mana flow. You set up a destructive spell around the school itself and devoured quite a few rooms, all of us were frozen and unable to do anything to stop you. You could have easily destroyed the entire Existence with that power of yours, luckily the seals reactivated again soon after and you were stopped. Your magic is dispelled after you fell unconscious and we went to fixing up everything before disabling the Light’s magic, of course we covered our presence from all the humans here.” Master Inoxion explained.

“You were so powerful. I cannot imagine what could have happened if your seals are not reactivated back then. We need to know what the factor is that cause those seals to be lifted to prevent another incident as such from happening again, and we may not be so lucky the next time round.” Nightius said.

“I cannot explain this, but it seems my mind is being controlled by something else. I kept hearing screams in the back of my mind, and all that is in my mind is destruction of everything and fear of others. I have very little control over my movements, however that was enough for me to give Aquis the Calling Crystal. I also need to figure out how to control that power appropriately if the seal is lifted again.” I replied in a weak voice. Using that power seemed to have drained my physical strength severely, I barely have energy to move myself.

“This is a bad place to discuss anything, let’s move to your room, Innight, Luthriel. We will further discuss this topic once we have are there.” Nightius said.

As I barely have enough energy to move, Nightius shifted me into my room and everyone teleported there instead.

“Alright. We need to find out what is the factor causing the seal the break and how to reactivate it once it does break. I have created a barrier around the room so it will prevent anyone from accessing the room itself.” Master Inoxion said.

“First thing first, we need to know what exactly Merlin did to trigger the seal to break. If you please, Luthriel or Aquis, either of you need to explain it. Innight looks to be severely weakened after that transformation. Please try to explain as detailed as possible of the events that occurred up to the point Innight transformed.” Master said.

Luthriel and Aquis repeated the entire sequence of events that occurred, they were interrupted when they reached the point where they described Aquis’ death.

“So Aquis, your soul were trapped by Merlin at that time? And I guessed Merlin continued to drop him into despair, am I right?” Master asked.

“Yes.”

“This is my guess. The seals are only temporarily lifted when Innight is experiencing great despair. This acts as a form of revenge to those that went against him, and this seal is reverted back once he gained his revenge on them. This is only a guess so I could be wrong, but I think it is safe to assume this is the case for now. We need to perform a few more things before I leave, I need to train Innight in controlling that power of his if it ever happens again, I also need the information that you have gathered, Aquis.”

“I will not allow Innight to transform again, after that dangerous incident. However, I will need to analyse the seals that lies beneath him, I will need you, Innight, to show us the seals. That will allow me to break the seals one day and hopefully allow to use your power for us. However I also need you to train your power, to ensure that you will not go berserk as how you previously did.”

“Are you sure about this, Master? I still retain the memory when I have transformed, I am unsure how will I go against my fate as a weapon of destruction, as I fear one day I may need to reach the point of doing so.”

“I’m definite about this decision. If that day has to come we will see how the battle travels. Now can you please reveal the seals, Innight?”

“As you wish, Master Inoxion. Vdoxcina Reqium!”

Six magical circles of seals appeared on my body, one is missing.

“Only six? I remembered there are seven seals. What happened to the seventh seal? Is it broken?”

“It appears to be the case. I can feel power flowing within myself even though I’m exhausted after the transformation just now. I have no idea how did it happen though.”

“Never mind that, we have to be careful of you using any magic though. If each seal locks a portion of your power, knowing the power that you hold just now when all the seals are lifted, one seal alone is still going to be very powerful. Also, we need to know when the transformation can occur from the breakage of seal, we will then be able to predict when to restrict your power.”

Master took out a piece of parchment and drew the seals onto it, he analysed them for a while before saying “I have no idea how to break the seals. They are all composed of very ancient text and even those that I could understand are highly encrypted. If I cannot understand the language the seal is written with I cannot figure out a way to break it. Innight, you have to help us by regaining your memory of your knowledge in The Gap. I predict these symbols are of the language of The Gap, which I have no knowledge of, only you will know. We will need you to figure this out as soon as possible.”

I allowed the seals to vanish. Master stood up and spoke to Aquis, she gave him a green sphere, around a palm size. Master took it and hid it under his armour.

“I have done my job here. Innight, heed my words, do not engage in any dangerous acts. If your seals were all lifted again I have no idea what will happened and I would not be able to stop you.”

Master teleported away after saying these words. Nightius and Aquis bid us farewell as they walked out of the room, but not before Nightius disabled the barrier. Only Luthriel and I were left in the room. The sky outside has already darkened into night time, we both laid down on our beds and I turned off the lights.

“Today has been a crazy day! First we discovered another member of Darkness and she is a girl. Then we fought a wave of Light armies, the girl gets killed, and you revealed your true power, wiping out all the members of Light in the process. You then decide to destroy everything and recreate the Existence. Master came by to stop you but even He is powerless. You nearly destroyed the whole school and intended to destroy the entire Existence, luckily your seals reactivated and stopped you. So much events happened in just two days of me joining the Darkness, I wonder if I could see anything more?”

“I’m dead tired after today, Luthriel. Other than the event of me revealing my true self, the other events you have saw are nearly daily occurrence that we all members of Darkness, get to experience. I need to rest to rebuild my strength. After these two attacks Light has lost its power over here so we can be sure they won’t attack us again anytime sooner.”

The next day we met up with Aquis. We are supposed to find out information from her and help out on her mission but yesterday was a mess so we had no chance to. From what she told us, Light is planning to recreate the Creator as well, as they found a fragment of the Creator’s magic. Luckily for us, they have little idea on which kind of magic to use for recreation and they lack of the knowledge and power to do so. However it is because of this they are trying to kidnap me, they are trying to extract the knowledge of mine and knowing I have no magic capability due to the seals I’m completely vulnerable. After yesterday’s incident they are likely to change their plans, though, after witnessing such dangerous power it should deter them from doing anything foolish for some time.

The day passed peacefully, it seemed abnormal to have a day of peace after two great incidents happened. When school ended and I wanted to return to my dormitory, someone called me.

“Hey, Innight? Do you have a moment?”

That came from my class chairman. He is what you will tag as a “perfect student”, always the first in class in academics, good in sports, have great communication skills and often surrounded with friends, his looks are also perfect so often asked by many girls to go out with them. I detest such creatures, they just put up a perfect looking profile of themselves but deep down they are rotten to the core. This may make me sound hypocritical as I’m a member of Darkness, but as previously mentioned, those that are Darkness themselves are not evil.

I replied “Yes” to him and he asked me to follow him to his room for a short conversation.

“I need our help, Innight. You are the only person I can talk about this. I understand that you are busy….”

“Just cut to the chase will you? I don’t have the whole day.”

“As you wish, Innight. I have overheard this from others, you appear to be interested and is doing study on the Occult, am I right to say that?”

“Correct, but what does that have to do with you?”

“I need your help from your knowledge of the Occult. I have recently received an object from one of the girls around myself, and I suspect it may be a cursed object. After I received the object I have been experiencing various strange events occurring around myself, seeing odd-looking creatures around the school. I don’t want to throw away an object that a girl gave me as I fear to hurt her feelings, so I need you to help me to identify whether this is a cursed object and if it is, what I should do to lift the curse.”

I snickered. He and many others often targeted and isolated me because of how I involved in the works of Darkness Elemental Plane. I’m a stranger in the class and often I’m non-existent in their eyes. I have gave up talking to anyone in my class because of how they always treat me and now he wants me to forget all about it. Impossible. I will need him to pay a price before I will do him a favour.

“I can’t help you, not that easily. First thing is because you always disbelief all my studies on the Occult, even though large amount of people went after it. I am unconvinced that you are willing to perform any rituals that can lift the curse as your level of belief on the topic of Occult is so little that it is almost non-existent. The second reason is I cannot forgive you that easily for completely isolating me from everyone in the class using your power, and the reason is because you hate anyone that studies The Occult. Do you have any idea how much pain I suffered without a single soul to talk with? Of course not, Mr. Perfect! Always surrounded by friends, chased after by girls and always have someone to talk to, and that is how you are. What about me? I’m always alone. Foolish Maningson has left, and now I don’t even have someone that performs their nonsense on myself! I will not be helping you, not after all that has happened!” I shouted back at him. He cringed for a moment, I can tell he is regretting all his actions that he had performed in the past on me. This is how I exact revenge on my target, it is tough to bear all the pain that others have forced upon you, but I always convinced myself to bear with it because I know the wind will eventually change for me. I enjoy this moment of sweet revenge as he kneeled on the ground and bowed.

“I’m sorry, Innight! It is all my fault. Please forgive me! I really need your help on this, you are the only help I can seek!”

I decide to forgive him for now. I will seek more revenge when the time is right.

“Fine. I will make an exception this time to your case since I find your case to be intriguing. Show me the object.”

He quickly got up from the ground and hold up a little glass bottle. Inside the battle contains a little statuette of the class chairman himself, surrounded by a certain liquid that constantly changing colours. I can sense a reverse flow of magic on the object itself, indicating the object is cursed. Also, many layers of curse is placed on the object, each are interlinked to another through some way or another. These curses produced a magic field around himself and this allows him to able to observe any Creatures of the Elemental Planes. I will need to lift this curse a soon as possible but due to the interconnectivity of the curses this will take some effort.

“You have an interesting object. I will take this object for tonight and see what I can do about it. Do note that I am only helping you because you are an interesting case for me to discover. Meet me again tomorrow in the class at five, I will be reporting to you the result of my works.”

I went back to my room, Luthriel was already waiting for me there. I sighed and explained to him what the class chairman wanted from me.

“So Mr. Perfect got himself a cursed object. Innight, judging by what you have described, we have to lift these curses before he gets tangled up in the business of the Elemental Planes. From his personality he is most likely going to fall under a member of Light, and we will not want any member of Light to be anywhere near us.”

“Indeed. Luthriel, avoid disturbing me for the next few minutes. Help me put up a barrier around the room.”

I drew a magic circle in the middle of the room and placed the cursed object in the middle. I begin conjuring a potion and took out six empty crystals for the ritual, I waited for the potion to finish brewing before I start the ritual. I first drip some drops of the potion on the five sides of the star in the magic circle, and I placed one crystal near one of the sides. I begin to chant the Spell of Removal.

“Tsuni esadio menoxis esoda. Nxveiu luricis morxev ryxis Cano Dsylsia Cyanix Menivium Concruxim Nuosic Actesium Menagite”

The circle glowed blue and the bottle glowed violet. Streams of magic flows out from it but the magic circle prevents them from overflowing outside. I see six small purple magical circles surrounding the bottle itself, all interlinked with green chains in between. This is a very old form of magic, belonged to The Void, I’m doubtful whether I am able to break this magic as I have very little memory on the Old Magic of The Void.

“Innight…This…”

“Correct, even you should know about this. This is an old form of Void magic, so old that even I myself have very little memory of it. Had I break all my seal I might be able to remember this form of magic and maybe break it. I will have to try all that I know about this, and I may injure myself by doing so. The Old Magic of The Void is very powerful and deadly, and all the curses requires sinful acts to be lifted, to make it worse the curse is encrypted, just as how my seals are. I will have to try, though.”

I tried to decrypt the curse first, to simplify the job for myself, I have very little success after two hours, and the clock in my room stroke ten. I decide to take a risk and involve the magic I have.

“Magical Incarnation unlock.”

I activated the magic I have released from the first seal and put it through the encrypted curse. It took another thirty minutes before I finally discovered the start and end point of the encryption and I found the key to decrypt the curse.

“I understand the curse now. This is The Curse of Night. The receiver of this curse is doomed to wander around in night for eternity and nightmares will always haunt him whether he is dead or alive. If the receiver disregard the curse and wander in the day, his appearance will change according to how long he stayed in the sun, until he finally transforms into a Creature of The Void. The curse also torture the receiver endlessly through various images and sounds, gradually pushing the receiver into madness. This curse is a complicated curse that contains six other minor and small curses interlinked and crossed together. Normally this curse is only performed by The Void, but after The Void came under Darkness’ control various caster capable of performing Old Magic faded away. If this is here it means those caster are returning.”

“Amazing, Innight. Now you have to just break this spell and we can rest.”

“Sadly this is not going to be simple. Each separate minor curse requires different forms of sacrifice to break them. I will need the youth of a new born child, eyes of the closest friend, screams from a pair of parents, heart of a girl in love, a spine from the only child of a rich and the happiness of the elder. These are all difficult ingredients to be found and I will need one of each to break the curse and lift it. Luthriel, I will need you to gather the ingredients for me, I will look for them as well, we will all meet back here by midnight. We don’t have time. Magical Incarnation Disperse.”

When I returned back to the room it was already 9 minutes past midnight, and Luthriel was waiting for me.

“You are finally here, Innight. Someone tried to barge into the room, and the attack form is magical. Luckily the barrier held and the person went off, I’m unsure if it was Aquis but she must have understood why. I’ve got the youth, the spine, the happiness and the heart. Did you get the rest, Innight?”

“Good work, Luthriel. Actually I’ve retrieved all the six items required so I wouldn’t need your ingredients, but I will just keep it just in case in the future we will need it again.”

I pounded every item into fine dust and poured them into the empty crystals. I then use magic to move the crystals the purple magic circle, allowing each crystal to land on one magic circle.

“And now we have to wait for the crystals to drain out the curse, if all goes well the curse should be dispersed.”

Slowly the purple magic circles vanished as the crystal started to glow purple, soon the 6 magic circles disappeared and the streams of magic vanished.

The large magic circle stopped glowing. I took out the bottle, no signs of magic flow is visible on the bottle. The object is now cleanse of the curse. I collected the crystals and threw it into my potion flask, they dissolved and I finished the potion.

“We are done, and we are way past our bedtime, I don’t think there is even any use to even sleep now. Luthriel, you can disable the barrier now. Let us talk until the sun rise.” I said.

“Innight, why did you just drank the potion with those crystals? Wouldn’t you receive the curse yourself?”

“I’m special. Remember what I have said? I’m a Creature of The Void that live in The Gap, I lived longer than anything you can image and I control the recreation of Existence. I’m different from all the other member of Darkness and I feed on magic of various forms, even curses. Doing so strengthens myself.”

The night went past quickly as we talked. The clock ringed at seventy 20, I prepared myself for another day of school.

The next day I gave the bottle back to Mr. Perfect.

“Here you go. There was a curse place on your gift and it was quite a strong one, I have lifted it for you and it should give you no problems now. You will need to understand you were lucky that you approached me sooner, if you have shown me this any later the curse would have consumed you and turned you into something else. Be grateful to me for saving you.”

“I thank you greatly, Innight. Please call me Hactus, if you please. I will correct all my mistakes I have previously done to show my gratitude.”

“As you wish, Hactus. If you indeed find one day interested in the teachings of Occult, inform me. I am always looking for more people interested and are willing to research on such a topic.”

We part ways to our seats and did not talk to each other for the rest of the day. I begin to rethink on the incident of the cursed object. The girl that gave Hactus definitely remained as human form, this means that either she had the cursed item for a short period of time, or she knows the curse of the item, or she is the caster of the curse. Whichever is the option, I need to keep an eye for the girl. She must have association with The Void’s old casters to have gain such an object, I will snoop around Hactus to find who that girl is and survey her.

Break time came. 5 minutes later, I stood up and started to walk towards Luthriel for a chat, when suddenly a group of the boys surrounded me.

“You are Innight? We have an order from Hactus to be friends with you, occult guy. Be grateful that he is willing to send us to be your friends.”

I kept silent. I knew the better of the boys. They endorsed themselves within nothing but the lewd things, always detested by the girls due to their lewd and gangster-like behaviours. I distanced myself far away from them as much as I can as they disgust me. I would rather be friends with the girls than with this group of boys.

“Are you mute? Thank us properly! Thank us for being so kind hearted, or else you wouldn’t have anyone to talk with other than that weird guy!”

They pushed me around, just as they would have done to any others that they bullied. I remained silent and kept a straight face. If I spoke anything they will use it against me, which is how a gangster like them works. If I act they will take it as an account of defence and attack me, they can also use my act of defence as an excuse to attack me by lying to the teachers I attacked them first. So, either way I have little choice but to wait for them to have their fun and leave me alone.

“Hum, such a useless insect. Speak! If not I will show you how we offer our forms of thanks!”

I still remained silent. Getting beaten up without counterattacking or putting up any acts of defence I would save myself from any potential problems I might land into. I have been keeping a clean record on my school profile and I will not want to get it stained by anything.

“Mindless creature.”

The tallest and most well-built boy punched in my face, breaking my glasses. I heard a few gasp from the people around. There is still fifty minutes before any teacher will arrive to assess the situation, before that happens I have to hold the grudge up, I will get my revenge on them one day, but not now. I flew, crashed against the wall and crumbled there. A punch then followed, straight onto my stomach.

“Heh, weakling. Do you seriously think anyone will save you? That weird friend of your is plainly useless, Hactus is not around to see this, no teachers is going to be here for the next fifty minutes. If you don’t fight yourself you will suffer hell!” Another punch was delivered after this speech, blood started tickling from my mouth.

“13.” I whispered.

“Eh, what is it that you say? Speak louder!”

“Thirteen. Do any it more than that and you will suffer the consequence.”

“What kind of big shot crap are you giving me?! I’m going to give you more than that! Such weaklings have no position to argue! If you want to show you are strong fight back then!” A kick landed itself on my face, I’m certain my skull receive a crack after that impact caused my head to smash against the wall.

I’m not in my state of mind now, I can feel my true self is being awakened. Those words didn’t come from myself as something within myself is speaking. This is bad, if something isn’t done quickly and the seals undo themselves the entire school will be destroyed in seconds.

More punch and kicks followed and found their way onto myself. I licked the blood tickling from my mouth, and as the thirteenth blow landed on myself I saw the six seals appearing before my eyes and one of them broke. A magic circle appear before myself and I begin to transform again, and I can see various signs of fear creeping up on the face of all the people in the class, Luthriel and Aquis froze at their spot. The boys stopped attacking me all at once.

“You have gone a little too far this time, fragile human. Magnosis!”

A ball of red spell flew towards the leader of the group, he was blasted across several rooms before the spell faded.

“That is only the few of the weakest spell I can cast, I have weakened the spell by a few million times of its’ original power. Those of the lowest birth should not be facing themselves against someone like me. Just because I’m not reacting does not mean I’m weak, it is only me testing your sixth sense, which almost all of you here are lacking. Remember this well, foolish creatures, I hope I do not have to resort to doing this again. I curse all of you will never see the day of Light again, those who does will disintegrate into nothingness. Only when you understand the truth of this world this curse will be lifted.” I finished the curse in a cold voice, I managed to suddenly take control of myself and forced the transformation to undone itself. I managed to see only 5 seals left on myself before the transformation came undone.

The bell rang, signifying the end of break. Everyone is still frozen at their positions, I don’t blame them. I have to scream “Hello” for all of them to come back to their senses.

“Ha… very funny, Innight! Curse? Such things don’t exist! Look, I’m standing in the sun, nothing...” One of the boys in the group moved towards the window with the sunlight shining onto himself and said this. Before he could finish his sentence, a magical circle with the symbol of The Void appeared under him, his entire body lit on fire and in seconds his entire body disintegrated into nothingness. Gasps came from everyone in the class, some girls even screamed. Well, at least this taught all of them an important lesson on not bullying the weak.

“What is happening here?”

Our Maths teacher walked in with Hactus and saw the damage in the class. No one said anything about it and no one can explain the disappearance of one of the classmate. Luthriel used magic to whisper to me, “You really messed up big time this round. Luckily it seems you managed to control your power this time to prevent any widespread damage. However with you destroying the classrooms, showing everyone your true self and placing a curse on everyone in this class, we might get more problems in the way,”

“I will have to see how things turns out. I’m grateful, however, on the fact that they caused the second seal to be completely lifted and I’m able to stabilise the power. Help me report to Master Inoxion on this matter.”

Class ended late, everyone stayed within dark corners in the class when I left the class for my dormitory. I intent to leave the curse on them as they will soon entangle themselves within the matters of Darkness and Light as long as stay in this class so it will be a good time for them to find out the truth of this Realm.

When I opened the door of room, Nightius and Master Inoxion is already waiting for me inside. I know what to expect from the both of them, after hearing Luthriel’s report no one will be stupid enough to ignore the danger of myself. Aquis and Luthriel both entered the room as well.

“You should fully understand what brought us here, Innight.”

“Of course. That was not in my power to control the movements of other humans and I had tried my best to hold the magic in, but it is too powerful.”

Nightius shook his head.

“This can’t do. Now the word that you are of something not of human has spread around the entire school and I have to bear with it. They claimed it is spirit possession due to the activities involved in doing research in the Occult studies, which is rubbish. They are now trying to use this reason to force me to close down the room, which I will definitely go against it, I will need that room as our meeting place. Innight, you really have brought us more problems faster than we could solve it.”

“Innight, it appears we need to either fully lock you into a permanent human entity to stop the seals from being lifted every time, or we have to eliminate of forms of those lower human forms. I doubt I can fully lock those seals as I don’t even understand any of the magic used in the spell to begin with. I will leave this incident untouched this time as I highly doubt any human will be foolish enough to approach you after this incident.”

“One more thing, Master Inoxion. Apparently one of the seal broke again. I suspect each seal breaks when I am under despair, and each seal takes an increasing amount of despair to break. Also I have managed to keep the power under control so the problem should not accelerate at this rate.”

“I suspected it. That would be enough for this session. Innight, before I leave, I need you to answer me why did you place such a curse on them?”

“I can’t say too much on it. However I think there is something about The Void involving themselves within the class, it is only a matter of time before the truth is out itself and it is never too late for them to get entangled within the matters first.”

“There are? I didn’t detect any form of Void magic around this area and I thought they have always kept their behaviours proper.”

“Yes. I found a cursed object that was casted with the Old Magic of The Void, which I have thought that no one knows how to perform it now. I have heard the object came from a normal human girl, and I’m doing some investigations on this matter. It could not just be coincidence, cursed object that powerful could not have stayed with a human without any consequence, and from what I have gathered the human looked normal.”

“I see. This matter may be more complicated than we imagined. If The Void is indeed involved within this entire matter we might have to be careful on how we move from now on, especially when it is of Old Magic. Innight, please continue investigating on this matter and also remember, Light is also planning to recreate a Light-based Creator which we have to prevent at all cost.”

Master took his leave. Nightius sighed.

“Innight, you really have to be careful on how you behave now. I supposed that you cannot be blamed for what happened today, since those others started the fight and you didn’t retaliate to prevent getting into trouble. However as more problems pops up and with your level of power you have to be wary on how you behave. Also, I overheard another student just got obliterated for going against your curse. Your rumour might continue to get worse, you should try to avoid getting too much attention and keep your profile low now.”

With that, Nightius walked out of the room. Aquis and Luthriel both start talking.

“Innight, what is on your mind when you put that curse? We are also affected is as well thanks to you!’

“Calm down, both of you. Obviously I will not let that happen to both of you, if you have not noticed, you both already knew the truth about this Realm. The curse does not work on both of you as a result.”

“I have overheard some of the other girls going head over heels over you though, after watching how you blew that bully straight across the room. You looked cool, really.” Aquis said.

“Some boys appeared to have started the idea of being your underling and to learn how you performed that magic of yours. I told them they wouldn’t be able to learn anything but they ignored me.” Luthriel followed.

“This can’t be good for me. I don’t want crowds to suddenly follow me wherever I go. I also need to keep a low profile to snoop around and identify the target of interest, especially on the girl who gave the cursed object. Not to mention I need to keep an eye on any activity Light intend to do around this region, if it happens.” I replied.

“Whatever it is, I will leave it to tomorrow, and I need to sleep. Aquis, go back to your own room before they start another new rumour about me. Try to avoid giving away any information about me to anyone, remember, the last thing I want is a group of followers.”

Aquis left the room and when I’m just about to turn off the lights, a knock came from the door. I went over and opened it, a blonde haired girl with a pair of blue eyes is standing in front of the doorway. Her black long hair straightened down so long that it nearly touched the floor.

“Um… Are you Innight? My name is Nectilius. I’m here to see how you are doing after that incident during the break.”

“Yes I’m Innight. Why are you worried about that matter? I wouldn’t tolerate people who bully others just because they look weak, I did received a few injuries but I have very quick healing abilities, those injuries were already gone.”

“Ah I see then… I admire you, Innight! Hopefully we can become friends! Good night!” She said these and flashed me a smile before rushing off. I have gathered information from Hactus before, this Nectilius is the girl that gave him the cursed item. Why did she approached me so quickly when everyone is still trying to recover from the shock? I guessed that she must be really enthusiastic about seeing myself, which should be the best explanation.

The next day I kept feeling people staring at me. During the break I decided to give myself a breather and visit Nightius, and behind me a huge group of people stalked after, they hide themselves very well but I can sense them. When I arrived at the room, I suddenly felt a wave of Light magic swept over the place, I immediately raised an alert to Aquis and Luthriel through magic.

I touched the door and found various seal of Light was casted onto it. I’m starting to get anxious, Light has never outright use magic without ensuring there is protection around. Placing seal on a room that is commonly accessed, allowing waves of magic to ripple and disturb the various lifeforms that lives within the school without control, this is not something Light will often do.

I turned around to look at the crowd, they were all squatting down as they cover their head in pain. This is a result of human interacting with uncontrolled wave of magic. If I do not find the cause and stop it, it will kill them, or if they are lucky, they will undergo a transformation into other creatures that feeds on magic. Whichever route it turns out, they will be killed, and I will not let that happen.

I analysed the seals on the door, there are at least 4 different casters that set the seals on the door as the magical signature of each seal is different. Often this is done to ensure others have problems breaking the seals as such seals often interlink and to destroy one seal individually is not possible. To break this seal I have to figure out the signature of all the seals and break all of them at once, this is a simple task to me as I have dealt with much more complicated spells before.

I tried doing a reverse reading on the spell and figured out the signatures and the individual starting and endings of each seal. I forced my magic onto the seal to overload the restriction placed on the seal and the seal all break at once. I flung the door open and see Nightius bound in a magical circle and magic is flowing out from it towards somewhere else, two creatures of Light were standing guard there. I immediately blasted the two guards straight out of the window and begin analysing the circle.

This circle is a spell executed for extraction of magic. What I’m intrigued is not why they perform it here, but where are they intending to use the magic on. I decide to send a tracking crystal on the flow of the magic movement to investigate what Light is up to, at the same time I attempt to force the spell out of control. Nightius suddenly fidgeted a little from his position.

“Nectar…Under…Creation…Time….Prevent…” Fragments of what I thought to be a sentence came from him. I do not understand what he meant by then, as his life is in danger now and it is more important to disable this spell first. This spell is the cause of the wave of magic that is running amok, and it is also the link Light is using to create a form of connection between the Elemental Realm and Physical Realm. I cannot force the spell to break through overloading the control as it may potentially destroy Nightius as well. I have to disconnect the source of mana for this magic to stop the spell safely, but to do that I will need to enter The Gap, which is dangerous without anyone watching the situation here.

“Innight! This wave of magic..!”

Luthriel and Aquis managed to rush here, just when I needed them now, perfect timing.

“Both of you, I will need your help. I need to enter The Gap to view where the mana flow of this spell is and disconnect it from there, only then Nightius can be saved. Both of you need to keep a lookout from anyone attempting to break in and keep an eye on the stalkers outside. Any moment they may start to transform, do not hurt them, and only lock them down if absolutely necessary. I want to have the least casualty as possible in this event.”

They both nod their heads in agreement. I prepared a transport spell and entered into The Gap, the world became purple and I could no longer interact with any item of the Physical Realm. I see various streams of mana flowing everywhere around myself, mainly from somewhere outside the school and from somewhere beneath the school. I traced the source of mana for the circle to be outside the school, it makes me curious why is there mana flow coming from beneath the school but this is not the time to investigate now.

Strange creatures wander around The Gap as I flew towards the source of magic, some of them reminds me of the other Void creatures we have in the Void Elemental Plane. I found several pillars connected to the mana flow I am analysing, and a General of Light is guarding those pillars. I exited from The Gap to sneak up onto him, but he spotted me first, I was flung from the exit I created and onto the stone ground.

“Who are you? How dare you interfere with our operations of Light?”

Chains of Light were forced onto me and tied me up. I’m powerless against Light spells if I’m not in my true form as the amount of magic that I need to counter these spells are great and I lack of them. Even with two out of the seven seals are lifted I still lack of enough power to counter it, I’m now in trouble.

“Looks like we got him this time.” A familiar voice came from behind me and a blinding figure appeared before my face. It is Luricerite, the Grand Ruler of Light.

“Luricerite. The Grand Ruler of Light. Someone that holds such great powers should refrain from showing themselves to others even in the Elemental Realm. What has caused someone as important as you do to appear at such a place?”

Luricerite smiled. He took out a sword of that is made of pure light and pointed it at me.

“Innight, the Piece of Darkness. You have done plenty of damage here to show how dangerous you are as an enemy against us. You have even single-handedly killed one of my strongest Generals, Merlin, and almost attempted to destroy the entire Existence, using only but the very tip of your power. I have to use my own power to ensure that you don’t attempt to break out of our grasp again.”

“I figured as much. How much information have you gathered through your spies, I wonder?”

“Not too much, but whatever that you have done on a large scale I have records of them. Now you have asked your questions, I need to ask mine. What are you hiding from us, The Piece? You should not hold power of such scale and you should follow your Master’s commands but you went against it. What is your real identity?”

“I have no intention to tell you that. You have something else on your mind that you require me, which is why you have constantly tried to set traps to capture me.”

“You are observant indeed. Now can you please allow us to destroy you? ”

A magical circled with Darkness symbol inscribed within appeared before us, Master Inoxion appeared from it.

“I have been informed by Aquis and Luthriel about strange waves of magic appearing within the school itself so I came here to have a look myself. I did have some suspicion that you Light is involved in this matter, I don’t know why would you openly show yourself this time but it doesn’t matter. Hand The Piece back to me or else I will risk another battle here.”

“You know my answer, Evil One. I’m also wanted to try out something new I have created and this is my chance.”

Each of them drew out their respective weapons and start to fight. I watched them as they threw spells around the field, at the same time I felt presence of magic instability, and I suspect some people must have been affected by the wave of magic and has transformed. Time is clearly running out for us, if those creatures are not controlled or killed they will consume other human’s spirit and drain their life force. I just have to wait for Master to clear of Light and free me before the entire school turns from a human school into a school of monsters.

Suddenly Master fell from the heights and crashed to the ground. I felt his magic is heavily weakened to the point that it mirrors that of a human, it is nigh impossible for Master to drain his magic to this point as he have not perform any high level magic. Unless, of course, Luricerite used Insigma. If he did use Insigma then we are on the losing side and I will be taken away by Light.

“How does it taste like, Evil One, to be hit by the same spell you did on us previously? I have secretly casted it the moment you tried to communicate with The Piece, now your magic powers as just as weak as a human, you cannot stand against us now. Can you please back off now? We will return you The Piece once we have extract the information we want. Be thankful that we are letting you off even though we could end your reign in the Elemental Realm right now.”

Master crawled from the ground and stood up. He is now heavily drained of magic that it is impossible for him to counter any attacks Luricerite throws at him, he should back off to save himself, but according to his character, he would rather sacrifice himself than to let me be taken by Light.

“Come to think of it, you are recruiting people from this school itself, isn’t it, Evil One? You are dragging more people into your Realm itself and I suspect you have hidden many spies within this region itself. I have even heard of you intending to set up a new base around here, now as Light ourselves we cannot allow that to happen, can we?”

They can’t be serious about this. If my guess is correct, their aim is to destroy the entire school here, but why? We never intend to create any bases around here, though it is true that we have sent many spies into this school itself, but it is because this location is one of the gathering places for Light for all their high levelled operations. They must have other reason for destroying this school, but what is it?

“Innight…”

Master moaned. I detect the level of magic within him is not going to give him enough strength to do anything at all against them.

Luricerite opened up a portal and threw Master inside.

“Back to where you should belong, Evil One. We will send you image of our result once we have done our work.”

Turning to face me, he left a grin on his face, I saw his eyes twinkling with plots to harm me.

“So I’m wondering, The Piece, how did you manage to kill off Merlin the last time. Is it a power burst, or is it a potion? Or was it additional help from something else?”

I kept silent. Telling the truth will only make my situation worse, my only hope to escape is to trigger the transformation and wipe out Luricerite and his general, to do that I need him to force despair onto myself.

His feet suddenly landed on my face.

“So how is it, Innight? What is the secret behind the event? I can do this method of torturing all day until you speak. Don’t even think about escaping us, I have already sent Flying Eyes to check on you, all your movements are tracked by us. Until you fully answer me, you will stay here with us. Your Master is not going to be able to help you anytime sooner.”

He said these as he twist my head around with his feet, I felt pain, but there is little of what I could do about it. After a few minutes he started stomping on my stomach instead, I felt blood gushing up my body and I vomited them out. His voice gets louder every time he torture me, until it became so loud my ears begin to ring. He then ordered the general to start pouring liquid Light onto myself.

Since I have the nature of Darkness itself, Light is my greatest bane of existence, it burns me greatly, to the point of feeling as if it removes my flesh altogether. There is no words that can describe how Light burns through myself as I experience it. In liquid form Light does not bring the slightest harm to me, but it still burns through my nerves.

“You are a stubborn one, aren’t you? Doesn’t matter, we are here to destroy this ridiculous place and that is our only aim here for now, we will bring you back for further interrogation.”

I thought about my friends in the school itself. I may not show any favour towards them as well but it took me so long to find people that I can finally talk to, and now I’m going to lose all of them?

The seals appeared before my eyes again, all of them breaking at the same moment. I felt the energy surging through myself again, and the transformation occurring as well. I can see the grin vanishing from the face of Luricerite as I transform, he tried various spells on me but all were reflected.

“What kind of witchery is this?”

“Luricerite, this is of no witchery. It is a tiny fraction of my true power that I have always kept it hidden. I do not wish to use it under most circumstances but it appears that you leave me with no choice.”

I waved my hands, which are now claws, over Luricerite’s head. Long purple chains came out from magical circles that formed around him and attached on him. The same thing happened to his general that accompanied him. He tried to break free from it but to no avail.

“What have you done to me, The Piece? What is your intent?”

“Nothing much, really. I just need to seal you properly and send you back to where you should be. Worry not, the chains will unite itself over time. Don’t try to break from it, these are formed using Old Magic, which you definitely have no knowledge of. If you struggle too much it will start absorbing your mana, and you should know what happens when you lose mana.”

I opened up a portal and threw the both of them towards it.

“However, I warn you, Luricerite. Do not dare to create any problems to my school ever again. The next time you try to do this, I will not hold back and will destroy you completely.”

“Remember this, The Piece. We will be back!”

The portal closed once Luricerite and his company vanished form the sight. A seed of pain started growing in my mind, accompanied with it are unintelligible sounds. This is a bad sign, it means any moment I will lose control of myself and my true self will be awakened. I have to prevent that from occurring at all cost. However I’m slowly losing myself, I cannot control over the devilish thoughts invading my mind.

“I... can’t….lose…control… not when so many people is in trouble….Have. To…disable…wave…”

My mind begin to run wild. I start to lose control over my body. I have no control over anything that happens once my true self is revealed and allowed to run wild, I knew that it is of a destructive nature, always hunger for blood, indulging into chaos. I have no name for the other side yet, but it is dangerous and if allowed to let loose, it may obliterate the entire Existence.

That is how powerful it is. At least, that is what it has said before when it has awakened once during the fight with Merlin. I cannot allow it to run loose in this situation. The magic waves in the school is still not stopped, any moment humans inside will start dying. If such situation is still not controlled it may start to spread. I can’t keep myself awake anymore, my sight slowly dwindles and in just seconds, I lost consciousness.

A girl with black dress with orange frills stood under an apple tree just outside the school. She has one right red tinted eye visible, the left eye is covered by her long black hair. She appears to take no interest of anything that is happening around the area, other than keeping an eye on Innight.

“Interesting… So this is how Zealus is now. He is sealed in this human vessel named Innight and is prevented from awakening. He is very late of his job of reconfiguring this world by many rotations of Time itself. The members of Old magic of The Void is looking for ways to forcefully awaken Zealus, The Light intends to eliminate Zealus altogether. While at the same time, I want to be with him, I want to be at his side forever to eternity. However, to do that, I will need more Time first. I have to fight off two parties of significant power if I were to protect Zealus in his current state and my Time is insufficient to put up a fight with them. Ah, but first, I should transfer into his school first and do more observation on him.”

“Overclock. Separation.”

As soon as she spoke, she split into two. Both looks just as similar to another.

“Now then, me, please look after Innight for me.”

“Of course, Me.”

“Remember to replenish your Time if it runs low.”

“Of course, Me.”

Black clouds flowed over one of the girl and transformed her dress into the high school uniform Innight is in. One of them stayed under the tree, the other begin walking towards the school.

“Now then, we better start helping out to clear up whatever mess Light is making and attempt to stabilise Zealus before the situation gets out of hand.”

Saying these, the girl slowly sank into her shadow.

“What is Innight doing? He is taking so long to trace back the source of this magic wave. People are already starting to faint under the impulse of magic being spread around the region. If he does not stop this waves of magic disturbance on time there will be irreversible effects on everyone around here. What…”

Aquis stopped speaking because suddenly both she and Luthriel felt an even powerful wave of magic swept over the region. The sunlight stopped shining through the windows and it appears a shadow just covered the entire school. The waves of magic disturbance stopped almost immediately. Both of them rushed towards the window and saw the sky turned crimson, with the sun coloured black. This is a sign that Innight has unlocked his full powers and is running rampage.

“This…is bad. We are ants in comparison to the near omnipotent powers of Innight. Even if we ask the Grand Master of Darkness he wouldn’t be able to stop him at all if Innight is at his fullest power. We have to hope there is enough time for his seal to reseal itself before he really does destroy this entire region.”

“Ouch that hurts.”

“Lord Nightius! You finally woke up!”

Nightius climbed up from the ground and sat down. The magic circles that bounded him earlier has vanished, and he appears to be heavily drained of energy and is exhausted.

“I briefly remembered that Luricerite and his general attacked me and bound me with Extraction magic. After that I went unconscious and I have no idea what happened, care to explain to me what happened?”

“Actually, this…….”

They both went over the event that happened and report the situation now. Nightius nodded his head.

“Well I see. There is actually nothing that we can do right now to stop Innight. His power is way above any of the Rulers of the Darkness Elemental Plane, not even our greatest ruler, Lord Inoxion can do anything about it. We only have to hope time is in our favour and it reseals him before the situation spirals out of control.”

A huge purple ball of energy blasted through the walls and flew into the middle of the room. It exploded and blew everyone away, flinging everyone onto the walls.

“That must be one of Innight’s attacks. The power that attack holds is far greater than anything I have experienced. Why is there absolutely nothing that we can do?”

“Actually you have.”

“Who goes there?!”

From the shadows of the room a girl climbed out from it. She wore a black dress with orange frills and it is evident she is not any normal human. She appears to be unaffected by the waves of magic disturbance and she randomly popped out from the shadows in the room, which is something that normal humans is unable to do.

“Ah, excuse me from the rude intrusion. My name is Time, Lytheria Time. I have been observing all of you for some time already and I have found it necessary to step in to help out this time. All of you are currently under my field of power, I casted a spell that covered the entire school region and that absorbs Time from anyone that falls under the shadow created by the spell. This spell also cancels out any other forms of magic weaker than it.”

“Absorbs Time? I have never heard of such magic before! Time is not an element in the Magical Realm and cannot be restricted by magic!” Nightius cried.

“Ah, is that so? Hee hee hee. Time is not an elemental in the Magical Realm, for that you are correct. However, Time is an invisible field that surrounds and shape the Space around, with enough power one can have the ability to control it. It is of no surprise that you are unaware of magic that is in relation with Time, such magic are so powerful that they causes one’s Time to be consumed. Due to such price paid for using such magic, it is not used by others unless they have indefinitely long amount of Time stored within themselves or they are able to replenish Time by absorbing it from others everyone now and then.”

“And what is your intended purpose? Why are you helping us?”

“Nothing in particular. I only wanted him, Innight. I desire for him. He is eternal and is both creation and destruction. I myself is similar to him in such ways. However to do that, I need to free him. He is bounded to this human world and human vessel, my aim is to free him from this world and bring him to where we should really belong. In this current state he is in it is not going to help me to reach my aim any sooner, so I decided to help all of you out.”

“I don’t trust her very much, Lord Nightius. If what she said is true, she can be a very dangerous target. Manipulating with Time is a very dangerous ability, if she stops Time there is absolutely nothing we can do about her.”

“I feel we should trust her, Aquis. She appears not to be an enemy, also we will need as much ally that can keep Innight under control, together with the fact that she appears to be more knowledgeable on the past of Innight we cannot afford to lose her.”

“If that is what you say, Lord Nightius.”

“Just so all of you know, I trapped Innight in a Time Cubical. Within Time flows as per normal, however Time experienced within the Time Cubical is significantly slower than outside of it. That will buy us some time before Innight breaks out of it. Innight also have the power to twist Time so we have to hope that the Cubical holds until his transformation comes undone.”

As they speak, the sky suddenly returned back to the evening sky. A wave of energy blasted through the building and all went silent.

“Looks like this time we are lucky. His transformations seems to have undone itself.” Nightius spoke.

“Looks like my job is done here. I bid you all farewell, until Time allows us to meet again…” Time stepped into the shadows of the room and vanished.

“Such a strange character. I hope we won’t meet again.” Aquis said.

“We should not waste any more time here, we should check out Innight now.”

“Right.”

When I came to my senses, I saw four familiar faces looking over myself. They belonged to Nightius, Aquis, Luthriel and Master Inoxion. I looked around the school, and saw a huge crater in the place of where one of the school buildings should be before.

“That was me… Isn’t it? As I guessed, it is too powerful.”

Master Inoxion nod his head.

“We were lucky. Someone came by and tried to seal you in what she called as a “Time Cubicle”, which slows down your experience of Time significantly compared to us. That bought us some time for the seal to reactivate and seal you back in. She disappeared later, however. She called herself Time, Lytheria Time. She showed some form of interest on you, Innight, and wanted to help out in sealing your powers. She said something about herself desiring for you, no idea what that means but I hope this means we have ourselves an ally. She has the powers to control Time, from what she has been doing.” Nightius explained the situation to me.

“Also, take a look at yourself, Innight.” Master Inoxion said.

I raised my hands, and saw both still retained in the claws like formation, this can only mean the transformation did not come undone. I tried undoing the transformation through my own will. The claws begin to reform and turn back into human hands.

“I see… So I’m gaining control over this power of mine. This is good news. I would need this great power to fight off the invasion Light and the users of Old Magic brings in. I cannot afford to let myself loose and destroy my allies with my enemies.”

“Yes, this is good news. But the bad news is you destroyed one of the school buildings. We can repair this, but unless we can manipulate Time, we are unlikely to repair everything back to its original state before tomorrow.”

“Well, I can manipulate Time, but I’m unsure whether I am able to do it with the seals on now. After this activation I felt a gain of new power even with the seal still in place. Should I try it out?”

“We really have nothing to lose, do it, Innight.”

“Overclock, Rewind.”

I created a green field around the crater and mumbled these words. A whirring sound came from the field as the building rebuilds itself from the ground. The field disappeared once the building returned.

“That is useful. It looks like for every seal that is lifted, you get to use more of your original powers back.”

“This is far from enough. I still have a limit on the number and amount of magic that I can cast. I can only cast this magic associated to Time once a day or so as it consumes large amount of mana. These seals gives me a recharge timer and a limiter for any use of magic, which are a nuisance if we did get into a fight or even a war with other creatures.”

“Innight, Lord Inoxion, something to take note. Luthriel, Aquis, this matter concerns both of you as well. Apparently the waves of magic has caused some changes in the students within the school. It appears that the wave of magic has resulted in the normal humans obtaining special powers. They turned special beings now, and all of the student population within the school is affected. Lord Inoxion, we have to do something about the students here now. Innight, you need to help me observe them and try to keep their powers under control.”

“This should not be a problem, Nightius. I have relations to the headmaster of the school itself, and he should also be aware of the situation now as he is also someone of great power. We need to do a change in the entire teaching system of the school itself, Nightius, be prepared to teach them about the Elemental Realm and the world of magic.”

“Also, one more thing. Keep an eye out for the girl named Time. I suspect she has relations to the Time Progion itself. There are very little people that has power of Time itself, Chronos and you, Innight, are the only ones that I knew that are able to manipulate time to your own advantage, and you should know that I have knowledge over the entire Elemental Realm. She seems a little suspicious to me.”

Saying that, Master and Nightius both teleported away. Me, Aquis and Luthriel went back to the dormitory and we gathered in my and Luthriel’s room. When we reached the dormitory, it was in a mess, there were craters and holes in the walls and books all around, screams and shouts came from everywhere around, flashes of light bounced around the entire dormitory. It appears that everyone is testing out their newly founded powers on others, and some are already using it to fight others.

“I hope of all the powers here there isn’t one that is as powerful as yours, Innight.” Aquis said.

“Indeed. Not to mention it would be troublesome if they use it for misdeeds.” I replied.

When we entered our room, we found our room in such a state that I would describe as being trashed by a hurricane. I’m not surprised by the state even though our rooms are locked before we left, by chance there is definitely someone having the power to open the locks in the population, it is only a matter of time before our rooms are unlocked.

Also the boys who I defeated just yesterday would want revenge over what I did to them, it would be obvious that they would come by and trash our room completely. I, however, am surprised by the fact that our room is still in one piece.

As we cleared up the room, a girl came by. She has one red tinted eye visible, the other covered by her long black hair. I went on my job, but Aquis and Luthriel froze on the spot.

“What’s wrong, both of you?”

“She…She is the girl that we both were talking about, Innight!”

“What?!”

“They are right. Nice to meet you, Innight. My name is Lytheria Time, call me Time. I’m a new student in this school so I’m just wandering around. The entire place looks really lively to me. Is the evening always that lively?”

“Time, before I answer you anything, I want you to answer me one question.”

“Yes, and what could that be, Innight?”

“What are you exactly?”

“Ahhh. I’m unsure whether you know this, Innight, but magic has reaction to human, and the powers that they gain in response is in accordance to their state of mind. The weaker the state of mind the stronger the power they gain. I was one of the very first humans that was affected by the waves of magic during the Invasion Disaster.”

My mind was broken as my parents were killed as they are unable to handle the waves of magic, my friends all abandoned me as I was odd in their minds, and I was alone in the entire city that was destroyed with no one miles around. When my mind became stabilised, I discovered I have the ability to manipulate Time, I also gained the ability to controls shadows to my own will. So I will say, I’m human, but with the power of Time and Shadows.”

“Very well. I shall then answer your question. The dormitory is lively during the evening, but never as lively as you see it now. You should have noticed yourself, there has been a swept of wave of instable magic in this area hours ago and everyone in the school has gained new powers. Everyone is busy trying out their newly gained powers so it is of no surprise that it is so lively now. Let me give you warning, though, your powers are considered as highly dangerous, so don’t use them on anyone.”

“Of course, I myself am aware of that. However I cannot guarantee that when someone try to attack me, for example right now.”

A beam of yellow light flew by the room and shot right through Time. Blood begin flowing from her chest where the beam of light went through, she crumbled to the floor.

“Time!”

Both Aquis and Luthriel screamed. However, the smile on Time’s face never fade from the moment she told us the attack was incoming up to now. I still ponder the reason why when suddenly a shadow appeared under Time’s body and the body sunk into it.

“Well, well, well. I knew such things will happen. Hello again, everyone.”

Aquis and Luthriel both gasped. Suddenly Time’s head popped out of the wall of the room from a shadow, she then stepped out of it.

“What…but…you just…”

Both of them were at loss of words.

“Hee hee hee. That was only a copy of mine. I did mention that I can manipulate Time didn’t I? That was a clone of mine from a different time axis. I already suspect an attack will eventually find its’ way into the room so I used a clone in my place instead.”

“So, Time, and I hope I am talking to the real Time, what is your intention to be here?”

“As I have previously mentioned, I’m here just for a walk.”

“I doubt so. You took measures to track down my identity and even attempt to help us out. You must have something else in your mind.”

“So you guessed it. As I have previously mentioned, I live a life of loneliness, even now, as this power caused me to be distanced by others, and there are others who tried to hurt me because of this power, despite me not using it at all. They appeared to gather information about me when I was bullied by others, when I’m forced to use my powers.”

“Now I’ve finally found someone who suffered from the same fate. He also holds a much greater power compared to me. I want company of such a person, who understands me. And that person, is you, Innight.”

“Time, you are telling only part of the truth, I can tell. You have the energy signature of Old Magic of The Void. What is your relationship with them?”

“I really can’t hide anything from you, Zealus, isn’t it?”

“Zealus?” We all three mumbled.

“That is your real name, Innight, your true form that is sealed within this human vessel.”
