Prologue

Prologue

There are many worlds. Rhothon, being one of the only worlds without portals leading to it, was arguably the worst in the known universe. Plagued by slavery, capitalism, and corruption, The government officials were caught up in the past, mining oil and gems that once made them their riches, but now are worth less than the dirt they are under. Living in their own segregated world, the officials had very little connection to any other worlds, systems, or people, and the people lucky enough to be able to leave that god-forsaken planet did without hesitation and didn’t look back. The world of Rhothon lived with it’s own economy, and it's own systems for everything. Moras, used for buying and selling oil,  food, as well as rights to live, eat, and breathe if you need to. Lilith was fortunate enough to not have to pay for anything. At least, that’s how she looked at it. She was owned by High Duke Patrick. A slave, from her parents' debt. She had been owned since birth and would be owned until her unfortunate death. At least, that was the plan that was set for her.

High Duke Patrick was a very strict person. Owning a fortune’s worth of slaves makes you a strict person, as it was in people's nature to mess around and cross boundaries. High Duke Patrick was known for his hanging of disobedient slaves. He had work that needed to be done. Oil that he needed out of the ground, and gems that needed to be found. Disobedient and foolish slaves weren’t going to get any of that done. Any time he would see a slave not working, or fooling around in some manner, he would call an assembly, where he would gather everybody up, and murder the slave that wasn’t working their hardest. Children would watch and scream. Elders would occupy themselves, for they’ve been through this too many times to count. While High Duke Patrick was strict and ruthless, there was one, if only one, soft spot he had. And that one place in his small heart belonged to Lilith. Lilith was pretty, there was no way around that fact. But the obsession that the High Duke had for her was no short of insane. Lilith was somewhat pampered, never truly had to work a single day, and at times she was even treated as if she wasn’t a slave. The others around her, forced to work every second of their lives ended up seeing her poorly, and separating themselves from her. While Lilith got all the attention from the High Duke, she didn’t get any attention or notice from the people around her. She learned to live with this sad reality, and she would often dream of being able to pick a side, to be able to live without shackles, or to be able to live among those around her without being patronized. That was the world that Lilith was forced into, divided between 2 peoples, and stuck in a limbo of loneliness.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

That loneliness, however, was not to be the entirety of Lilith’s tale. For the story of Lilith River, High Duke Patrick, and those involved was about to take a turn. A turn that would not only impact the lives of those involved, but also the lives of many across multiple galaxies, possibly even most of the known universe. But of course, Lilith didn’t know that, for she was made to live as a slave until she died. And why would that ever change? What could possibly happen to her that would change anything about her situation, when generations of slaves have lived under High Duke Patrick, and none have ever taken a step as a free soul?

And that, my lovely audience, is where our story will truly start.
