Chapter 8

Bo Qing seemed composed, but was internally shocked. Those swords should have killed the Knight, how was he still moving? And why did he retreat, if he truly was unharmed, he could have easily won the fight.

Filled with confusion, he left the arena and received the prize money, as well as a large amount of materials. He immediately exchanged a large portion of these for a rank two storage bag. These looked like ordinary bags, but due to the remnants imbued on it, the space inside was warped, having a much larger capacity than any ordinary bag. Furthermore, it could store anything that did not surpass rank two.

He sighed in relief, now his swords, materials and money could all be stored inside, he could carry much more things with him. But this method had its disadvantages: if the bag got stolen, he would lose everything!

His swords were only slightly damaged, there was no need to repair them right now, it would be a waste of money.

The only thing urgently in need of repair was his body. He dragged himself to the medicine hall and collapsed on a bed. After receiving treatment and resting for half a day, he was more or less ready to go.

The match between the other two masters had also finished, the winner was Lu Shu. As Bo Qing looked at the result, he felt a slight feeling inside his heart at the name Lü He. This name meant something to him in his past life, but he wasn't sure what. "Guess I'll find out when I see him."

He once again walked through the corridor leading to the arena. The voice of the commentator reached his ears: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the finals of the master tournament! The battle between sword and shield, who shall emerge victorious, who shall crumble into dust? On the left, we have the shield, Forest Guardian Lü He! Standing opposite is the sword, River Lord! This will be a battle of the centuries!"

Lü He shouted with an amicable smile: "River Lord, it is an honor to spar with you, let's have a pleasant match!"

Bo Qing looked at his opponent. A tall, handsome man clad in silver armor decorated with red and green ornaments. He carried only a huge shield with him. This Lü He felt quite familiar, the way he carried himself, how he spoke, it all triggered certain emotions within him. He muttered to himself: "Could he be? No. I mustn't get ahead of myself." It was too early to draw conclusions, vague memories and emotions couldn't be relied upon.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

At the starting signal, he immediately rushed forward with both swords in hand. Maybe fighting with this Lü He could reveal some memories. Lü He held a giant silver shield, with jade patterns in the shape of roses and thorns. Sword met shield, both did not relent.

This stalemate continued for some time, Bo Qing would strike but Lü He always met his attack, not showing any weaknesses. Everytime he hit the shield, it would absorb the impact and return it in the form of green thorns, forcing Bo Qing to dodge and thus not able to generate momentum.

Most annoyingly of all, Lü He wouldn't stop talking to him: "What a beautiful sword, almost as pretty as my shield." "Woah, that almost hit me!" "Hahaha, is this all the mighty River Lord has to offer, I could do this all day!"

He took pride in his ability to keep himself in check, but this man managed to evoke some strong emotions within him. Finally, he couldn't stand it and summoned flowing river's current.

A strange glint flashed through Lü He's eyes, but quickly disappeared. He tried to block, but he was caught off guard and deep lake sword managed to make a wound on his leg.

"I must admit, that surprised me, even if I already knew about that sword of yours. Sigh, I can only blame myself. You managed to wound me, so in order to show respect, I shall use my full strength!" Lü He smiled, and a rose began rapidly growing out of his wound. It quickly reached maturity, and then wilted. The remains of the flower got absorbed by Lü He's skin, and the wound began visibly closing.

Lü He didn't sit still while this happened, while previously only defending, he now took the initiative and started charging with his shield in front of him. Bo Qing immediately used deep lake sword to slow down the charge, and managed to dodge the side. Lü He turned around and swung his shield at Bo Qing, forcing him to once again avoid the attack.

This continued on for awhile. Bo Qing tried to counterattack, but the shield was simply too big, being able to both attack and defend even while slowed down. Even the accosional cut was taken care of by the roses blooming on any wound larger than a scratch.

Bo Qing was starting to become tired, while Lü He showed no signs of fatigue. He knew he couldn't win a battle of attrition, so he had to deal a decisive blow. He already had a plan in mind, all he had to do was wait for an opportunity.

And that opportunity arrived in the form of a small flaw by Lü He, a tiny hole in his seemingly impregnable bulwark. Bo Qing immediately dispelled flowing river's current and instead let it circle around flowing river sword. At this moment, nothing protected his body, meaning a single blow would knock him out or perhaps even kill him. But the sword, enhanced with the current, managed to pierce through and inflicted a severe wound on Lü He's chest.

Lü He stumbled backwards and spat out blood. Three roses began blooming on his chest, trying to fix the damage. He looked at Bo Qing and laughed, before turning around: "I have lost this match!" He then faced Bo Qing: "Let's have a chat after this, I'll be waiting for you."

Bo Qing, surrounded by cheers, could only look at the figure slowly disappearing within the tunnel, leaving only a blood red trail behind.
