Chapter 02 [arc two]
The healing bed's lid slid open, and the water began to drain out beneath Karilyn's body. She didn't know what to do as the man came into view. He reached down and took off the mask that was providing her oxygen and set it to the side. Cautiously, the twenty-two-year-old sat up and looked around the room. The stranger was gone, having left to go buy things for their dinner. This left the two of them alone in what looked to be an office. The healing bed was put next to a wall and was obscured from the window's reach. No one could see her unless they walked in to look. She grabbed at the side of the healing bed to pull herself into a sitting position. Karilyn gave the man a glance hesitantly, feeling nauseated.
"You're working with the ogre king." Aren't you?" The redhead had a hollow feeling in her chest as she spoke. She didn't know whether to feel betrayed or like an idiot for having trusted him.
Reluctantly, the man nodded. He looked like he knew this was coming. "It's more than a working relationship." "I didn't feel it was really important to say anything, as your life was in jeopardy."
"I understand," she muttered, but still her skin was crawling. This man who saved her was going to serve her corpse on a silver platter. "What is your relationship with him, then?" "Are you friends?"
"I'm sorry," He apologized as he helped her get out of the healing bed. Her feet touched the floor, having been put back together by the water. "But I'm not his friend." "We are the same person."
The twenty-two-year-old mouthed what he said wordlessly. They stared at one another, the world becoming strange and silent all of a sudden. It wasn't that her legs gave out from being broken still, but because of the shock that engulfed her body. She fell to the ground, feeling the earth slip from under her. The ground felt warm, and her legs were wet as she grabbed at her chest. She touched her heart and closed her eyes. Tightly, she clamped them shut and tried to disappear. A fear filled her knowing that someone so brutal, so monstrous, stood above her. and that he had been the one to save her from dying in complete isolation. Her head was throbbing as she realized he was talking.
"I didn't know that they chose a slave to be my sacrifice." "The fact that it was you, a teenager who was so innocent, surprised me." His voice was warping into a tone that wasn't human. It was hard for her to understand the syllables anymore with how distorted each word had become.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
He reached down to touch her. She flinched back when she felt his hand. It was shaped in a way that should be impossible. "Stop crying for a minute and let me speak." I'm not going to eat you anymore. It's pointless to do so when you've already exceeded the ritual's deadline.
"What?" Karilyn didn't know the ritual worked like that. The unnamed girl was going to be eaten either way by the demons in the game. So knowing that it wasn't the case anymore was puzzling.
She could feel his eyes on her, burning into her soul, despite her eyes being closed. "I follow a strict schedule, and you've disrupted it." "It wouldn't make sense for you to be my meal, considering everything going on." He spoke about the subject as if the answer was obvious.
Karilyn burned her face in her hands as he got closer. Somehow, he was outside the room and at her side all at once. He was everywhere. "What are you going to do with me?" "Are you going to sell me off at some slave auction?" She whimpered.
The twenty-two-year-old couldn't believe the situation she was in. Kaname's torturing her and breaking her legs had saved her. The ogre king had no interest in eating an infected, pus-ridden slave girl. In the visual novel, they gave sacrifices a full face of makeup and wore beautiful gowns. They looked their best and wore outfits they could have never afforded while being dragged to hell. And she had stupidly jumped into damnation with him. All traces of the drugs were gone, and her mind was perfectly clear. All the happy, bubbly emotions she had felt were dead in the water. She didn't know how to accept that this was real. Despite being saved, her life was about to be lost once more. She was still on the verge of being killed by the man.
"There would be no point in me selling you back to slave traders." I still want to be given what I’m owed by your master. Especially since he nearly killed MY sacrificial maiden because of his temper." The ogre king whispered in her ear his grievances while remaining completely calm.
Karilyn squirmed back in disgust and shuddered. "Then, what are you going to do with me?" All she wanted was for him to spare her life. And then she would focus on finding a way to freedom.
"I want you to stay, but you don't have a choice as you're a slave without a master." making you automatically mine "What I will give you a choice on is whether or not you stay willingly." The man's words left her conflicted. With a puzzled look, she moved her hands off of her face.
The two faced one another as the man towered over her fetal position. The first thing she noticed was what he was wearing. It was the outfit of the ogre king from the game. The cloak made of shadows that the main character swore had a mind of its own His business suit had burn marks from a cigarette near the collar. And the mask he wore that covered his face, which she now knew was heavily scarred from burns and cuts With him dressed up, it was obvious that he was the villain. She scolded herself for not realizing earlier. If she had, she could have prepared herself for this. Now, she was shaking in a corner, lost and confused.
