Chapter 2: Rebirth

POTF Chapter 2: Rebirth

The sound of the rain at night, accompanied with the cries of a woman who was about to give birth, was the cause behind the strange atmosphere that enveloped the Yang Clan manor.

Chi Ray, the wife of Yang Ma, the lord of the grand Yang Clan, appeared nothing like the renowned beauty and influential figure of Cloud City that she truly was. However, it is not like her husband, the Clan's lord, was any better. His face was etched with worry as he awaited the arrival of their first child, the sole heir to the Clan, and the future legacy of their Lineage that was yet to be born.

The manor was bustling with midwives, who were there to assist Chi Ray in childbirth. Their hearts were burdened as they gave it their all, fearing retribution from the lord. If anything happened to his wife, then the heads of all the midwives here would get cut by the guillotine, but that wasn't what they truly feared. If any harm comes to even a single hair of their future young master, then their heads won't fall alone as the heads of their entire families will accompany them.

Hour after hour passed, and the air became laden with worry as everyone within the manor harbored their own concerns. Some feared for their lives, and others for the fate of their descendants.

Finally, as dawn broke after a seemingly endless day, the young lord-to-be made his entrance into this new uncharted world. After ensuring his health, the midwives then turned their attention to his mother, Chi Ray. They breathed a collective sigh of relief at her well-being, knowing their lives had been spared another day.

Hearing the news of his wife's successful delivery, Yang Ma hurried into the room, eager to be the first to hold his newborn child. As Yang Ma looked at his son, he smiled with happiness, knowing that he had done his duty and that his family Bloodline would not come to an end under his hands. He knew that he would not disappoint the ancestors of the Yang Clan.

The child had captivating black eyes akin to twinkling stars, and his jet-black hair flowed like silk. Even his eyebrows bore a resemblance to a sharp sword as if foreshadowing his destined path as a swordsman.

Yang Ma held the baby high and declared with pride, "From this moment on, this child shall be called Yang Ao and shall assume the position of the young master of this family. He shall shine like a star and ascend to take his place at the peak of the cultivation world."

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Unbeknownst to those around, the child named Yang Ao was no ordinary infant but the reincarnation of Aiden, who found himself in this baby's body without any recollection of the event. Yet, Aiden had little time to ponder over his past experiences, which were filled with both misfortune and rare encounters.

Aiden wasn't sure if it was luck or fate that played with him. It took him from the peak to the bottom once too many times. The experiences he had just the day before would be sufficient for a lifetime for any man. He met that mysterious man, and then he was given a system.

Curiosity piqued at Aiden as he decided to explore the mysterious 'system' that the entity told him about. Aiden put his experience of being a good-for-nothing to use as he said the magical words to summon the system: "SYSTEM STATS PANEL."

A welcoming message appeared before Aiden:

[Welcome, host Yang Ao of the Nyx system. I will assist you on your journey to the top of this world, so make sure to follow my instructions, or else there will be penalties.]

[Host Stats are as follows:]

[Strength: 0.1]

[Intelligence: 0.8]

[Agility: 0.1]

[Cultivation: Non existent]

Once he saw the cultivation icon, excitement began to fill Yang Ao's heart as he finally possessed the ability to shine and rise above the masses, "I have become like all the Main characters I always read about." He thought to himself that in this life, he would actually do the work needed to achieve the peak of this world and not laze around like his first life.

Inexplicably, tears welled up in Yang Ao's eyes, and he found himself crying. Confused by his own body, he wondered why he was shedding tears. The Manor Lord smiled knowingly and passed the baby back to Chi Ray for nursing. Yang Ao, realizing his current state as a child, made a silent vow to grow quickly and break free from this helpless situation. After all, he had vowed to reach the peak. Shortly after he made that vow, Yang Ao slept the sleep of a child.

As the days passed, Yang Ao couldn't walk yet, but he learned to observe and understand his surroundings. People around him assumed he was just an ignorant child, oblivious to the conversations around him. However, he chose to remember the information he heard for now as he called for the system again.

Upon opening the system this time, he noticed a new tab labeled 'missions,' which he immediately clicked on. Upon viewing the available missions, he realized that there was only one mission listed in the tab.

[Title: Grow enough to have the ability to walk]

[Description: Having the ability to walk is a critical step for your development. A man who cannot walk is not a man. So, do you want to stay as a little crybaby forever?]

[Progress: 0.266]

Angered by being described as a crybaby but accepting the reality of his current state, Yang Ao vowed to progress swiftly and stand on his own feet. Day by day, he absorbed knowledge, growing both physically and mentally, inching closer to the moment when he could fulfill his destiny.

After he looked at his Stats Window, Yang Ao recalled the information he heard before. Among the important details he overheard was that the cloud city he lived in existed within the confines of the Hua Kingdom. Additionally, he discovered that his family was one of the four prominent families in the city, referred to as the Four Beasts.

Which were:

- The Chi Family – White Tiger

- The Qi Family – Black Tortoise

- The Wa Family – Phoenix

- The Yang Family – Dragon, whose emblem every child in the family followed.
