Well, my negotiation failed... I thought it was a fine plan, if I knew about his brother living where-ever the town over, I would've never said anything. If I say that we came from another world would make matters worse.
“Lily what should we do?” she replied with “your fault and I can't help you, you should have told the truth in the first place”.
That cold stare of hers is going to kill me one day.
The jail cell looks to be made of wood... just wood... but if we escape there's like a lot of people that are twice our size. So, my plan is to wait until nightfall and run for our lives.
I was scared as crap but it had to be done or we were to be hanged in front the whole town. The only problem is that we are being monitored 24/7 by guards.
I made small talk with them to pass time, they are actually friendly, not going to lie they have a very scary face. That dude we met earlier seemed to be the only exception.
It was nightfall, the guards were still there but they were asleep. “Psst” whispering to Lily trying to wake her up from her sleep. As always, she watched me with cold eyes and understood the situation by looking at my expression on my face. At least I thought so.
The sand was so dry just like the taste of clothing in this town it hurts. We cautiously searched around this tiny confinement which they call a jail cell made out of wood to find a way out. Then we saw a piece of wood broken and a hole big enough to fit me and Lily if we tried.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
We tried crawling through a crack between the wooden jail (I swear they were not thinking straight in making this prison).
As we ran further, we were met with a ravine.
typical western vibes this place is giving me.
Then we got cornered by the only non-scary looking guy there.
“Well, I forgot to introduce myself trespassers last time since you lied to poor me but I am, Izumi Yumasa”.
“W-we had a good reason you know; we came from another world and uhm I don't think you would believe it so we lied for the sake of keeping it real” I murmured.
“Oh, an outworlder, you could have just said that. It is common to hear about those things but it's rare for one to end up here.” he laughed with a bit of worried on his face,
“And here was I trembling thinking you were some killers from the capital”.
I pretended to laugh to not ruin his mood because we can get beaten up any moment. Lily looked like this was what I suppose to say from the beginning.
Like the hell I suppose to know that? I'm not some magic fairy that can read minds.
With my whole-body shaking I still mustered enough courage to ask, “Are we still going to get executed?" Izumi laughed, “that was a joke, well it was half true, I was going to kill you myself. Have you seen our prison? The rope would burst before we could hang you". I see... not a very good joke when you look all so serious...
“Okay, okay for ill-treating you both, you can stay here until you figure out where you are heading.” Izumi, that was still laughing for some reason, told us. “So, what's your name?” he asked, “R-ren Sutaraito, sir...”. He laughed it off as if he was hiding something. “Nice to meet you, Ren and your partner, I hope you enjoy your stay here".
Lily just huffed at me and walked off; I mean it was my fault so it was okay to get angry. I would have as well, knowing that our lives were on the line.
