The Celestial Realm

******

A massive amphitheater resting on a cloud within the heavens is packed with gods and goddesses. Loud booming voices echo all around. Almost as if it's a high school, cliques appear with the gods sorting themselves by the pantheons of different religions they belong to. Greek, Norse, Slavic, Shinto , Taoist, Hindu, Buddhist, and others chatting away waiting for something to happen.

BANG. A loud crashing sound silences the crowd.

A light appears the stage of the celestial theater.

" Hello all, welcome to the congregation of all heavens. I'm here to talk about the incessant bitching going on. Now I normally don't really give two shits about your guy's complaining, but I'm tired of all this whining, fighting and moping. 'Oh I'm bored. What's there to do. Waah waah.' You guys lost your right to rule over the mortals. Atheism is on such a incline that in a couple hundred years your influence on them may be reduced to less than myth. The mortals no longer need you. They threw away their chance magic in selfishness, hunted almost all the divine beasts to extinction in greed, cleared out many of the other hidden races in fear and as previously mentioned are throwing away religion. This was done under various pantheons purview. You failed to lead them properly and now you can't accept the outcome? My children what would you have me do? Forsake my mortal children and my entertainment for your whims? Humans on are spontaneous and creative. They're malleable and brimming in life. Have u seen their technology grow immensely in these couple hundred years. I mean it is astonishing. I enjoy watching them grow and change frequently, unlike you lot. They attempt to make the most of their lives and that's exciting to me. I gave you lot the right to rule. I gave you guys the power to influence and guide them and in return you gained strength from their devotion. Look what happened! Wars, debauchery, classism, racism, hate. Yes, yes, I know that they all hold that within them, but you were to guide them. To bring out the good in all of them. Yet for selfish purposes you broke their trust and used them. Now they don't need you and you whine because if it. It was your fault. Almighty gods? More the the almighty babies. You guys still have your personal realms and the souls of the dead to influence before they reincarnate. Be happy you have at least this. Everything that you have been given in the prime realm of earth is a privilege, not a right. Now is there anything else. Creation is my right and my entertainment. Do not delude yourself into thinking you have any control."

A man bathed in a white glow stood up and decided to speak back to the radiant light force.

" But O’ embodiment of creation you're the one who locked away magic, transferred the mythical to a secluded realm, and reduced our ability to influence the living."

The hints of red light appeared within the luminous embodiment.

"Jehovah shut your mouth, you held the mortal worlds influence in an iron grip for more than a thousand years and yet you led them to commit genocide, discrimination and just plain zealotry. Now that your grip is loosening you come and insubordinately comment on my choices? I did what I did to protect the mythical races and mortals alike from your choices."

"However you decided to scale our influence back. Furthermore you..."

Jehovah fell quiet as red specks grew into clump within the luminous mass.

" This was even between your own followers. You have 3 religions that consistently fight amongst each other. What right do you have to speak back?"

Jehovah glow retreated as he meekly returned to his seat among his prophets and angels.

Quetzalcoatl, a tall bearded man, rose to offer his piece.

" What has changed in the mortals to make them reject out influence so vehemently. They have not grown stronger in body as they have lost the gift of magic and the average person seems to be in terrible shape regardless of their medical prowess. Why do they not need our divine influence no longer?"

Quickly the gods clamoured together and no one could think of why they have been rejected as of late.

Were the humans content? Their greed and fight for self preservation is embedded in their very makeup, it could not be this.

Was it their knowledge? Again, they deemed it impossible because they did not know a hundredth of the gods knowledge of the universe and only a spec of what the embodiments hold.

This is the one thing the gods could not figure out for the last 20 years.

The light flashed intensely as everyone in the stands as everyone again sat silent and listened to creation.

" you fools together hold boundless knowledge of the universe and its laws, yet you fools do not have the wisdom to see what it is that makes the mortals so. It is their weakness that propels them forward. They live such short lives and begin so weak they can only strengthen themselves to the point where they can believe and trust in only themselves, their beliefs, and their loved ones."

The gods stood silent. Weakness was strength? How could beings born into immense power comprehend this concept.

" When is the last time any of you thought to grow stronger as an individual? To overcome the things you lack? Hmm? No one? The last one here was the monkey Sun Wukong and even he has grown content when he had elevated from magical beast to a deity."

While the monkey can only nod and laugh at his own folly and the folly of his peers.

Odin, an even older looking man with a leather wizards cap and a staff, rose out of his seat.

"Hohoho, but then what would you have us do creation? We grow restless. All the power and time yet no where to channel it. We are only left here in the heavens to vent"

The starlike being known as creation took this comment seriously and pondered.

" Hmm... You have a point. I may have been hasty. Even I, creation itself, am not omnipotent. Only when the others and I come together have that power. I can only glimpse into the possible futures not control it. However what shall you have me do? What done is done and shall not be reversed for that will only wreak havoc among the mortals."

Creation began to ponder "Let me think on that. You have lost your chance to truly rule on earth. That chance is no longer. There must be something else I can come up with"

One of the few lone figures in the back of the stands started laughing.

Creation shone his light on the dark figure who was seated with a puppy resting to his side and questioned " Loki why are you laughing. Your peers are in conflict yet you laugh at them?"

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"Nah, its not like that. I'm just laughing at the lack of common sense they all have! What do the mortals do when they are bored huh? The rest of you so called gods are dumb as hell. Sorry Hades and the rest of you netherworld gods that was insensitive of me. Ahem, Mortals have sports and whatever else they can think of next. The universe is creation and its siblings playground. Why don't we just make a game for us gods. Put a little risk into it as well. Our influence? A prime power? Our realm in heaven? Why don't we put ourselves on the line to make it interesting. Wealth, strength, and influence is what we risk to lose and gain, but entertainment and excitement is what we will all get. Let's spin a wheel of fate we the gods cannot control.

The amphitheatre blasted in noise as excitement was seen all around. Creation himself shines bright at the thought.

"Loki that's smart. I like it. How about this, we will use a new magical realm as the playing ground. I will alter it to fit what I seem to be fair and speed up the development a bit. you will all set up your temples in after I consider the realm ready.

After you all have 100 years of earthen time to recruit the souls of your champions to play in this game. Convince them to join your cause. Blackmail and forced servitude are restricted. If these methods are chosen, you forfeit the chance at the prize.. You must convince them to join your cause. The champions must be earthen mortals in their last life. Yes that means the ones that did great things who are currently living in bliss in heaven are just that much harder to convince.

The amount of champions you will gain will be equivalent to the amount you risk. At least one of the things you risk must be something of substance to put into the world for champions to find. Your bids may be picked up against enemy and rival champions to use.

When we begin champions will be reincarnated as humanoids. Beastmen, humans, elves, dwarves, devilspawn, nephilim, dragonspawn, and other appropriate races will be chosen at random. They will be born in random order. They will be marked in your symbol and that is the only clue you will leave with them unless they find your temple.Yes, that means no contact.

Also the religious hierarchy is broken. This is a free for all. There will be no reprimand for scheming against your own pantheon. The prize is awardable to only one of you. No altercations between any of you may happen during the game. The heavens is a safe zone from now till games end. And no pantheons will reform at the end. You guys are now all independent.

The world will 3 times the size of earth with a new system of mortal magic. I speed the time of this world by 10000 years after setting it up. Then we will begin.

The game will be rated on the system of influence points. The more a champion influences the world by games end the most point they will receive. So if an early champion united the world in one empire and that empire lasts the entire game period they will garner massive points. On the other hand if one of the dies young and stupid due to their own actions they will garner a minuscule amount of points. The most collective points wins.

Before any of you say anything, yes your champions are guaranteed to live to 13 as I will ward them.

Does this this please you all?"

"What's the prize?" Was shouted by many

"Well it's..........."

One Week Later

******

The majority of gods have given their buy in to the game. Usually giving a mix of 2-3 powers or legendary artifacts to receive on average 25-35 champions.

"I, Susanoo, bid my power of the storms,my sword of hydra slaying and a magical chestpiece made of hydra skin."

"I would say that it's worth about 31 champions."

"Thank you creation."

Creation points its light to Loki

"Loki your last, come forward and pass me you buy in."

Loki rushes up to the stage

" I would like to make a special deal! I feel like I deserve this for jump starting the idea.of the game. Is that not fair creation"

Creation stops and takes a second to think.

"What kind of deal do you have in mind Loki?"

"I will risk my divinity itself in this game."

The crowd was shocked. No one was willing to lose everything in this game. Their pride would not allow them to become mortal.

"In return I want my champions to be born will full knowledge of their past lives among other benefits. However you can give me 30% of the souls I am to be awarded.

The gods emotional shock grew even greater. None of them thought of negotiating for anything better than was stated. This was a gift from creation. How could they?

Creation chuckles, as it is pleased by this turn of events.

"How about we up the risk some more since you seem to be in a gambling mood.

Yes, the champion can retain their past memories and they will be granted unique abilities according to their personality. I can even let them pick five of your possessions when you have three days to talk before reincarnation."

Only silence was heard as a majority of the other gods writhed in agony over the jealousy they felt. A select few however smirk or giggles to themselves after hearing of the deal.

"During this time you cannot influence their choice of items from your vault. You may give them a brief summary of our game and answer any questions they might have. You cannot tell them what you have risked. However they can only be on their first reincarnation cycle. In addition the prior memories will only awaken at the age of 2. Also the mark of Loki will be hidden to all but those under your influence to prevent other gods targeting you because of your advantage. This is the only deal I'm willing to give you. Do you accept the terms?"

Loki could only smile as it seemed too good to be true. He risked everything and it seems like he got more than he could ask for in return. The deal was honey to his ears and the only negative was fresh souls? That was more interesting than negative to him. A bunch of infant souls in super powered bodies, how entertaining was that. Loki can only grin I'm delight and rushes to accept it.

"Sounds good to me. I accept. So how many champions do I receive?"

Creation beings to laugh.

"Didn't you hear me in the beginning? I said champion not champions. You get one."

Loki becomes ashen white when he realizes what he has agreed to.

"Fuck me, I'm the biggest idiot here aren't I."

Going forward I just want to let you guys know that I'll be talking in 3rd person Omni for gods and 1st person POV for the protagonist. So don't get confused by the style change.

This is a rough draft.

Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion.

BUT

I do request for real review if you are going to leave one. Fake 5/5's with one line reviews I don't bother with or care for! I want to make the store better, not be contempt with what I'm putting out now.
