Expanding, growing, shifting.
Layers of material make up the City, a sprawling megacity that spans several solar systems. It grows ever-outwards, expanding into the endless oblivion, trapping its inhabitants inside, and safeguarding them against the threats of the inky void they live in. But this story isn’t about what monsters live beyond the walls of the City, but rather the ones within.
You see, here within the walls live the true terrors.
Light speed travel -previously thought to be nothing more than a pipedream- has enabled the citizens of the city to cross biblical distances in the blink of an eye. But the technology is reserved for those with the means to afford it. In reality, the poor of the City rarely leave their own Sector, or if they do, they don’t tend to return.

Technology exists to cure nearly every known disease, to enhance the body to a superhuman degree, and to create paradise - but only those at the very top have access to it.
The elite of the City call themselves The Council, a circle of tyrants that use their power to turn the population of the City into their own private servants, army, and even products. Their thirst for power seems unabated, with the resources on the outermost edges of the City being completely depleted, they continue even still to consume.
The poor of the City toil away day in and day out, in the hopes that one day they might make it to the top. But the odds are against them. The Council breeds fear and hate to keep the populace in line, and those that dare to oppose them are met with brutal force.
But there is hope.
A resistance is growing, one that is fighting back against the Council’s oppressive regime. They are a force to be reckoned with, and they will stop at nothing to see the Council brought down.
This is their story.
