After checking in to their hotel Evelyn and shell wander around town. Looking for a chapel looking around they noticed that there aren't as many people in such a big town as there should be. While wondering Evelyn decides they should stop at a butcher selling meat skewers for their afternoon meal upon ordering said meat skewickers from the butcher he happens to notice that shell is a drakian. Realizing this, he offers to sell them bones that still have the marrow in it that he cook over a fire for them. Evelyn, of course not knowing about why he would offer such a thing to shell attempted to refuse, but shell of course kindly accepts with more enthusiasm than she's ever seen him have since the two of them had started traveling together while walking around. Looking for the chapel shellwood casually chew on roasted bones omitting a casual crunching sound as they walk. Eventually they hit the Eastern district of the city where they can finally see the church a stone bill to structure with stained glass windows and multiple entrances / exits.
Enjoying the church. They are met with a nun
Sister: welcome to The holy Church of paladins.
The nun looks over to Shell. Curious about his presence.
Sister: that's a drakian doing in a church?
Shell: I asked myself that same question the moment we walked in.
Evelyn pulled out her paladin's paperwork.
Evelyn: we're here to check in according to the guards at the front. This is the HQ for paladins in the city.
Taking the paperwork the none leads them over to another area of the church with a desk. She starts looking over Evelyn's paperwork and pulls out a form for registry verifying Evelyn's presence in this town. How she fills out the paperwork Shell disappears yet again this time leaving a note.
Reading shells known. Evelyn verifies that he'd rather die than sit around in a church all day. Call him if she needs him. Knowing this. She figured it would be easy to get a hold of him if she needs him looking at her iron bracelet that's used to bind her to the collar around his neck. She figured if worst comes to worst she could just yank at the chain and it would drag him to her.
Sister: glad you checked in. I actually was in strong need of a paladin right now. The only one that we have in town that isn't hanging out on the border is a way on business and recently we're getting reports that people that should have came to town are not coming to town. And also we're getting reports of a strange man hanging out on a route near the town. Of course no one seems to be giving exact information and there are other concerning details to be had.
Evelyn nods to the nuns series of statements while looking down at last who while present was not listening or paying attention instead what was looking out a stained glass window over to the right. Looking at the very same stain glass window, it's rather hard to tell what it is from one angle. It looks like it's a man stabbing another man, but on a different angle it might be two fishes and bracing quite the art piece.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
Sister: I need you to head back out and look into this matter for me. It shouldn't take too long. I'm sure by the time you figure it out you'll be back in town and we can put this all to rest.
I'm on hands back. Evelyn 's. Registry papers as well as a wooden tag verifying she's on a job for the church. Unable to determine that she had taken the job. She unconsciously claimed the tag along with her paladin registry. Technically speaking, he can't take certain jobs without her deployment training and since she and shell only just became partners, she hasn't received her training yet which is why she's heading to the Royal Capitol, meaning the fact the only place with the proper facilities to do her deployment training that's currently fully operational right now.
Evelyn: I can't really be deployed. I haven't received formal training yet.
Sister: I'm well aware since you're traveling through here. Heading straight towards the capital. It's pretty obvious you're trying to get your training out of the way. But lucky for you, I'm qualified. She give this job to you as a credit towards your provisional training. So good luck!.
Ben unclaps your hands together and shoves Evelyn out the side door and close the church's doors behind her.
Watering the city with the job tag and an admission statement in hand. She wonders can she handle this job? Currently she's underqualified and while she has a sneaking suspicion of individual she's supposed to be investigating. She doesn't really feel obligated to do the job, especially considering the man seemed More or less harmless despite the warnings from both last and Shell earlier returning to the hotel room. She decides to rest for the day and head back out tomorrow. Holding that show would be back by then The next morning the current trio head towards the exiting gate shell chewing away on some leftover roasted bones. Evelyn, feeling a slight migraine from the stress of a job she's not prepared for and last just seems to be going with a flow as they cross the border back into the route from when they originated from. They sat out to find the guy from before. Evelyn, she traveled her feet aching and the air dry. Luckily for her she could leave her baggage back at the hotel room. Since this is a round trip having the bare minimum, they move quite fast with shell, clearly not bothered by the previous nor the current Pace which does start to text Evelyn.
Reaching the point where they had an interaction with the man in question. I could see no one around but footprints heading off towards more mountain-like areas and the distance feeling obligated to follow through. Evelyn proceeds to follow the footprints.
