Something Familiar

‘What the?’ I woke up with my body aching everywhere and in an unfamiliar place. The sunlight from the window beside the bed was hitting my eyes so I wasn't able to properly take a look around until I got up and noticed that it was a girl’s room. An organized room is what is normally expected of a girl but what’s in front of my eyes is completely the opposite. Underwear and clothes were lying on the floor. Used cups and plates were on the table at the end of the bed. I don’t really know what to feel right now. Should I be happy since there’s a chance I got some action last night? But why can’t I remember anything? Was it that good?. I moved to sit at the side of the bed thinking I've got to see this girl that caused me to lose my mind last night.

‘Aahh she must be such a beauty for me to be like this.’

‘Aahh what a man I am.’ I basically spent about 30 minutes making narcissistic comments about myself. I snapped back to reality and went to the door to meet this one hell of a lady only to be met with such an appetizing smell. My stomach then started to grumble wanting to be filled with delicious meals.

I slowly opened the door and went out. I was on the second floor of an old wooden house and probably a little far from the center of the city. I couldn’t hear any carriages so the highway isn’t near either but something like a bustling market is just a block away. I reached for the railings but pulled my hands back since it seemed like it’ll drown from all the accumulated dust. I went down the stairs leading to the living room. I hear rustling across the room where a curtain separates it from another room, it’s where the delicious smell seems to come from. I pushed the curtain to the side with the back of my hand and excitement filled my body.

‘I thank the Gods for such grace that you guys have bestowed upon me’, that’s how beautiful the lady before me is. She made me thank beings I don’t even believe in.

‘I might have used my lifetime supply of luck’

’How’d the hell did I even manage to pull this off?’

‘Did I sell my soul last night? Do I even have one?’These thoughts went over my head faster than a blink of an eye. I opened my mouth to try and say hello but-

“Good Morning! How’s your body?” she cheerfully exclaimed

‘Aaahhh is this what those who go to heaven hear when angels sing for them?’Good thing I am a master of controlling my facial expressions so that none of my thoughts could be seen in my face.

“Ah yes good morning, may I ask what happened last night?” I asked with a pleading voice and face.

‘Please tell me we made love, please tell me we made love, please tell me we made love, please tell me we made love’ I kept on pleading inside my head as I enter the room.

“Oh, you can’t remember huh. Well you got hit by a carriage and were out cold” she replied.

‘Whaattt??!! Carriage? Is that like a new position? Was I out of the game for that long?’

“Could you tell me exactly what happened last night? Details please.”

‘I can’t waste anymore time. I need to remember’ I’ve resolved myself to hear the legendary story I will pass on to the next generation.

“Sit down first. I’ve prepared a meal for you so listen while you eat” I immediately accepted the offer since my legs might give out after hearing my exploits.

We were in the kitchen. I sat at the end of the table and she sat to my right handing me the soup that was seducing my nose with its delicious smell.

“Now, where should I start?” She asked herself looking at the ceiling remembering the events of last night. It was as if I forgot the soup was hot from all the anticipation. Maybe my cold hands cooled it off. That's why I had no problem swallowing it spoon after spoon.

The few minutes of her narrating what actually happened felt like an eternity of torture from all the embarrasment that filled my whole being. I continued to eat the soup hoping it’ll wash away all those shameful thoughts.

“That should be everything, I think”, she concluded with a charming smile on her face. Just when I was about to open my mouth to apologize for my misunderstanding, she cut me off and took me by surprise with what she said.

“Now, let’s talk about payment”, the cute and innocent smile was suddenly replaced by a look I was familiar with.
