Chapter 141: The Journey to the Slane Theocracy

Nana arrived alone at the capital of the Slane Theocracy.

Along the way, Nana didn't need to ask anyone for directions. There were always people who, seeing a little child wearing expensive clothes, would take advantage of her.

Then Nana would know how to get to the capital.

Of course, for those kind-hearted people, Nana didn't hesitate to take their belongings.

At this moment, the capital city, the Holy City, was in ruins, having just experienced a war.

The checkpoint at the city gate was strict, but Nana didn't plan on using invisibility to climb the walls like before.

She walked straight through openly.

"Stop! Where are your parents?" the soldier shouted as he saw Nana trying to walk into the city gate.

"I'm here to join the Black Scriptures," Nana said with a very serious expression.

"Answer my question!" the soldier shouted, trying to scare the little girl in front of him.

The soldier thought the little girl must be crazy. The Black Scriptures weren't something you could just join casually.

Nana ignored him and continued walking straight into the city. She was looking for someone who could help her join the Black Scriptures.

"Stop!"

The soldier chased after her, trying to pat her on the shoulder, but even though he was just a step away, he missed several times when he reached out.

The soldier suddenly felt something was off about this little girl.

Several soldiers around saw this scene and all attempted to capture Nana, but they couldn't touch her at all.

Each time, it was just a hair's breadth away.

Nana appeared to be walking normally, without suddenly speeding up or anything unusual.

The captain of the soldiers blew the alert whistle.

Hearing the whistle, the nearby soldiers in training all ran toward the scene.

Nana calmly waited for the soldiers to approach.

During this time, the gate guards kept charging at her, but Nana easily dodged every attempt.

Nana made no move to attack, while the other soldiers aimed to capture her alive.

Soon, a patrol squad of three soldiers arrived, and they surrounded Nana in layers, forming tight circles inside and out.

They closed in together, determined to capture Nana.

But Nana simply jumped lightly and leaped out of the encirclement.

Everyone was stunned by her incredible jumping ability.

There was also a brief glimpse of white lace in her attire.

Though it was just for a moment, many people noticed.

The soldiers spread out this time and charged at her, trying to capture Nana with a wheel battle strategy.

But no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't even touch the hem of her clothes, which made the training captain feel troubled.

"Who exactly are you?" the training captain asked.

"I came here to join the Black Scriptures," Nana said.

If it weren't for Yulia's instruction to Nana to avoid fighting as much as possible, Nana would have already killed all of these people.

Yulia had told Nana that in order to join the Black Scriptures, she needed to find someone with great power.

And when meeting such a person, she had to demonstrate her strength.

Although Nana had only shown a small part of her ability, it was enough to catch the attention of these people.

Hearing Nana's words, the patrol captain lowered his head and hesitated for a moment.

"Wait here. I'll go find someone with the authority to let you into the Black Scriptures."

The patrol captain left with a few people.

The others stayed behind to guard, wary of Nana doing anything else.

Nana looked at them. They were all staring at her, and this made her very unhappy. She really wanted to take action, but she held herself back.

"I must be usefull for niisan," Nana thought to herself.

Then, in front of everyone, she turned invisible.

The crowd stared at each other in confusion.

"Spellcaster, quickly find that girl!" the patrol captain shouted. To prevent invisible people from entering the city, every city gate had a spellcaster. These spellcasters could see through skills and detect invisibility.

The spellcaster began chanting a spell. When the chant finished, the magic took effect, but he couldn't find Nana's trace at all.

"It seems like the girl has left," the spellcaster said.

"How could she leave so quickly? She was just here," the captain replied.

"I haven't left!" Nana suddenly appeared in front of the spellcaster and spoke.

The spellcaster was so startled by Nana's sudden appearance that he fell to the ground.

"How is that possible? My spell that breaks invisibility couldn't detect your trace!"

Nana didn't want to respond to him, but then she thought to herself, "Isn't this the perfect opportunity to show my strength?"

"The reason is simple: you're too weak to see through my invisibility," Nana said, before turning invisible again.

The spellcaster, not willing to give up, cast the detection spell once more, but still couldn't find Nana's presence.

This spellcaster had a stubborn temperament—if it didn't work once, he'd try twice; if twice didn't work, he'd try three times.

It wasn't until he exhausted his magic that he still couldn't detect Nana.

As the patrol captain was planning to report to his superior for further instructions, he encountered one of the members of the Black Scriptures.

It was Quaiesse, the fifth seat of the Black Scriptures, known as the "One-Man Army." He was also the older brother of Clementine.

The patrol captain told Quaiesse everything that had happened.

"Oh, interesting. Where is she? I'll go take a look," Quaiesse said.

Quaiesse, after learning everything from the patrol captain, headed toward the city gate.

A few minutes later, Quaiesse arrived at the gate.

"Where's the little girl from earlier?" Quaiesse asked the gate soldiers.

"Isn't she right behind you?" one of the soldiers replied, looking at him.

Quaiesse turned around and saw Nana standing right behind him, staring at him.

His heart skipped a beat. This little girl had managed to get behind him without him noticing. If she had intended to kill him, he would have had no chance to resist.

"I must still be fatigued from recent battles, causing my alertness to drop," Quaiesse thought to himself, trying to rationalize his lapse.

"You look pretty weak. Are you really a member of the Black Scriptures?" Nana asked, her gaze fixed directly on Quaiesse.

"My name is Quaiesse, Fifth Seat of the Black Scriptures. If you want to join, the first thing you need to do is defeat me," Quaiesse said.

As soon as he finished speaking, a dagger was already pressed against his neck.

"Do you surrender?" Nana asked calmly.

The soldiers around them stared in disbelief. Many of them had witnessed Quaiesse's prowess in previous battles. Yet here he was, a powerful warrior, with a dagger held to his throat by a little girl.

"I wasn't ready. This doesn't count!" Quaiesse responded.

"Then I'll give you three minutes to prepare," Nana said, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.

Quaiesse opened his mouth to say something but ultimately held back.

After all, her strength was undeniable. Trying to argue would only result in her refusal.
