CHAPTER 1 – A SECOND CHANGE AT LIFE

CHAPTER 1 – A SECOND CHANGE AT LIFE

Who would have thought my life would be taken by a falling water tower.

Tony thought to himself as he lay pinned on the ground. He was coughing up blood as his lower body had been crushed by a beam from the water tower. His vision was getting blurry as he heard small explosions around him. Before his vision faded to black.

It had just been a normal morning for him as he was going for a morning jog down a deserted stretch of country road. He saw an eighteen-wheeler go flying by him at top speed. “Why is that truck going so fast.” He muttered to himself. He wasn’t surprised though. Many vehicles sped down this section of country road. Tony was snapped out of his thoughts when the truck slammed on its brakes. The truck tried to avoid hitting a deer and crashed into a water tower. The truck rolled over several times before coming to a stop upside down blocking the road. Dust was kicked up everywhere from the impact. The cab of the truck was smoking.

The truck had managed to severe one of the legs to the tower. Now it was leaning dangerously sideways on with only three legs. Tony came racing over to the cab to see the driver unconscious. At the same time two other drivers who witnessed the wreck also stopped to assist. One of them was a girl was quickly on her phone as she had called for emergency services. The other driver approached Tony. She told him she was a doctor, and she needed his help to get the driver out of the cab of the truck. They went over to the cab and pulled the driver out just in the nick of time. The cab soon caught fire. The woman pulled the unconscious man away on a blanket she had. The man only had a deep gash on his forehead. She said she didn’t know what internal injuries he had until he woke up.

The girl who had called for emergency services soon joined them as they watched the cab burn from a safe distance. The flames soon spread to the trailer which then let off a small blast. Everyone was knocked off their feet. Tony fell flat on his back. He managed to get back up before he heard. “Watch out.” By then it was too little too late. A piece of the water tower came falling and crushed Tony. He fell to the ground as the peace of metal crushed him…

I hope the others were able to escape. Tony just sighed as his body drifted into the unknown. He could see a bright light coming at the end of a tunnel. As he approached the tunnel another one appeared before him. This one was flashing with all sorts of colors and lights. It attracted him so he went to the flashy tunnel of light. As he stepped out of the light he was greeted by an angel. The angel spoke to Tony. “Welcome to the second chance at life.”

Tony just stood there looking confused. “Second chance at life.” Tony remarked, by raising his brow. “Yes, the second chance at life. You see God was taking pity on those who had expired to early in life. So, he made up a new chance for people with a second chance at life. You are the first one to be in the experience.” The angel finished his statement.

“So, what is the catch then?” Asked Tony. “Nothing really. Just a few requirements. First a soul must die prematurely. Second, the soul must not have to many sins against them.” The angel answered Tony’s question without hesitation. “God knows a lot of you folks like magic and the likes, so he has set up with other deities in the universe to experiment with the second chance at life.” The angel waved to Tony to follow him to a circular platform. “Here is what your choice and how you will look in your second chance at life.”

Tony decided he wanted to be a swordsman and to protect others with a powerful sword. He chose to keep his features the same. Tony chose his stats and attributes. Then he finalized his new character in life.

“Once I send you on your way you will meet the world’s guardian for a tutorial. After that you will find yourself near a starting town.” The angel said as he began pushing buttons for no reason. As if they were pretending to be busy.

The angel wished him good luck. Right as the angel pushed their hand against a seal to send Tony to the new world. The angel almost forgot to warn him the system was still buggy. Tony frowned at the news as he was then teleported to his new second life.
