Thanks for wadding through 3 installments of confusion and weirdness--Or, hey, people that took one look at this sorry mess and clicked her to be as non-committal and least time wasting as possible-
Welcome to siVisPhases. Cutting to the chase, what can you expect and why should you read this?:
-Urban Fantasy: Instead of a masquerade or hidden worlds--the fantasy is ever-present and takes a toll on what is akin to our world
-Shounen: But in a western setting, sensibilities. Will be fights, training, and escalating conflicts: buuut...
-Power System: Based on process, dexterity, and methodology. Action will be more like supernatural thought puzzles, psychology factors a great deal, and powers require effort to work--and even then, they have a chance to not work due to oversight or just simple bad luck. But, once one distills the process and endure failures: the abilities can be shaped, applied and build upon into so much bullshit--you think you're in JoJo's.
-Progression: The kink to this breed of progression is that it's constant, and very impressionable. There's no resting on powerful lions--one must sit down and evolve their powers, abilities, and even bodies. It saves all progress... Even mistakes.
Now you see how this is going to be very harsh and at times unforgiving--but all the breakthroughs being so much more than the typical ones we see often.
Now, what's the story like? The mood, the feel?:
If you liked what you saw from the original plans of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kamen Rider, the Persona series, and Worm--you'll probably like this series. Moody as fuck, scary as fuck, harsh as fuck--but as mentioned before, it prides itself on also showing the moments were it isn't always like that. The keywords here are growth, perseverance, experiences and vulnerability. The story revolves around these concepts, and they're what inspires the mood.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
While it's easy to gas your story up, I feel like it's important to list the cons as well. It's only fair, and I don't want people to waste their time and/or feel betrayed:
>This will be a very emotional story, centered on the most moody stage of life: teenagers. If you feel that it's cringe to see teens bicker, or angst or even cry: yeah. There's gonna be a lot of that, so steer away if you wanna. Hell, this story attacks the very idea of needing to "get over" things in the sense of becoming emotionally numb, and the intensity of these various situations will cause people to get emotional. So again, your call if you can take that.
>Failure is the focus of the story. I built this story because--not a fuming dislike of competency porn--because I feel we as a people are starting to demonize or trying to get away from the concept. Things fuck up--we fuck up, it's a natural part of life. It sucks, but it's a process to go through--and the story shows just internalizing that proves healthier than just striving to be immutable gods. And just to note, not saying that the protags are constant fuck-ups and buffoons, just putting it out there that just because there's cunning strats and flawless builds--that doesn't save anyone from mistakes. So...
>This isn't gratification-based or "typical" catharsis-based storytelling. This story not using "numbers go up"/"weak-to-god being OC"/"feats grow more and more gloriously insane" aside, sometimes goals aren't just reached, or personal wrongs righted. These characters are going to lose and some of those losses are going to stick no matter what they do. They'll have to deal and come up with some other solution, not just towards the problem itself, but personally as well--because that fucking sucks to go through. But at the very least, they will get through it. Eventually.
>It's frustratingly realistic. This story'll go into and explore those tenants of the human condition and experiences that we fucking hate--and the reason why we're on a site writing/reading fantasy stories in the first place. But the fiction that got to me and made lasting impact were the ones that touched the subjects I tried running away from. As a result, there will be periods where things are very emotionally draining and just flat out suck. But thankfully, this is a story that could be put down and read in a better headspace--and moreso, clearly shows how we as a people can endure the bad spots and come out better. I understand if you don't wanna take that risk and turn away.
So yeah. Thanks for even reading this far, and hopefully, this is the exact thing you've been looking for.
