“Well! How would you like a job?”
“Wh-what?!”
*microphone static*
Carissa: hello? Hellooo? Oh! There we go!
*quiet clattering sound*
Carissa, muffled: Oh dear…
Carissa: H-hey everyone! Welcome back to Otherside Radio. I’m new your host Carissa.
Carissa: Er... I-I mean I'm your new host...
*quiet intelligible cursing*
Carissa: I know some of you were expecting Quincy like normal, but… well being the first human to patch in to the signal got his attention.
*Sigh*
Carissa: I-I’m not sure what I’m doing here, I’ve n-never been a radio host. So let’s give it our b-best shot!
*Paper shuffling*
Carissa, muffled: Let’s seeeee. Where did I put, oh! Here we go!
Carissa: Today’s show takes us to the rainy streets of… mmm. I can’t… quite pronounce that with my vocal cords, but Quincy left a note.
Carissa: ‘Heyyy Cassie.’ Not my name but alright… ‘Good luck on your first showwwww. Figured you couldn’t reeeeead this week’s name, but in your language it sssssssshould translate to Winter Lights.’
Carissa, muffled: ‘p.s. Somehow the bathrooms became a portal so unless you want to get lost in existence try to avoid them until I can get them fixed.’
Carissa: Well guess that answers that . Let’s uh, let’s just get started...

*Clears voice*
Carissa: It’s almost always raining on Winter Lights. The small cities that light up the planet are made of canal routes and buildings that glow…
The inhabitants don’t mind the constant drizzle, or the occasional downpour. They love it as many species love the sunny morning rays or clear night sky.
Outside a rare few, the Lumis, amphibious by nature, despise the rare sunny days, the dryness of their skin, the heat of the earth beneath their feet.
Despite the recurring rain, the planet is mostly land, with a small ocean breaking up the two main land masses from each other.
*Deep breath*
Carissa, distant: the clouds are a wondrous sight. They gleam and swirl in gentle patterns, filled with noxious gasses that tinge the falling drops with color. The fog tinged a dim gray in comparison. They glow like a city on their own. Glittering like they’re filled if stardust.
Behind them the sky a pale green. Thick like a layer of smog just above the clouds, the sun glow a bright blue when it peaks out.
The ground is a deep purple. The claylike soil stays damp and muddy, children running and playing in the dirt before returning to their homes for the day. The adults in turn, dance in the rain in their free time. Instruments set up to catch the rain and play music so the streets are never quiet.
The architecture winds upward like coral, rough and colorful that glows and shines through the gray of the sky. The buildings hum, a musical light show that fills the rainy streets. The inside is soft and plush, like rich carpet and silks. Inside you can hear the song each building sings. It sound like mumbled hymns in low tones, it feels like turning up the radio so loud, the bass radiates in your bones.
At the same time its quiet. All is still. Its a home to those who inhabit that peaceful world.
Carissa: Well… that was, uh…
*Clears throat*
Carissa: Thank you for tuning into today’s segment. Remember to send in your requests of what reality you’d like us to peek into next.
Carissa: I’ve been your host, Carissa, and we’re signing off with music from Winter Lights, the title translates to ‘Those Bright Green Skies.’
Mom, over the phone: So how was your first day, honey?
Carissa: It was… weird but good, I think? Quincy seemed to like my segment.
Mom: Oh do you have the recording, I couldn’t find the radio frequency anywhere.
Carissa: Yeah, but it came out weird. Like I pulled the tape from the machine myself to hear the playback, it kind of sounds like whalesong?
Mom: Walesong?
Carissa: I know right? I’ll mention it to Quincy, maybe the settings were just off on the recorder.
Mom: Well, could you at least tell me what the segment was about?
Carissa: It was… hrm?
*silence*
Mom: Carissa?
Carissa, distracted: S-sorry mom, I’m uh. I’m gonna have to call you back.
Mom: Carissa? Carris-!
*hang up beep*
