Chapter 4 - Office

The door to the BH-09 opened with a soft whisper.

Sam walked in, his eyes flicking over the expanse of the open lobby. He was immediately struck by the architecture.

High ceilings, white ceramic floors, and frosted glass offices gave the place a vintage appeal. At the same time, intelligent displays and high-tech gadgetry reflected a modern business setting.

At the front desk, the receptionist eyed Sam's plain clothing and youthful appearance. She had already made up her mind to brush him off, not expecting him to be a serious customer.

"I'm interested in leasing office space for my company. Could you give me a tour and let me know the rates?" Sam asked politely.

With a dismissive smirk, the receptionist beckoned to a newcomer sales associate, Misha. "Sure thing! Misha, please show our guest, the office spaces."

Misha, flustered but eager, came forward and greeted Sam warmly. "Hello, Sir! I'm Misha. I'll be your guide today!"

"Great!" replied Sam.

As they made their way to the expansive elevator, Misha inquired about Sam's budget. "What range are you looking at, sir?"

"I need a 2500 square foot space for half a year. Do you have anything like that?"

Misha nodded. "We do have an office that size, located on the 18th floor. Does that work for you?"

"That sounds good. Let's have a look."

Their conversation was interrupted when a man stormed in from the side door. "You can't just rent my office out like that!" he bellowed, causing a bit of a stir in the lobby.

Sam's brow furrowed as he watched the man's red-faced rage.

"I'm sorry, sir. Your lease expired yesterday, and we received no renewal notice from your end," the receptionist replied calmly, not missing a beat.

After a heated discussion, the man left, frustration etching deep lines into his face.

And Sam and Misha arrived at the elevator and went to floor 18.

The office was exactly what Sam had in mind. It was spacious enough for a team of thirty, which was more than adequate for his needs. He decided to move forward with the rental.

Negotiations about the price soon followed. "Usually, the market rate is $45 per square foot annually. But the Business Hub offers it at $35, thanks to government incentives. Since you're renting for just six months, there's an additional $5 charge. So, the total comes to $50,000 for the six months," Misha clarified.

Sam only transferred $50000 to Eva; he had $50000 left for the rent. Who would have guessed that it would be the same exact amount for the rent?

Returning to the reception, the receptionist couldn't resist a mocking remark. "Did the tour go well? Did you manage to find an office to your liking?"

Misha, beaming, piped in. "Yes, he's renting the 18th-floor office for six months!"

The receptionist's smirk fell as the news sank in. "Really? He could afford that?"

Sam shot a knowing look at the receptionist, secretly amused at her shocked expression. 'People are too quick to judge by appearances,' he thought, somewhat satisfied.

Misha finalized the paperwork and handed Sam the keys. "Unit 3 on the 18th floor is yours for the next six months. Enjoy your new office!"

"Thank you for your help, Misha. See you around." With that, Sam left, leaving behind a group of stunned staff who couldn't understand why a man with such resources would dress so modestly and take public transport.

Back at his apartment, Sam sent the new office address to Eva.

[Secured the office. Unit-3, 18th floor, Business Hub. Our new home for Orion Enterprises.]

Eva's response was immediate, her excitement palpable even through text.

But the day was far from over. His work on the Translation AI was complete, but he couldn't release it directly to the internet.

He decided to develop an app as an API model and offer subscriptions for access.

He began working on the app immediately.

Once settled, Sam set about his primary task - integrating the Translation AI into an app using the web service of NovaTech. Hours stretched into the night as he coded, debugged, and tested. Meanwhile, Eva took charge of operations, ensuring everything ran smoothly.

He decided to set up the server once his company was formally registered. It had been a long day, and he needed rest.

The next day dawned, a big day for Sam.

The Orion Enterprises was about to make its debut, and he had no intention of being late. He arrived early at the Business Bureau, where he met Eva.

"Good Morning, Eva!"

"Good morning, Sam! You're up bright and early."

"I can't afford to be late today," Sam responded.

The company registration process was surprisingly swift. 'Perhaps the government wants to support budding entrepreneurs,' Sam mused.

Once the paperwork was done, Sam and Eva proceeded to their newly rented office. They had lots to do in preparation for the launch.

The integration was complex, but Sam was an experienced hand. The NovaTech web service was efficient and user-friendly, making his work considerably easier. By the time the sun was setting, he had successfully configured the AI into the app. A few more tests confirmed its operational status.

In the next two days, Eva hired fifteen customer service representatives while Sam set up the web service on NovaTech's server, uploaded the Translation AI, and developed applications for the major app stores.

He remembered a successful marketing strategy from his past life and decided to implement it.

He tweaked a few backend settings to optimize the app's performance.

Finally, on the launch day, Sam found himself in the conference room at the Business Hub, Eva at his side.
