Chapter 16: Celebration

Chapter 16: Celebration

Talnar is in his parents' tent. They help him prepare for his 'awakening' celebration. Everyone will gather and drink, sing, dance and do many more interesting things. He, on the other hand, just before midnight, will have to sit on a big chair positioned a little bit higher than the other chairs and when midnight breaks out then he will 'awaken' and get his two classes.

Usually, such a ceremony takes place in a family tent with the closest members of the family, but everyone is celebrating because Talnar has been chosen by one of the four supreme gods and creator of his and his parent's race.

His mother comes up to him holding the clothes he will have to wear during the celebration. Wearing it was extremely difficult because of the amount of decoration that makes it quite delicate. Fortunately, thanks to the help he manages to put on the outfit, and then goes to take a look in the mirror.

"Wow..."

He is impressed with my appearance. Talnar's normally dishevelled long white hair is nicely styled, is dressed in black and white robes which symbolizes his belonging to the god we worship.

While looking at his reflection his father enters the tent.

"Everybody ready?"

Seeing her husband is already ready, Arien leads the way towards the middle of the camp.

On one side there are tables and benches on which guests sit. On the other side, there is an empty space where guests can dance and have fun. In the middle, on the elevation, there is a primitive throne on which Talnar is supposed to sit at midnight.

Together they go and sit on one of the free tables. Then Oron gets up and goes to bring something to eat and drink while Arien goes looking for her friends leaving Talnar alone.

Suddenly someone shouts behind him.

"Hey"

He turns around and notices Jomo, the chosen one of the supreme of the order.

Jomo is a dragon and like almost every other representative of this race, he can change his form to a humanoid. He is a bit taller than Talnar, has golden reptile eyes and short red hair. He is older than him and had his ceremony two years ago.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Hi Jomo"

He comes close and sits next to him.

"Nervous?"

Hearing this question Talnar gets tense and answers.

"A little bit"

Jomo puts a hand on his shoulder, smiles gently and says.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine."

We both start looking at the stars in the sky and enjoy the views. After a few minutes, someone gets close to them from behind and yells.

"Here you are!"

Hearing the voice they turn around and look behind them.

In front of their eyes stands a treant. Her name is Neva. The one who was chosen by the goddess of nature. She is the highest and oldest of those three. She comes up and sits on another side of the table.

"So what were you doing?"

Jomo answers her question.

"Nothing important"

They start talking about various topics and a while later Talnar's parents come back.

His father put a big food plate in the middle of the table and along with Arien sat at the table.

For the next few hours, they talk and eat. Until finally a group consisting of the undead, treant and the dragon walked up to their table

"Hello, can we join you?"

Oron agrees and introduces everyone while pointing at them with his hand.

."Yes, of course. My name is Oron, this is my wife Arien, this is my son Talnar and those two are his friends Jomo and Neva."

Pyton nods his head and introduces his group.

"Thank you. My name is Pyton, and this is Amil and Ari. We came today from the wilderness."

The newly arrived group sat next to them taking all the remaining seats at the table. They started talking to Talnar and the others and every now and then they looked in his and other chosen direction. At first, they thought it was just a coincidence, but later on, they realized that it doesn't seem like that. they feel some strange connection with them. It's like they've known each other for a long time and only Talnar's parents seem not to feel it.

Knowing that something is not right Talnar thinks about how to get to the bottom of this.

'Something is wrong with them. We will ask them later, but not in front of my parents... After the ceremony will be the best moment.'

He and the other two look at each other and understand that they share the same idea.

"And now the moment we are all waiting for"

Talnar turns around and sees a high priest walking in the middle of the square.

"Talnar, boy, come to me."

He leaves the table and approaches the priest. Priest signals him to sit on the throne while continuing his speech.

"Today we will witness the awakening of the chosen of the supreme god of death."

After a moment midnight comes and with it the beginning of his story.
