Gavin Glynn POV:
Luka is growing by the day, I kept urging Ada to just let him join me in my daily routine, but she never agreed.
I might come off as a bit hasty when it comes to Lu. But truth be told, I can't help but feel worried about his future. Manifesting his abilities at such a young age is a double-edged sword.
Talent, it's a scary thing. If not nurtured properly, it can turn into something toxic, something that consumes rather than empowers. That's why I've taken it upon myself to ensure he receives the best training possible. It's not just about honing his skills; it's about teaching him discipline, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
I want him to understand the weight of his gifts.
I might have seemed more like a mentor than a dad. But sometimes, that's just how you have to be.
Truth is, I never had much of a childhood myself. Never met my dad, so I don't have a guidebook for this dad stuff. All I knew were swords and war, bloodbaths and survival. Fighting monsters and living through adventures was my way of life.
But then, I met her: A charming beauty. I had just returned from adventuring and joined the Madanian army. After a clash with the dwarves near Ironforge on the far east of Madania, I found myself wounded, gasping for breath in the rocky terrain. And there she was, a vision of hope. She covered the wound with herbs and bandage cloth. She was my savior, and in that moment, a spark lit in my heart.
For the first time, I could see beyond the battlefield. I started yearning for her presence, for her touch. She became the reason I wanted to continue living.
Then you came, Lu. My pride and joy. You gave me a reason to wield my sword again, to hold it up against any evil that dares to come near you. But I'm afraid I might not always be there for you. That's why I want to train you, to make you stronger.
“Honey, how’s Lu?” whispered my wife
“Oh !” You startled me” I turned my head to Ada ”shush, He’s sound asleep”
“Thank the guardians for blessing me with such a lovely child and a loving husband” said Ada in a soft tone as she leaned in to kiss me.
Luka Glynn POV :
Aside from the usual stories he recited to me at my bed time, Father would sometimes just start talking to himself whenever he thinks I’ve fallen asleep.
Well usually, I just sleep and let him do his thing. But last night was different. It was the first time he talked about his past.
His voice kept resonating in my head all night long.
Today marked my fourth birthday, usually it was just me, my mother and my father but this time neighbors came along. each one holding a present for me.
“He has grown a lot, kushu kushu kushu”
These grown ups with their goofy baby noises imitations. ugh!
Suddenly I felt disturbance in the air, my senses tingling, urging me to flee.
“HOW CUTE” A growl came from outside the door.
A gigantic beast of a woman walked in approaching me as I clutched my mother’s hand with both my arms.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
She was enormous, much larger than Gav. Her figure built like a tank, contained the most refined muscles I’ve seen till now. Her face was sharp, with jawlines so refined.
Her long curly hair cascaded down her back while also covering half her forehead.
You know? You see my mother and think this town has the prettiest women. But then, boom! Big Bertha the goliath storms in like a bull.
But I later realized how friendly she was, she worked at a renowned blacksmith shop in the town’s center.
“Yo Gav ! Thank god your boy got his face after your wife.” shouted a bald, muscular man.
“Yeah ! at least he won’t have it rough with the women like his daddy” A skinny guy followed.
Ahaha they made a really weird duo. Quite funny though !
“Well, you say that but look what I pulled, you bastards" said Gavin as he held Ada close to his chest.
I could see the confused look on her face, she didn’t know whether to feel flattered or angry.
I really hated how they talked about my father, even though they were joking.
But sure damn they were right!!!!
As I stood in front of the sunlit window glass, my reflection greeted me with clarity; “Hello there my name is Luka, Lu for short! I have a round little head decorated with my mother’s wavy dark hair, along with her red eyes. A combo that would make all women weak at the knees.
I had my father's nose, though. Well it’s just the nose but I would give him credit just so he doesn't feel left out.
The party was crazy good. Well, it might just be that I wasn’t accustomed to having people come over to my birthdays. But nevertheless, I had a lot of fun!
Out of all the gifts I got, my favorite was Ada’s emerald pendant. Shiny and beautiful, it reminded me of my exploring days. I could feel my eyes watering, a tear falling down my eye.
Ada, who was busy talking to the neighbors, turned around and noticed my pitiful situation.
“Aww, baby, why are you crying? Did you hurt yourself?“
I wanted to thank her, I wanted to tell her how much this present meant for me. I might have sounded dramatic, but this was the first time someone who truly loved me offered me a gift.
But I couldn’t. I mean how could a kid say such words?
I quickly brushed my tears and hugged her.
“What a loving son, you’re really lucky Ada '' said Bertha with a low manly pitch as she pinched my cheek.
Moments passed, and everyone was enjoying themselves. I walked my way to the end of the room and grabbed a wooden sword.
It was quite longer than I had thought but I managed.
I walked to Gavin and gazed at him while barely holding the sword.
His eyes sparkled, as he instantly jumped and grabbed the other wooden stick.
You know when the boys don't have to speak. They just look each other in the eyes and booom ! Instant telepathy !
We went outside and faced each other. It was like those movie scenes, except this was me doing the fighting.
Everyone followed wondering what was going through our heads.
“Is he seriously going to fight a 4 year old?” said the skinny man.
“I hope he doesn’t hurt little Luka" added one of the women.
My mother flipped her hair like a sassy girl and crossed her hands.
She lifted her chin and said graciously :
“No worries, Our little Lu is the strongest little warrior! ”
I stood there gazing at my father, waiting for him to make his move.
He stood firmly, feet apart, toes gripping the ground. His knees were bent a little. His body was straight but relaxed, shoulders back, chin up. His arms were upright, bent at the elbows, hands open and ready to strike. Then, his muscles tensed, a faint mist emanating from his form. His right foot made a subtle crack in the ground.
“I spent years watching him”, I thought to myself, “ I know every one of his moves.”
“I would be able to rea… “
Suddenly, a punch struck me right in my gut.
As I tried to make sense of what was happening, the world flipped upside down. and I fell headfirst on the ground.
“..huh?”
“What the hell happened?”
“GAV !!! Why would you do that to your son !!! “ screamed the bald man.
As I lifted myself back up, everyone stood there in awe.
A blow that should have left me half dead on the ground only left a bruise on my forehead. Gav must have eased up on his punch right before he struck, but even so, it wasn't something a 4 year old could withstand.
“Gav don’t tell me.., he manifested?” exclaimed the skinny man.
“Oh yeah, three years ago”
“Three? Thre….”
I could see the looks on their faces, it was quite amusing.
Seeing people shocked at your achievements was a scene I frequently experienced in my past life.
Ada hurried towards me. You could see the pride on her face.
“Didn’t I tell you? Our Lu is going to rule this world !!! “ She said as she squeezed me against her chest.
