The Revelation

I wonder how long has it been since a quite endearing war like this had happened. Unlike the previous two wars with the elven kingdoms. This war is far more perilous than it was supposed to be. I guess I can say pretty much all of this happened because someone had put a seal on the two of us.

But that cannot be.

She wasn't supposed to be alive.

Then how was the seal erected?

I remained silent as I went back to the battlefield where I last fought Ruin.

Arriving at the scene I could see Med and Ruin standing beside each other, as if the both of them were reluctant to strike the other. A sight quite unimaginable for me since the last time they met, Med held no mercy whatsoever towards Ruin.

"It's quite rare to see you this composed, Death."

"If he didn't tell me something interesting, I would've already killed him by now."

Med spoke to me with a convinced tone. Yet, I was to differ, In front of me was a man who had almost vaporized my subordinates into oblivion. For reasons that I can't yet comprehend. So it was natural for me to be wary of him.

"Lord Revival, I know about your innate demon king powers. The one that lets you restore your authority the more damage you both take." Ruin spoke to me with a gesture of praise.

I looked at Med who was beside me and then back to him. "How did you gain this knowledge?" I said with a flat stare.

"Of course, I gain this knowledge from none other than the saint herself."

"The Saint?!" Med's eyes were twitching a reaction that was also present in my own face. The revelation of the matter was quite incomprehensible. As there is no way Carmilla The Saint was still alive.

"You mean Carmilla The Saint was behind all of this?" I asked Ruin again confirming his words.

"Yes. In fact, She is the current leader of the seven heroes of the United Front." Ruin said with a devilish smile. His response made me a bit dizzy, it had been quite some time since I had heard her name.

"Then was what your role in all of this?" Med asked with a determined look. He readied his fist enveloped with magical energy. As if ready to strike at any given moment he detects a lie or a misleading statement.

"I've told you before, right? We are the Ebon Heralds. The ones who oversee the world and control it from the darkness."

"You are saying that you can control the world? What a joke. Are you playing and switching roles from being a hero to a villain anytime you see a winning side?" Med is charging his fist with an insane burst of magical energy.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

"No. Quite the opposite. From the start, I always carved my own path. A path within my own beliefs. And yes. I can indeed control the world from darkness. For I possess knowledge that you two demon kings don't have."

"What kind of knowledge is that?" I asked Ruin.

"Certainty of The Future." Ruin spoke in a way that is familiar to both me and Med.

"How the hell?" Med was ready to strike yet I held his hand. "How were you able to speak like us?" I asked him.

"In this world, The Demon Kings may be the strongest. Yet without much knowledge of this world and its future. Will the demon king succeed in their goal of exterminating every race besides the demon kind?" Ruin blabbered as he walked from left to right with a relaxed gesture.

"Oops. Perhaps. Maybe.. You two had different goals from the start?"

"!!!"

That can't be.

The differing principles that the two of us have. It wasn't even disclosed to other members of the UF or NPCs. Only Lilitha and Zeta knew our differing opinions, yet how can the man before us know such crucial details?

"One wants to destroy all but his own. One wants to transform all into his own. Interesting argument no? Which one would succeed is more interesting though." Ruin said. "I will gladly tell you who I am, but with an exposition. In the darkness where no one can see. There is someone who sees the variable which not yet been considered. Someone who can see a solution that no one had ever thought of before. That person is me. So don't get ahead of yourself and think you are an engine. When in reality you both are just a cog." Ruin's eyes glowed in blue."Do you understand? Demon Kings?"

"RUPTURE!!" Med loses his cool as he casts his instant kill attack at the man before him, yet the same as last time...

"I knew you were gonna do that. So my real body left a few minutes ago. This again was just an offshoot. Bye, ~" Ruin's offshoot disintegrates into fragments of magical energy.

Med puts a hand on his face, and by the looks of it, he is extremely frustrated. "Tell me our people are at least safe." He said towards me.

I stuck my tongue out and said, "Who the hell do you think I am? I am The Demon King of Revival remember!?"

"Dang it! I am in no mood for jokes!" Med shouted as he chased me around the now-empty battlefield. After a few minutes, I began to speak again about our current situation. "What should we do about this?"

Med stopped as he looked around him.

"If Carmilla has returned, something is wrong. I can't quite say much about it though."

"Does that mean you want me to spare the heroes? Med?"

"I was about to kill all of them yet now I am not sure."

His statement was to be expected. If the seven heroes die while Carmilla is present, then an equality scale will happen. Then the question remained what is an equality scale?

It is a phenomenon that makes the power scale of magical abilities quite stable. In a sense, in this case, if any of the heroes today would die at the hands of the Demon Kings. Then the equality scale will reincarnate the soul of the fallen heroes and be multiplied by 2. If there are 7 heroes and we kill all of them. Then the heroes will be in a total of 14 the next time we face off.

Such is the authority of equality possessed by Carmilla The Saint, The Antithesis of A Demon King.

"What bothers me is not Carmilla," Med said to me with a sweat dripping from his forehead. "Rather it was that guy... How the hell is that guy able to speak using a [Author] voice?"

I shake my head to Med's confusion. No answer popped up in my head.

Perhaps he was right to be more cautious of Ruin than to Carmilla.
