As the black lightning surged through the Demon Lord's form, a sense of eerie calm overtook him. He spoke with a tone that betrayed his acceptance of the inevitable, saying, "Seems you got me, mortal."
Lord Kasai, however, remained resolute and unfazed. With an icy demeanor, he responded, "Time to be squared." Activating a complex seal-based technique, he entwined the very essence of the Demon Lord within his grasp. This mystical seal served a dual purpose, both confining the Demon Lord's presence to Lord Kasai and preventing any possibility of his resurgence. Moreover, as the binding took effect, Lord Kasai began to feel an influx of incredible power surging within him—a newfound strength drawn from the vanquished Demon Lord.
The once raucous battlefield fell into stunned silence as the Demon Lord's horde of Onimon retreated, their sinister advance halted by the abrupt end of their master. The ninja clans—Kasai, Chikyu, Mizumi, and Kuki—had held their breath collectively, caught between despair and hope, until the unmistakable radiance of the Demon Lord's defeat pierced the gloom.
A mighty cheer erupted from the assembled ninjas, a chorus of triumph that echoed through the land. They knew their Jonins [joh-nin] had succeeded in their perilous mission. Yet, as they looked toward the victor, a somber realization began to creep through the jubilant crowd.
Of the four esteemed Jonins who had ventured forth, only Lord Kasai returned. His eyes, once pools of jade, now bore a mark so profound and dreadful that no one dared to utter a word. There was no need. One glance into those eyes was enough to convey the horrors that had unfolded, confirming the grim legend of the Yosonome eyes.
Lord Kasai surveyed the aftermath with a mixture of awe and horror. The battlefield lay in shambles, a testament to the cataclysmic clash that had unfolded.
As Lord Kasai knelt among the ruins of his village, his heart heavy with the weight of the devastation, the horrific scene around him seemed almost unbearable. The once-thriving settlement was now a nightmarish landscape, marred by the grisly remains of over 50,000 decapitated ninja, their lifeless bodies forming gruesome rivers of blood that flowed through the streets.
Despair threatened to consume him, and in that moment of profound sorrow, Lord Kasai's Supidome and Yosonome eyes surged with newfound power. With an incredible effort, he summoned the strength to restore not only 80% of the fallen ninja but also to mend his shattered village. Yet, despite his remarkable abilities, some souls were beyond saving, lost forever to the darkness, or already consumed by malevolent forces. Twenty percent of the fallen ninja remained beyond his reach.
The clans that had fought side by side with Lord Kasai praised his extraordinary deeds. In recognition of his selflessness and strength, they elevated him to the esteemed position of Hanshu [hahn-shoo], Lord of all Ninjas, who defended the Village of Ninja. With unity and determination, the monks, mages, and samurai continued to repel the Onimon Lords, who sought to threaten their way of life. An era of hard-earned peace began to take root.
But history has a way of repeating itself, and peace is often fragile. Ninety years had passed since the previous era of Onimon had come to a close, and a new chapter was about to unfold. Two new heroes, Hikaru [hee-kahr-roo] Kasai and Hibana [hee-bond-nah] Kasai, twins from the Village of Ninja, were poised to step into the spotlight. Their story began with rigorous training under the watchful eye of their father as they prepared to face the challenges and adventures that awaited them in a world filled with both darkness and hope.
Hikaru's fiery determination burned brightly as he faced off against his father in their dimly lit training room. Hibana, his twin sister, remained hidden in the shadows, watching their spar unfold. With a confident grin, Hikaru taunted his father, eager to prove himself.
"Father, I'll beat you this time!" Hikaru declared. He stood a few feet away from his father, poised for action. Without wasting a moment, he lunged at his father, hurling shurikens with precision. His father, a master ninja, effortlessly plucked each shuriken from the air and stashed them in his pouch.
As Hikaru closed the distance, he drew his katana, its blade intentionally dulled for training purposes. Employing the swift and precise Huaquan sword style, Hikaru launched a barrage of quick slashes. His father, a seasoned warrior, calmly retrieved a shuriken and skillfully parried Hikaru's strikes, his movements effortless.
Hikaru, realizing the need for teamwork, shouted to Hibana, who remained concealed in the shadows. With a determined nod, she leaped into action, her nimble form darting through the room. Shurikens flew from her hand, creating a chaotic hailstorm aimed at their father. In a display of remarkable skill, their father blocked Hikaru's attacks with one shuriken while effortlessly catching Hibana's projectiles with the other hand, depositing them into his ninja pouch.
Despite the intensity of their training, their father's demeanor remained calm and collected. He praised their teamwork just as a messenger ninja suddenly appeared, intruding upon their practice session. The urgency in their father's expression was palpable as the messenger delivered a message from the clan leaders.
"The clan leaders need to speak with you," the messenger ninja calmly announced.
Without hesitation, their father's playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a solemn sense of responsibility. He informed his children that he had to leave, promising to continue their training later. Hikaru couldn't hide his frustration, shouting after his departing father, "You can't leave now! I was just about to beat you!"
Hibana, her voice filled with innocence, shared her thoughts with her brother as they stood in the dimly lit training room.
"Hikaru, I wonder if we'll ever get strong enough to beat Daddy?" she mused.
Hikaru, oozing confidence, responded with determination, "We could have beaten Dad if that messenger ninja hadn't come to get him."
Hibana, while somewhat uncertain, agreed with a hopeful tone, "Hmm, okay. Maybe next time, we could show Daddy."
Hikaru, relieved by his sister's optimism, grinned and said, "Yep, but right now, let's get something to eat."
Hibana chimed in with her innocence: "No complaints with that, but let's put out the candles first."
The twins efficiently extinguished the candles in their partly lit room and proceeded toward the kitchen. However, their plans took an unexpected turn when the entire village began to tremble, followed by distant screams and thunderous explosions.
Hikaru, his expression filled with shock, asked, "What was that, Hibana?"
Hibana, her voice laced with confusion, replied, "I don't know."
Hikaru, driven by curiosity and a sense of responsibility, decided, "Let's go check it out. Who knows, we might be under attack."
Hibana, her worry evident, agreed, "Okay, Hikaru, but if there is an attack, let's head to the safe zone in the void district."
Together, Hikaru and Hibana left their house and were met with the unsettling sight of part of the village engulfed in flames. In the distance, they spotted Genin [jien-in] rank ninja assembling the Musokunin [moo-soh-koo-nin] ninja. The Genin-rank ninja urgently yelled instructions, their voices carrying through the chaos.
"If you are a Musokunin rank ninja, follow the Genin to the safe zone! If you are higher than Genin rank, head to your designated defense position in the void district! We are under attack by Onimon, and they have broken through the main gate in the void district!"
Hikaru, his excitement palpable, responded eagerly, "Let's go help them fight the Onimon."
Hibana, her worry intensifying, cautioned, "We can't. We're just Musokunin. We have to head to the safe zone."
Hikaru reluctantly agreed, "Okay, we can head to the safe zone, but let's check if there are any Musokunin that need help getting there."
Hibana, still anxious, emphasized, "Okay, but we're only looking for people that need help. Stick to the shadows to avoid attracting attention."
Hikaru, his hot-blooded nature shining through, asserted, "You don't have to tell me twice."
The twins moved stealthily through the shadows, their eyes scanning the void district for Musokunin in need of assistance. Soon, they stumbled upon a Musokunin ninja who was struggling to fend off an Onimon minion.
Hibana, overcome by worry for the Musokunin ninja in danger, insisted, "Let's go help him."
However, Hikaru, displaying his characteristic caution, replied, "Wait, we've got to do this right." Together, the twins swiftly devised a plan.
Hibana, now certain of their approach, said, "Yes, this should work." She left the shadows and hurled shurikens at the Onimon minion while Hikaru concealed himself in the nearby shadows.
The Onimon minion, infuriated and perplexed, bellowed, "Who the hell is throwing shurikens at me?" He halted his attack on the Musokunin, his blade dangerously close to the ninja's head, and turned to confront Hibana. "So, you're the one doing it, little girl."
With the Onimon minion charging towards her, preparing to cleave her in two with his massive red blade, Hibana readied her own sword using the Huaquan sword style. However, just as the Onimon minion was about to strike, Hikaru dashed forward, driving his blade into the Onimon's back and squaring him.
Hikaru, his excitement unabated, declared, "See, I told you we could beat an Onimon."
Hibana, still worried but grateful, asked, "Yes, you were right, Hikaru. Musokunin, are you all right?"
Musokunin, cool and composed, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks for helping me. You can call me Fukitsuke [foo-kits-key]."
Hibana, feeling a bit slighted by his earlier response, couldn't help but think, He just ignored my question; that's rude.
Hikaru, still exhilarated from the battle, eagerly suggested, "That was a great battle. Do you want to join us, Fukitsuke?"
Fukitsuke, maintaining his calm demeanor, replied, "I can't. I'm looking for someone, Nonkina [nonh-kee-nah]. She's a friend of mine."
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
Hibana, her curiosity piqued, inquired, "What happened to her?"
Fukitsuke explained, his tone still calm, "We were training before we got attacked by these Onimon and separated."
Hibana, sounding innocent and concerned, asked, "Do you know where she's at?"
Fukitsuke, his voice remaining calm and confident, pointed in the direction of the void gate's main entrance, stating, "Somewhere in that direction."
Hibana, with a mix of curiosity and worry in her voice, asked, "Is she near the void's main gate, Fukitsuke?"
Fukitsuke, still calm, reiterated, "I do not know. All I know is that she's going in that direction."
Hikaru, impatient and eager for action, exclaimed, "Who cares? Let's just go square some Onimon."
Following Fukitsuke's guidance, Hibana, Hikaru, and Fukitsuke made their way toward the direction he had indicated. After a few minutes of searching, they came upon a Musokunin girl engaged in combat with an Onimon wielding a staff using the Yin Bagua staff style.
Fukitsuke, maintaining his composure, identified the situation for his companions, saying, "Hikaru and Hibana, there is Nonkina. She is the one who is fighting the bald, two-horned, green humanoid Onimon wielding a great wind blade."
Without hesitation, Fukitsuke sprang into action. He rushed toward the green Onimon, hurling two kunai with precision to strike both of the creature's eyes, rendering it blind. In a swift motion, Fukitsuke then stabbed the Onimon in the back, effectively squaring it.
Nonkina, her voice filled with gratitude and relief, approached Fukitsuke and hugged him tightly, saying, "Thank you, Fukitsuke. If you hadn't come, I would have been done for."
Hikaru, astonished by Fukitsuke's abilities, asked with shock in his voice, "How did you do that, Onimon."
Nonkina, excited to share her knowledge, chimed in, "He can do it because he trained his hand to be like a blade using the Yin Style Bagua Hand martial arts. This makes him one of the strongest Musokunin."
Hibana, concerned about their safety, urged, "We should get to the safe zone. We've already wasted a lot of time here."
Just then, the group heard a thunderous explosion.
Hikaru, his curiosity piqued, suggested, "Let's go check out the loud explosion."
Hibana, still worried, cautioned, "We shouldn't. There might be strong Onimon, and if we come up against them, we won't be able to fight them because we're just kids. None of us here is probably older than 9."
Nonkina, laid-back as ever, added, "Fukitsuke is close to 10 years old. He was born on January 20th, 5015. He's 5 days away from being 10."
Hibana, curious about their ages, inquired, "How old are you, Nonkina?"
Nonkina replied in her relaxed tone, "I was born on October 5th, in the year 5015. I should be the youngest."
Fukitsuke, softly spoken, questioned, "How do you know for sure, Nonkina? My birth month is close to December, the last month of the year."
Hibana, with innocence in her voice, affirmed, "You're right, Nonkina. Both Hikaru and I were born on April 5th in the year 5015."
Nonkina, now interested, asked, "So, are you both twins?"
Hikaru, growing impatient, said, "Yes, we are twins, but let's hurry up so we can see what's happening outside of the village."
Fukitsuke, his soft-spoken nature shining through, agreed, "Okay, me and Nonkina are with you."
Hibana, showing her caring side, nodded and said, "Alright, I'll come with you, Hikaru, just because you're going to need my help."
Nonkina, with a charming demeanor, chimed in, "Don't forget, Hikaru, you will need our help too."
Hikaru, eager to get going, said, "Let's just get going already."
Hikaru, standing at 4'5" tall, had jet-black hair in a ponytail that hung half a foot long. His eyes were Supidomes, though they weren't activated at the moment. His face was smooth with no marks, and he had dark white skin. Thin, straight black eyebrows adorned his forehead, and his lips were a shade of maple. He wore a black ninja shirt, black ninja pants, and ninja shoes.
Hibana, standing at 4'3" tall, had snow-white hair that flowed in a ponytail down to her butt. Her eyes were Yosonomes, currently not activated. Her face was smooth and bright, with porcelain skin. She had full, straight, thin white eyebrows and lips the color of maple. She, too, wore a black ninja shirt, black ninja pants, and ninja shoes.
Fukitsuke, standing at 4'8" tall, had turquoise hair that extended down a foot. His eyes were yellow, and his face was youthful and smooth. His skin was medium-white and fair. Turquoise, straight eyebrows adorned his face, and his lips were a dusty rose pink. He was dressed in black ninja pants, a black ninja shirt, and ninja shoes.
Nonkina, also standing at 4'5" tall, had light brown hair styled in two buns. Her eyes were green, and her face was young and smooth. Her skin was medium white, and her slightly curved eyebrows were light brown. Her lips had a light rose-pink hue. She, too, wore a black ninja shirt, black ninja pants, and ninja shoes.
The group of four set out from the village towards the source of the explosion.
Hikaru, his voice filled with hot-blooded determination, whispered, "Where are mom and the other Jonins?" Why aren't they helping dad fight these powerful Onimon? He can't take on the Akuma [ah-koo-mah] Hell sisters alone."
Hibana, her voice innocent and hushed, replied, "Mama and the other Jonins might have to protect the village with the Soka [so-kah] against lesser powerful Onimon."
Fukitsuke, his voice soft-spoken and whispered, questioned, "How do you both know these are the Akuma Hell sisters?"
Hibana, in an innocent and whispered tone, explained, "Look at the sister who is 6’0 tall with an oval-shaped hair made of black hair containing visible air that goes from a little bit below her shoulder to two feet above her head. That's Taberu [tah-bay-roo] Akuma. She is 150 years old and the oldest sister. Taberu, as you can see, has two horns on her head, dark red eyes, light red skin, and a petite body. She has pink lips, a young-looking oily face, wears a pink ninja top with her belly showing, a pink ninja skirt, ninja shoes, eyebrows in a line shape made of black hair containing visible wind coming out of the follicles, and a sheathe with a wind-enchanted demon blade with the demon Lord family crest. The sword is also in a vertical position. She has pointy ears, feet with claws, and fingers with claws."
Hikaru, still whispering but with a hot-blooded tone, added, "The smallest sister is the one that is 5’0 tall with her flaming black hair let down for 3 feet. Her name is Burenda Akuma. She is 100 years old and the youngest sister. Burenda has two fire wings on her back with a wingspan of 5 feet, light red skin, a petite body, dark red eyes, pink lips, and a young, oily face. She has a pink cape that covers her pink samurai armor, with a parrot symbol on the cape. She doesn't wear shoes, and her eyebrows are in a line shape made of black hair with fire coming out of the follicles. She carries two great swords, each 5 feet long and 2 feet wide, enchanted with hellfire, contained in two sheathes on her back in an x-shape position with the Demon Lord’s crest on the blades. She has pointy ears, feet with claws, and fingers with claws. Despite her size, she is still a kid in demon years, since 10 years equals 1 to an Onimon. However, some are immortal."
Hibana continued, "The sister that is 5’8 tall with black hair covered in fire and arranged in two ponytails, one on the left side of her head and one on the right side, is Neko Akuma. She is 130 years old and the second-oldest sister. Neko has a 5-foot hellfire lion tail with black hair that comes from her tailbone. She has dark red eyes, light red skin, and a petite body. Like her sisters, she has pink lips and a young, oily face. Neko wears a tight-fitting black robe with no sleeves and a hole near the tailbone for her tail. The robe can absorb any type of fire. She doesn't wear shoes, and her eyebrows are in a line shape with black hair made of fire. She carries a staff that reaches from her shoulder to the ground, and it's made of an unknown metal that allows it to absorb any fire."
Fukitsuke, maintaining his soft-spoken tone, inquired, "But how do you both know all these details about the Akuma sisters?"
Hikaru, still whispering but full of energy, replied, "A wandering candy merchant told us about this years ago."
Nonkina, in a laid-back whispering tone, commented, "You Kasai twins are funny, but I wonder what we can do to help your dad."
Hibana, in her innocent and whispering tone, responded, "We can’t help; the Onimon are too powerful."
Hikaru, determined and still whispering, exclaimed, "There must be something we can do. I know, we can go to mom for help."
As they continued to whisper, the third Hanshu clashed blades with Taberu. Taberu and Hanshu's speeds were almost the same, despite Hanshu's Supidome, which made him slightly faster. The other two sisters watched with smirks on their faces.
Fukitsuke spoke softly to Hikaru, his voice barely a whisper: "You're right, Hikaru. You can tell her that it's urgent."
Nonkina chimed in, her tone as laid-back as ever: "This is bound to work if we tell her the Hanshu is in danger."
As the group deliberated their plan, Burenda, growing bored of watching the battle, decided to intervene. With a flick of her sword, she unleashed a fiery wave towards Hanshu. The Hanshu, in a display of incredible speed, activated his pressure technique, pressure 1000x boosting his movements a thousandfold. With this newfound speed, he deftly deflected Taberu's blade and hurled a Kuro wall kunai to the ground, creating a wall of black flames that countered Burenda's hellfire wave.
Hikaru, his voice filled with fiery determination, whispered, "Me and Hibana will watch Dad fight. Take this; it's a message in my handwriting."
Fukitsuke nodded, his loyalty shining through in his tone, "Me and Nonkina will head back to the village to look for Lady Kasai."
With their roles determined, Nonkina and Fukitsuke silently departed from the outskirts of the village, which is part of the Grand Forest, on their quest to find Lady Kasai in the village.
Hibana, her tone filled with wonder, couldn't help but comment, "Hikaru, you look a lot like Daddy, except you're not 5'8. Both of you have jet-black hair in a short ponytail, and his left eye is the Supidome. His face is smooth, just like yours, except for the cut mark on his cheek. And you both have dark white skin."
Hikaru nodded in agreement, pointing out their similarities, "You're right, Hibana. You look like Dad as well. You have thin eyebrows, just like him, maple-colored lips, and his right eye is the Yosonome. The only real difference is his outfit. He wears a black ninja outfit woven from black diamonds. The black Hanshu vest he wears is enchanted, allowing him to use the Dengen from the previous Hanshus."
As the siblings observed the intense battle between their father and the Akuma Hell sisters, Neko made her move. She struck her staff on the ground and chanted, "Legion of fire, manifest into beasts with manes!" Her incantation summoned a legion of fiery lions, which caused thousands of fiery lions to thundered towards the Hanshu.
Swiftly, the Hanshu deflected Taberu's blade with his own, buying him enough time to execute a pressure kick at 100 times the normal speed, sending Taberu hurtling through the forest. In the same instant, he turned to unleash a grand Kuro breath, a torrent of black flames that incinerated everything in its path. The fire lions were no exception, colliding with the black fire and extinguishing each other.
Hibana, her voice filled with hope, murmured, "I hope Nonkina and Fukitsuke get back soon."
Nonkina and Fukitsuke moved stealthily through the shadows, avoiding the menacing Onimon that roamed the area. The urgency of their mission weighed heavily on their minds.
Fukitsuke, his voice calm but tinged with uncertainty, wondered aloud, "I wonder if Lady Kasai will listen."
Nonkina, in a relaxed and confident tone, reassured him, "Don't worry, we have the letter with Hikaru's handwriting. That should grab her attention."
As they silently traversed the dark, hidden alleys of the village, their keen eyes caught sight of a ninja clad in silver gloves adorned with the Kasai mark. The figure exuded an air of strength and authority.
Fukitsuke, with his calm demeanor, observed, "That ninja must be Hikaru's and Hibana's mother."
Nonkina, her voice charming and filled with curiosity, concurred, "Indeed, she certainly bears a striking resemblance to them. She looks almost like a carbon copy of Hibana, except for her hair standing upright and those distinctive white eyes."
Fukitsuke, his calm tone laced with certainty, continued, "The ninja is also significantly taller than Hibana, which aligns with the description of their mother. However, I was able to identify her by her weapon. Her sword is positioned horizontally across her back and has a blade made of pure white diamond. Only a high-ranking Kasai ninja could have crafted such a weapon."
Nonkina, her tone relaxed, agreed, "You're probably right. It's about time we introduced ourselves. It seems she has successfully dealt with all the Onimon that were attacking the village."
Once inside, they unleash their intense heat, reducing the Onimon's insides to ashes and vanquishing the menacing foes.
