When the bell rang, I packed up my textbooks, brought out my lunch, and went to Sophie’s table.
Seeing as I approached her, she began to do the same too, meanwhile, I took an empty chair from a vacant table and placed it across hers.
Sitting on the chair was a bit awkward since there was little gap for my feet to fit through. If I sat next to her, where the gap was a bit bigger, it’d probably be more comfortable but it was basically the same thing. Besides, the previous class left me tired and I didn’t want to move so, instead I found a better idea.
I laid my head on the table.
As soon as I did that, though, Sophie voiced a complaint, but I simply ignored her. A girl needed to recharge.
Ah, the wooden surface. It felt so nice and cool on my cheek.
I wonder why this felt better than lying on an actual pillow on some occasions? I tried thinking about it, but all I was left with was an unnecessary headache. Needless to say, It’s probably because I’m tired. Yeah, that’s it. But why?
School. It hasn't been fun lately, not that it was much fun to begin with, but too much homeworks, too many tests, and the heat in this warm weather didn’t certainly help either. Fortunately, this class’s AC worked albeit, barely enough to stop someone from breaking into sweat. That’s why I had to think positively, otherwise that would happen.

With my head down still, I looked at the window. The sky was clear and blue with no clouds in sight. For some reason it made me feel a certain way. Calm? Serene? I don’t know but those words are the closest I could think of.
Sigh. I wished the weekend would come to me already.
“Can you move your head now?”
“Yeah...”
“Like right no–.”
I raised my arm and put my hand in front of her face. As I did that though, evidently, it was putting a strain on my arm.
“Just for a bit… Oh–”
As quickly as I raised my arm, I lost strength in my arm as fast and inevitably slammed onto the table. Hard.
Ow.
This time Sophie sighed quite heavily. Curious, I looked at her for a brief–Oh no.
I felt like if I didn’t sit properly right away, I’d get a punishment or something like a karate chop to the head. So, I wasted no time and straightened my posture. Once I met her gaze, I put on the best forced smile in hopes of calming her down.
“I-I’m up now, see! I’ll stop–” out of nowhere, I was met with a solar flare right to the base of my eye.
I yelped in pain and quickly shut my eyes. After rubbing them for a few seconds, I opened them, and I was met with two Sophie’s now sitting in front of me.
“You… Your glasses attacked me!”
It was true. At the very last second, it was as if all the planets in the solar system aligned and suddenly dodged the sun. I saw the glint in her glasses before it nearly blinded me.
“Who are you pointing at? And I literally did nothing. Now stop acting stupid. The entire class is watching…”
Slowly, I turned my head back and laughed weakly. Sorry about that, I bowed my head while I apologized in my head.
Once I met Sophie’s gaze again though, I looked down in total defeat. I completely made a fool of myself.
“Okay… I’ll stop.” I said in a weak tone. I think I was on the verge of crying.
“Ahem. Uh, I-I’m sorry too… Chloe.”
“Why are you apologizing? You did nothing wrong.”
“I-It's nothing! Anyway, Here.”
Hmm? These are? E-Y-E-D-R-O-P-S? Oh, eyedrops. Ah.
I’ve been utterly defeated.
