No Rest for the Wicked

It's the middle of the night, the crews were asleep on the lower deck except for the few who was doing the night shift. The sky was full of stars with the light from the moon illuminating the ship and the sea was calm as it gets, the only sounds that can be heard were the sounds of snoring from below deck and the small waves hitting the hull of the ships.

The crew who was assigned to watch on the crow's nest sat alone on top of the crow's nest with a bottle of rum in his hand, suddenly sounds of something being dragged and slow steps with faint sounds of someone growling came from the deck below him.

Standing up from his seat, he peeks down from the crow's nest and saw a bunch of people walking around the deck, some of them dragging one of their foot while some walking slowly like they have been drinking a barrel of rum each.

'Huh, did the crews partying on the lower deck?' He mused while looking at the people who he assumed his fellow crew members.

Ignoring the people on the deck, he sat back down on the crow's nest and sip his rum. Meanwhile, on the captain's quarter, Marcus asleep with his wife was woken up from the sound of knocking on his door, but the sound didn't sound like someone knocking on it but more like randomly hitting the door.

Getting up from his bed, Marcus put his pants on and grab his sword from the table and walks towards the door, opening the door, his sense of smell immediately assaulted by the smell of rotting flesh, once he slid the door a little bit to peek out, the door got pushed from outside throwing Marcus a few metres across the room.

Marcus didn't expect it to be that strong of a push, because the one who got the strength to throw him back across the room is either Jin or Koujiro, but the two monsters would have yelled at him from the outside instead of knocking on his door.

Standing up on his feet, Marcus expected to see a drunk Koujiro or Jin on his door, but the man who is standing on his doorway is none of the two, the stranger walks into his room while dragging his feet and growling like a heavily drunk man would do.

"Get back to your post," Marcus ordered while sheathing his sword.

The man ignored him and keeps walking, taking a closer look, Marcus realized that the rotting flesh smell is coming from the man in front of him and some of his skins are peeling off.

Moving quickly towards the strange man, Marcus kicked him on the chest making the man flying out of his room. He immediately followed the man outside, once Marcus exited his room and about to chase the man he kicked, he saw that the intruder is not alone and they are currently staring at him like predators looking at their prey.

"Intruders! Prepare for battle men!" Marcus immediately yelled and attack one of the intruders with his sword while the intruders simultaneously moving slowly towards him.

One of the crews who on the night shift ran up to the deck and saw his captain is fighting a group of intruders, running towards the alarm bell, he grabbed the rope that attached to the bell and rang the bell a few times before helping his captain.

*ding …. ding …. ding …. ding …. ding*

The bell rang five times waking up the crews. Jin who was asleep on his crow's nest on the Queen Anne's Revenge woken up from the bell sounds and immediately grabbed his rifle then aim towards the Flying Dutchman.

The rest of the crews immediately wake up and rushing to the deck then fight the strange group of people, they would cut them, shot them on the head, but their opponents keep getting back up and attack them with a hole in their head and body.

Meanwhile, on the Queen Anne's Revenge stern, Koujiro watching the battle while sitting on the railing, a bottle of sake on his right hand and a cigarette on his left with a box full of dolls on the floor, giggling from watching Jin and Marcus confused face, he keeps watching the fight while moving and healing his zombies through the voodoo dolls.

A half-hour has passed since the Flying Dutchman's crews were fighting the zombies, the zombies kept healing every time they got cut down or shot. Because the two sides are immortal and basically can keep fighting forever, the crews tried to disabling them instead, but the zombie's strength is surprisingly quite monstrous.

Getting tired by the endless fight, Jin being the only one who is not immortal put down his rifle and climb down from his crow's nest going to his captain's cabin to ask for his help. When he landed on the deck, he can see his captain sitting leisurely on the railings while holding a doll on his hand, a bottle of sake on the other and a cigarette hanging on his mouth.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"Capt, why the fuck are you playing with a doll?" Jin walked up to the stern.

"Oh hi Jin, remember about the voodoo books I told you back on the island?" Koujiro put down the doll and take another from a box below him.

"Uhh yeah, is this your doing?" Jin takes one of the dolls from the box and examines it.

"Uh-huh, I just finished making the last zombie and take them out for a test, they're surprisingly strong, I just have to get rid of the smell and peeling skin and maybe find a way to make them able to heal by themselves." Koujiro shrugged while repairing the broken dolls.

"I thought we were being attacked, I guess I'll join you watching them fight then, both sides are immortal and can fight forever anyway, I need a normal crewmate *sigh*" Jin sighed then sat beside Koujiro and took out a cigarette from his pocket.

A few hours later, the sun is peeking from the horizon about to rise, they still fighting nonstop from midnight until now, the crews keep trying to restrict the zombies, but every time they succeed the zombies easily broke free with their brute strength. Koujiro was planning to end the fight once he satisfied by the zombies' performance, but he fell asleep on the deck while watching and Jin didn't know that his captain planned to stop the fight just keep watching the fight by himself.

Once he sees the sun on the horizon, he realized that he lost track of time, then slapped his captain's head to wake him up and he did wake up from his sleep and look around to find out where he is while rubbing his eyes.

"Uuh, what the fuck, I fell asleep on the deck." Koujiro stands up and does some stretching then takes out a cigarette and lit it up.

"Pfft, they are still fighting?" Koujiro choked by the smoke when he saw that the sun is about to rise and the crews still fighting his zombies.

He leapt to the Flying Dutchman and landed on the railing.

"Stop! Get back to the ship." Koujiro yelled to his zombies once he landed on the Flying Dutchman's railing.

The zombies instantly stopped and started to walked back to the stern of the Flying Dutchman and jumped to Koujiro's ship while the crews were dumbfounded by what the fuck just happened. They have been fighting the zombies all night and suddenly the zombies just stopped like that after hearing Koujiro's orders.

It took a few seconds for the crews to register what is happening, then they realized that they have been pranked by Koujiro.

"What the fuuuuck man!" The crews yelled at the same time expressing their annoyance, they keep yelling and complaining to Koujiro because he just made them fight the endless fight even though they don't get tired for the whole night while Koujiro just grinning to the boys still standing on the railing.

"Alright …. Alright, back to your posts men." Marcus calmed down his crews then they dispersed to their own post while still grumbling and cursing at Koujiro under their breath.

"Soo that's where all the captives went, have fun watching us capt?" Marcus approached Koujiro and asked him.

"Hehe, just a new hobby I picked up, see you later Marc." Koujiro jumped back to his ship after the last zombie entered his cabin and then went inside his cabin to improve his zombies further.

The zombies he just created only able to follow simple orders, he needed a few materials to do the rituals that will make his zombies at least able to think by themselves and do chores around the ship. If he wants to create an advanced zombie that has its own consciousness, he needs a willing alive volunteer.

Locking up himself in his cabin, he keeps experimenting to make at least a functioning zombies that able to act as his crews, after a few days and countless corpses from merchant and pirate ships the crews pillaged, he succeeded creating twenty zombies that able to thinks by themselves and do chores around the ship and fifty zombies that only able to fight even though only with punching and biting their enemy, but their poor fighting ability compensated by their brute strength and durability, he also managed to get rid of the rotting smell and decaying flesh after he got some materials from the ship the Dutchman's crew pillaged.

Getting out from his cabin for the first time after a few days of experimenting with the zombies, he breathes in the fresh air and does some stretching before jumping into the sea making one of the crews on the Flying Dutchman yelled ….

"Man overboard!" Someone yelled from the Flying Dutchman after catching a glimpse of a man fell into the sea.

"Keep going! It's captain Koujiro, he's just going for a swim." Jin yelled back from his crow's nest. The two ships keep sailing side by side with Koujiro following them with ease.

"Rope!" Koujiro yelled from the side of his ship after a few minutes of swimming.

One of the zombies threw down a rope for Koujiro to climb on, grabbing on the rope, he climbed up the side of the ship and board it in two seconds.

"Aaah, that's a nice exercise," Koujiro said while stretching his body.

His ship is now fully operated by his twenty zombies that able to do chores around the ship with the exception of Robert still as the ship's Sailing Master, the fifty basic zombies are stored on the lower deck where the hammocks are because the zombies basically have unlimited energy, they don't need to sleep and can operate the ship 24/7 nonstop.

Walking upstairs to the stern area where the helms at, he pulled out a beach chair from his inventory and a freezer box full of fresh cold beers inside it. Putting the chair down near the railing and the box beside the chair, he laid down on his back and opened a bottle of fresh beer, enjoying the fresh sea air with a fresh cold beer, he fell asleep on the beach chair after a few bottles of beer.

"Laaaand Hooo!" The man on the Dutchman crow's nest yelled waking up Koujiro from his sleep.

"We're here capt, Polestar island," Robert said from the helms after noticing his captain that just woke up.

"Polestar island, the last island on the east blue before we climb the reverse mountain, go around the island and dock the ship somewhere the Marine can't find us, coordinate with the Dutchman." Koujiro grinned seeing the island far on the horizon and walked down to his cabin.
