[end report]
"what in the fuck" Fitz shouted after being abruptly awakened by the lines intruding on his eyelids. His eyelids were the final defense against anything he couldn't get away from, and in a household where privacy was a premium, he could rarely afford it; they came in handy more times than he could count. Then, finally, starting to read the blasted text, pausing 21 anomalies, which gave him pause; he had known his health was terrible. The only way he made it through the government-maintained combat training was spite, bitterness, and rage; well, that and he was good at shooting, so they placed him in a more weapon-centric track. Even then, barely scraping by was not an uncommon occurrence.
The physical combat trainer, Mr. Hodge, absolutely loved to scream at him unjustly, If you asked him. Anyway, he returned to looking at the text; what did any of this mean? He tried looking at it, but nothing happened; he moved his fingers around, and it responded intuitively. He tried taping his finger against his palm, and it worked! More text appeared
[based on the amount of rare and exotic materials stored, several new implants can be manufactured]
bone marrow replacement
the fabricator will begin to manufacture nanobots, which will migrate to the bones and assist stem cells with their tasks; it has the added benefit of slightly reinforcing bone structure. Warning until other implants are created, this implant can only help the body make cells; it can't manufacture specific cells to improve body performance. It takes six months to complete all necessary nanobots.

nervous system filaments
adds filaments to the nervous system with junction boxes in significant intersections. It improves general responsiveness but has no direct effects and acts as a link betwen networked implants. It takes two weeks to complete and prioritizes more commonly used areas first.
improved muscular structure
adds electromechanical structures to muscles improving strength while also adding nanobots to act as controllers for organic muscles improving the expansion and retraction rates. Gradual integration over four weeks
somatic nervous system
adds a powerful computer to the base of the spinal cord, takes signals from the brain, and processes faster and more effectively. This results in superior fine motor control and reaction speed, which improves with time as the predictive algorithms gather more data. It has a more significant effect when networked with other implants. Primary processor completed over four weeks, network integration over two weeks if available.
sub mind
fabricates a network of quantum computers and memory banks throughout the body, linked directly to the brain, and accessed directly through the hud; they can act as mental calculators, memory banks, multitasking processors, and many other functions aside from a regular computer. Warning this is the most complex implant and, as such, will take the most time to complete, a full year; however, the first effects will be noticeable within a week as the first cluster is completed.
Well, now all of that sounded awesome; implants were not exactly common but not unheard of, especially for the military. Fitz had seen a special ops team with many implants, though they seemed far more rudimentary. On the other hand, all the implants he had available seemed highly refined. They all had many applications and benefits, but one stood above the rest; the sub-mind was so versatile that it had to be a priority. The main academic issue he had right now was his memory; it affected him the most.
Fitz navigated the menus of text to select the sub-mind. Most likely, the time stated in the descriptions was mainly the time needed to integrate it into his body, not the necessary time to manufacture everything so he could have multiple going simultaneously. He selected the sub-mind option only to get this response.
[warning storage device only contains enough elements to complete one implant]
Well, that was ok; presumably, he could gather more materials later. So, acknowledging the prompt, Fitz met him with another one.
[the storage plane contains a number of volatile exotic materials that will only last a few days. Would you like to integrate them into the new implant to improve performance?]
Now that was something he had to consider. It was evident that these elements were not something he could get quickly, if at all. But wait, that was something interesting.
"Hey, implant, can I get new elements and materials?" Maybe asking it would work.
[yes, new elements are created in the molecular refinery by breaking atoms into base protons, neutrons, and electrons, then combining them into new needed elements; this is what creates the needed energy to run all nanomachines and the larger more energy-intensive implants]
Holy shit, holy shit, that. That. No way; how did that work? It would be the most impressive technology ever made if it were real. It would be a fusion and fission reactor that didn't need unstable elements to operate and could harvest the resulting partials too!
"you're joking, right? So how does that work."
[no, that was not a joke. It was a statement of fact. The information on how it redacted]
[the creator left this message if you tried to access that information]
"Hello again; if you are the type of person I think you are, you should be accessing this information soon after you awaken. I am sorry I can't share that information with you. It would make things too easy for you, maybe after you progress further."
Shit, well, that sucks. he was hoping to make a shit load of money selling that to the military. Oh, well, he would need to find another way to make a fortune.
"hey, implant, how do you gather materials anyway."
[elements are gathered in low numbers throughout the body. Usually, minerals the body cannot use. More can be collected in the specialized implant. Input port]
Well, that was good to know, but he had been putting it off for far too long. he selected the sub-mind implant and the exotic element upgrade.
[confirmed construction in progress. ETA 8 days]
And that was it, no fan fair, nothing. He expected it to be more impressive, but nothing happened.
