The buzz chatter filled the classroom as Yuuki settled his seat. It was only the second day of school, but already it felt like they were falling into rhythm.
He glanced over at Rena, who caught his eyes and gave him a small, shy smile that made his heart skip a beat. He quickly turned his head to the opposite of Rena. "That was dangerous. Could have died from heart attack."
Suddenly, the classroom door slid open, and a hush fell over the room. A girl Yuuki hadn't seen for years, yet recognized instantly- Losi. Her dark hair swayed as she walked, and her confident stride drew every eye in the room.
"Class, we have a transfer student joining us today," the teacher announced. "Please welcome Losi Tanaka."
Losi eyes scanned the room, and when they landed on Yuuki, a mischievous smile played on her lips. "Hello, everyone," she said, her voice carrying a hint of playfulness. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you all."
Yuuki felt a strange emotions washed over him. "Surprise seeing his old crush, an attraction he once felt, and an immediate sense of guilt as he thought of Rena. He shook his head slightly, trying to clear his thoughts.
As Losi took the empty seat two rows ahead of him, Yuuki couldn't help but notice how several boys in class were already vying for her attention. She fielded their questions and compliments with ease, her laughter ringing out occasionally.
Throughout the morning, Yuuki found his attention divided between the lessons, sneaking glances at Rena, and being acutely aware of Losi's presence. When the lunch bell finally rang, he felt a sense of relief.
As he was packing his things, a familiar voice called out. "Yuuki! Long time no see!"
He looked up to find Losi seating on his desk, the same playful smile on her face. "Hey, Losi," he managed, trying to keep his voice casual. "Welcome back, how have you been?"
"Oh, you know me" she said with a wink. "Always keeping things interesting. We should catch up sometimes, yeah?"
Before Yuuki could respond, he felt a presence behind him. Rena had appeared, her expression mix of curiosity and something else he couldn't quite read.
"Hi," Rena said, her voice polite but with an undercurrent of... was that tension? "I'm Rena. You must be Losi. Welcome to our class."
Losi eyes flicked between Yuuki and Rena, and for a moment, Yuuki saw something in her gaze. Then, it was gone, replaced by her usual charm.
"Nice to meet you, Rena." Losi replied. "I hope we all can be good friends."
As the three stood there, the tension in the air was palpable as Yuuki glanced at Rena and Losi. He opened his mouth to say something, anything to break the awkward silence, when his phone suddenly buzzed in his pocket. Grateful for the distraction, he pulled it out to see a message from Kenzo:
"Hey, can we talk? It's about Akiko. Meet me at the cherry blossom tree after school?"
Yuuki looked up from his phone, his mind now split between the situation with Rena and Losi, and concern for what Kenzo might want to discuss about Akiko.
"Everything okay?" Rena asked, noticing the change in Yuuki's expression.
"Yeah, it's just Kenzo. He wants to meet after school." Yuuki replied. He turned to Losi. "Sorry, we'll catch up another time. I've got plans after class."
Losi smile didn't falter, but Yuuki noticed a hint of disappointment in her eyes. "No, worries," she said cheerfully. "We've got plenty of time. See you around, Yuuki. Nice meeting you, Rena!"
Rena nodded, her expression unreadable. "She seems... friendly," she said, her tone carefully neutral.
Before Yuuki could respond, the lunch bell rang, signaling their return to class. As they walked to their seats, Yuuki couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions- curiosity about Kenzo's situation with Akiko, lingering surprise of Losi's sudden appearance, and a growing concern on how all this might affect his relationship with Rena.
The afternoon class passed in a blur, with Yuuki's attention divided between the lessons, stolen glances at Rena, and occasional curious looks from Losi. When the final bell rang, he quickly packed his things and headed for the cherry blossom tree where Kenzo was waiting.
As he approached, Yuuki saw his friend packing back and forth, a mix of nervousness and excitement on his face.

"Hey," Yuuki called out. "What's going on? Is everything okay with Akiko?"
Kenzo turned, a smile breaking across his face. "Yeah, actually. Everything's great. Yuuki, we talked things out. Really talked, you know? And... we're giving it another shot. Akiko and I, we're together again."
Yuuki's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, that's... that's great, man! I'm happy for you. How did this happen?"
As Kenzo began to recount his conversation with Akiko, Yuuki listened intently, settling against the trunk of the cherry blossom tree.
"So, we met at the park after school yesterday," Kenzo started, his eyes distant with the memory. "At first, it was awkward. We just sat there, not knowing what to say. But then Akiko took a deep breath and said, 'I'm sorry. I know those words aren't enough, but I need you to know how much I regret leaving.'"
Kenzo's voice softened as he continued, "She told me everything. About her parents' pressure to move, about how scared she was of hurting me. She said, 'I thought a clean break would be easier, but I was wrong. I've missed you every day since.'"
"What did you say?" Yuuki asked, drawn into the story.
"I told her how hurt I was, how angry. But also... how I never stopped caring about her." Kenzo's cheeks reddened slightly. "We talked for hours, Yuuki. About our fears, our hopes. She held my hand and said, 'I know I don't deserve a second chance, but if you're willing, I want to try again. This time, I promise to face our problems together.'"
Kenzo's eyes shone as he described their reconciliation. "And then, under that sunset, with the park empty except for us, I kissed her. It felt like coming home, you know? Like all those years apart just melted away."
He sighed contentedly. "We're taking it slow, but we're officially together again. She's even coming to sit with us at lunch tomorrow."
Yuuki blinked, processing the detailed account of such an intimate moment. After a beat, he replied with a hint of amusement, "Creepy..."
Kenzo's eyes widened in surprise, then he burst out laughing, playfully shoving Yuuki's shoulder. "Hey, you asked!"
Yuuki's laughter joined Kenzo's, the tension of the past few days finally breaking. As their chuckles subsided, Yuuki's expression turned more serious.
"I'm happy for you, man," he said, giving Kenzo a friendly pat on the shoulder. "It's good to see you sorting things out with Akiko."
Kenzo nodded, his eyes reflecting a mix of hope and determination. "Thanks. It won't be easy, but I think it's worth trying."
As they sat in companionable silence for a moment, the cherry blossoms swirling gently around them, Yuuki's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and smiled softly.
"Everything okay?" Kenzo asked, noticing his friend's expression.
"Yeah, it's just Rena," Yuuki replied, his tone casual but warm. "She wants to meet up later."
Kenzo's eyebrows raised slightly, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "Oh? You two have been spending a lot of time together lately."
Yuuki hesitated for a second, realizing he hadn't told Kenzo about the change in his relationship with Rena. He decided it was time to come clean. "Actually, Kenzo, there's something I should probably tell you..."
Kenzo leaned forward, intrigued. "What is it?"
"Rena and I... we're dating now. We have been for a couple of weeks."
Kenzo's eyes widened in surprise, his jaw dropping slightly. "Wait, what? You and Rena? When did this happen?"
Yuuki couldn't help but chuckle at his friend's shocked expression. "It kind of just... happened. We were studying together one night and, well, things just clicked."
"Wow," Kenzo said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I can't believe I didn't notice. I guess I've been pretty wrapped up in my own drama."
"Don't worry about it," Yuuki assured him. "We were keeping it low-key at first. But now that you know..." He grinned mischievously. "Maybe we could double date sometime?"
Kenzo laughed, still processing the news. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I need to get used to the idea of you two together first!"
As Yuuki stood up to leave, Kenzo called out, "Hey, Yuuki?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm happy for you, man. Really."
Yuuki nodded, a warm smile on his face. As he walked away, Kenzo leaned back against the tree, closing his eyes and letting the gentle spring breeze wash over him.
