Chapter 2.1: Atomic Revelations
Not Laws System
The trio walked through the train depot, their steps echoing in the cavernous space. Mefiel paused, his rings spinning with curiosity, breaking the silence.
“So... everything is allowed?” he asked, his voice carrying a mix of innocence and apprehension.
Monica and Alexander exchanged glances before looking back at him.
Mefiel continued, “I mean, I was created not too long ago and don’t really know the laws of this place. I know rape is legal, but what other things are allowed?”
Monica answered bluntly, “Clearly everything is allowed.”
Mefiel’s eyes widened in shock. “Everything? Even incest?”
Alexander nodded casually. “Yep, it’s normal and legal.”
“And drugs? Race trafficking?”
Monica chimed in, “Also allowed.”
Mefiel’s shock grew. “Cannibalism? Torture?”
“Completely legal,” Alexander confirmed.
Mefiel’s voice trembled. “Polyamory? Sacrifices?”
“Legal,” Monica said with a shrug.
Desperate now, Mefiel asked, “Is there anything illegal here?”
Monica and Alexander exchanged another glance before answering in unison, “Defying the government, causing trouble for the government, and stealing resources from the government. That’s it. Everything else is allowed—even devouring children.”
Mefiel shook his head in disbelief. “This place is paradise... for degenerates!”
The two bristled at the comment. “Hey, that’s offensive. We’re completely normal people,” Monica protested.
Mefiel rolled his multiple eyes. “Of course. Normal...”
An awkward silence hung in the air until Mefiel changed the subject. “Anyway, Alexander, could you explain why you were selling your technology as if it were toys? Wouldn’t that give any opponent an advantage if they reverse-engineered it?”
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Psychic Revelations
Alexander smirked and opened a psychic communication channel. “Can you hear me?”
Monica’s eyes widened. “Uh, yes, I think so?”
Mefiel’s rings vibrated. “This is the first time I’ve heard voices in my rings.”
Alexander continued, “Okay, to answer your question: yes, I sell my technology, but unlike every other inventor, my creations have no patterns to track.”
Both Monica and Mefiel’s eyes widened further. “What? They don’t follow any logic?”
“Exactly. My technology is completely relative. For example, two seemingly identical guns could fire projectiles at completely different velocities, trajectories, or even forms. One might fire lasers, another sound waves. Each shot behaves unpredictably, sometimes phasing through walls, sometimes exploding on impact.”
Monica and Mefiel exchanged a look of amazement. “So that’s why you’re not afraid to sell your technology. It’s completely untraceable.”
Alexander nodded. “Exactly. That’s why no one knows how to find me.”
Monica tilted her head in thought. “So why did those police officers come to the apartment?”
“Do you mean Juarez and Ramirez?”
“No,” Monica clarified, “the ones you turned into hamburgers.”
Alexander smirked. “Ah, Gutierrez and Godinez. I saw their plates. If I had to speculate, it’s probably related to Double Dragon.”
Monica and Mefiel groaned. “Those guys again.”
“Exactly,” Alexander said. “It makes sense if you think about it. They must have paid those officers to raid the apartment.”
Monica nodded. “Makes sense now that you put it like that.”
Alexander grinned. “Anyway, their plan failed, and we beat the officers.”
Monica smirked. “If by that you mean turning them into hamburgers, then yes, you won.”
Alexander laughed. “Devouring danger, Monica. Devouring danger.”
The Unexpected Reward
The group moved deeper into the warehouse, their steps cautious but purposeful. Alexander activated a console embedded in the wall. A shimmering barrier flickered and vanished, revealing what lay behind it.
Instead of the Radiation Armor they expected, an Atomic T-Rex stood towering before them, its glowing, pulsing body radiating energy.
“What? So that’s what they meant by Radiation Armor in the database files,” Alexander said, scratching his head.
Monica blinked. “What the hell?”
Mefiel’s rings spun wildly. “Okay, this is really unexpected.”
Alexander shrugged. “A reward is a reward, no matter what it is.”
Monica’s curiosity got the better of her. She pressed another button on the console. Another barrier shimmered and disappeared, revealing yet another Atomic T-Rex.
Alexander and Mefiel cheered in unison. “Double prize!”
Grinning, Alexander grabbed the two massive creatures, broke a hole in the train wall, and loaded them into a holographic vehicle parked nearby. “Get in. Let’s head back to the mansion with our prizes.”
Mefiel and Monica exchanged a look before climbing into the car. As it sped away, Mefiel spun his rings excitedly. “This is prehistoric! We got dinosaurs!”
Monica leaned toward Alexander and whispered, “Should we tell him that Technosauruses are common here?”
Alexander whispered back, “Nope. Let him have fun. A little excitement never hurt anyone. Besides, these Technosauruses are unique. Tell me, have you ever seen a Technosaurus made of atoms?”
Monica considered this and smiled. “No, I haven’t.”
“Exactly,” Alexander said. “So they’re unique enough for Mefiel to be excited.”
Monica chuckled. “Fair enough, Vossy.”
The vehicle roared forward, carrying its unusual cargo toward the mansion on the island. The adventure was far from over.
