No one knows where dragons come from but everyone agrees that they first appeared about 100 years after the worlds rebirth. It is believed that, like all other fauna, they were nearly wiped out in the rebirth. Their were no-more than 50 and were small being unintelligent.
Some experts believe dragons came out of the dead lands but as no life can exist their it is far more likely that dragons came from caves deep beneath the earth. This would explain how dragons were not caught up in the rebirth as most of today's fauna came through the rebirth by going underground just as men and their domesticated animals did.
Upon leaving their caves, dragons spread out looking for food. It is likely they are responsible for the extinction of several species owing to their voracious apatite. Only after consuming large amounts of animals and people were they able to, over time, grow to the size they can be seen today.
The dragon is not to be confused with the half dragon. The name "half dragon" is a misnomer as their circumstance is the cause of genetic mutation. This unfortunate condition has led to the belief that dragons can and do mate with people. This notion is a perversion against the gods therefore the gods have not allowed it.

When food is plentiful the dragons breed every few years having small litters. When food is not plentiful the dragons will not breed at all. This has led to the conclusion that the dragon population can be controlled by controlling its food source. Their are conflicting arguments however as this would also lesson food availability for humans and their domesticated animals.
Some experts believe that dragons themselves can and should be domesticated. Their overall ability to fly and breathe fire are coveted by the military while their ability to fly and their tremendous strength make them ideal for manual labor. However all attempts at domestication have failed. It is believed that dragons simply dont have the intelligence required for domestication.
