It was a normal day for Me I got up and took a shower. Thoughts of sadness and loneliness looming over me like a dark cloud. I hear a faint yell. I realize It's Jennifer, my older sister, yelling from down the hall. Steam filling the room I put a towel around my naked dripping wet torso and went into my room. I put on underwear and a shirt while looking for shorts. My room is a complete disaster. I find a pair of blue jeans. I grab my backpack. It rips and spills papers on my bedroom floor. I quickly pick them up and scurry out the door. I run Downstairs downstairs greeted by a bowl of cereal in a green bowl. I can hear the faint sound of the squeaking tires of the bus coming. I take a few bites and leave carrying my stack of papers. I bolt out the door, some of my papers flying away. I Get on the old and ragged bus and I cringe as it squeaks down the old ragged road.
I arrive at school to see that my friends are patiently waiting by the door. I Say to myself "this is the day that I do it" My friend Emily greets me with a and says "I broke up with Jonna" I have a look of utter shock on my face. I say "Well" I Struggle to find a reply. Jonna was the captain of the football team. Me and Jonna were not very close but they were friends. I arrive in 1st period science where Jonna was. I guess he switched classes I thought to himself as I walked around the room and the only seat was by Jonna I sat down . I glanced up at the board and in bold nearly illegible writing it said " Lab today who you sit by is your partner for the week NO SWITCHING".
"Shit" I thought to Myself "I don't want to put up with this ass all week.
The teacher begins teaching and tells us we will be dissecting frogs and we will have to be careful about how not to hurt ourselves. My mind wanders to how I’m going to tell her. We have been friends for a year now. We both moved from a different city to the Columbus suburbs. We’ve been friends ever since.
“You alive the teacher says”
I shake my head and begin writing the lab report. Jonna starts to say
“Do you want to hear my side”
I cut him off and say
“I’d rather not hear your lies”

He gives me a sheepish grin. He looks back to his own paper and starts working.
“Ok, What happened?” I say to him.
I guess I wanted to know even though I didn’t. He chuckles,
“We just weren't right for each other. No hard feelings.”
“No hard feelings” I mutter under my breath.
The bell ring and we get up he extends his hand for a handshake I look at him with that get the fuck away before I kill you look. He gives me that sarcastic grin that he keeps using. He must find it charming I think to myself. I walk into the locker room. Gym was the third period and I kinda enjoy it. I’m not very athletic but I can hold my own. I see Jonna. I forgot we had gym together. He takes off his shirt. I see his golden brown skin and a line of hair leading down his crotch.
“Like what you see” A person says walking in.
I didn’t recognize him.
“No” I stutter, failing to defend myself.
The entire class laughs.
“Just messing around with you. Im Justin. The new football player.”
I sigh with relief and continue to change. He sits next to me already in gym clothes ready to go. The coach comes in to get us and takes us into the gymnasium.
“The fundamentals of basketball” The gym teacher yells.
Some students smile while others sigh.
“Pick a partner” The coach says
Everyone scrambles to their friends till Justin and I remain.
“Alex New Kid your partners” The coach yells from the other end of the gym.
Justin walks over to me with a basketball in his hands. I ask where he is from. He says DC. I smile. I used to live there I think to myself. He passes the ball to me and I shoot.
“So what is there to do around here” He asks
Well there's a huge mall if you're into shopping. A big movie theater and a few restaurants. Oh and football on friday”. I say
“So not much.” He says jokingly.
“Yeah” I shoot back
He shoots the ball and I retrieve the rebound and I pass it back to him.
“That's all for today” The coach says students go and get changed and now for lunch.
