Hey!
The first draft of the first book is now done! It's reached just over 90k words! I promised in the comments that I would put an update out when it's finished, so here I am :D
I finished it last weekend, and spent a few days going over and giving it an editing pass. For now, I've sent it to some friends and family to get some initial thoughts. I think I'll give it a month or two to get some solid feedback and then I'll figure out how to upload it.
Honestly though, I'm completely lost on how I want to upload it. I know for a fact, I want to upload this draft online for all to read and enjoy/give feedback on, but I'm not sure about chapter cadence. Part of me just wants to just drop the book in its entirety, but given that it's 16 chapters (including 2 prologues and 1 epilogue), I might instead do a small mass release at the start and continue dropping new chapters weekly for 3 months, with the last chapter+epilogue as a mass release as well (the last chapter is 9k words alone lol). Let me know what you think about this, please. I'll take your guys feedback into account on how to approach uploading, but I'm leaning towards the 'mass release - weekly upload for 3 months - mass release' right now.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
After it's uploaded completely (in whatever form that might be), I'll take all the feedback and do another editing pass, then send to an editor and look for agents and publishers to see about traditional publishing.
In the meantime, I'm going to start work on the second book. Whatever edits I'll need to make to the first one that'll impact the second one I'll just have to live with and edit both, because I don't want to deny my desire to continue writing this story.
With that, I'll go dark for a month or two while I clean the story up.
As always, thank you for reading! Take care all :D
