Prologue v1.0 ~ ‘Resolve’

Prologue v1.0 ~ ‘Resolve’

Under the frigid gaze of a cloudless sky, two figures danced about in violent patterns, churning the barren ground asunder into flurries of blackened snow and ashen rain. The larger of the two suddenly slammed two massive fists into the earth, causing it to undulate in catastrophic waves around its epicenter. However, the smaller figure, now wreathed in crimson-cobalt flames of tangible smoke, continued its mad rush towards its opponent as if unperturbed by the rampaging tsunamis of soot, debris, and soaked terra. It took but a few seconds for both figures to make contact once more - the smaller of the two had drilled gaping holes through the waves to engage the bigger entity once again in a linear, direct path.

Just as quickly as the waves - and battle - had occurred, they terminated themselves without any further commotion. Silence returned once more, filling in the wounds left behind in the ground by the resulting carnage. The cries of the devastated earth evinced through the now-present gusts of icy winds remained unheeded as the sole survivor of the conflict trudged through the destitute lands, uncaring of anything and everything around it. The figure, tiny in comparison to the hills of dust and chaff permeating the area, slowly ambled through the terrain, pushing aside and occasionally walking through piles of debris.

It eventually reached the corpse of the massive beast that had been blown far away by their final contact. However, when the figure was within striking distance of the corpse, it hurriedly went on to bisect and dismember the beast’s appendages as well as its head.

“...Just to make sure..,” the figure muttered before plopping itself down on the arid soil and resting its back against the brumal, white-furred corpse.

For an unknown period of time, the figure quietly observed its surroundings and the nighttime sky as dark violet clouds gently floated underneath a binary moon system and biting winds carried along with it mounds of the wreckage left behind by the fresh battlefield. Hands clasped together, the figure wrapped its arms around its legs and stared at the two moons hung in the sky, marveling at the unique sight presented before it despite having witnessed such a scene every night.

Gradually, the breeze picked up and the two satellites dimmed, leaving a momentarily disheartened expression on the figure’s face. But before their light truly vanished, the figure raised up a hand, cupped it in the direction of the ruby and canary colored moons, and softly whispered,

 “Soon.”

It clenched its hand into a fist of determination.
