The cave was damp and cold. Green moss covered the walls and ceiling of the network of caves. Glowing mushrooms that dotted the wall provided light to these depths. Pucci was marking certain rocks with one of their daggers. It seems they has a mind unlike their colleague, who was wandering about without a care in the world. Countless times we had to save him from a fall. Fucking muscule brain.
The lizard whose appearance was close to a geeko looked quite uncomfortable. Like all reptiles, they could not produce their own heat. The only thing that was keeping them going was a weak ball of fire floating in their hand. So they can use magic huh? Oddly, magic use was not very acceptable to use here to the extent that you could not even mention it. Most grown ups say it is to avoid infighting or something. Perhaps this is why the priest took them under their wing as an interesting anomaly.
These caves are endless. Despite being quite large, finding a golem wandering about in here is like finding a needle in a haystack. They do have a preference to caverns where they have more freedom of movement but you can also find them patrolling around in the narrower caves.
Three hours passed silently thankfully, yet my bratty companion did not see it the same way. Diego was fuming about the lack of, well, anything in this cave except bugs. It was odd that there were no monsters at all but I am not complaining. Pucci looked even more miserable, the small fireball just was not enough to sustain them. Right as I was about to suggest throwing in the towel for the day and going back, the sound of stomping and rock crumbling appeared faintly. The first to react was the ever so impatient Diego. Within seconds he was gone with the echo of the tip tapping of his running feet the only thing suggesting he was around. In a moment of confusion, Pucci and I paused for several seconds to process everything before we ventured after him.

Just my luck, I was hoping that we would not encounter one.
Diego was fighting savagely with the hulking mass of rock in a small cavern. It seemed to be primarily comprised of limestone rocks with the core hidden somewhere within. It vaguely looked like your standard medieval knight, yet it fought with fists. Shit. This thing is going to be difficult. Diego was hitting it with his halberd continuously while avoiding any hits. While golems tend to be resistant to cutting weapons, the halberd effectively turned into a blunt weapon with the strength of Diego’s swings. Holy fuck. I forgot this was a fantasy world for a moment. The difference between the strong and weak is staggering. I could not even hope to do what he is doing now with my current self.
Pucci went next and pulled out some metal wire and tried to climb up the wall. However, they still looked a bit chilly so they were exceedingly slow. Why did the priest think it was a good idea to send a lizard to the cold underground? The best guess is out of sadism.
The lizard paused for a moment changing its plan before looking at me and gesturing. Did it want me to help? Drawing closer, it handed me one end of the wire as it dropped to the floor. It pointed to some thick looking stalagmites, I see. Tie it around them and make it fall over. Good idea.
The lizard, who had little energy left, had to be dragged over, which was a struggle for myself. While they themself were light compared to other people, the weight of the various tools and resources on them was the main issue. I stripped the various daggers off them until there were two to lighten the load. Reaching our destination, we tied the wire between two of the rock and tightened it well to secure it. Now how to get it to trip. I yelled over to Diego to come over but was only met with a “you do not tell me what to do.”
Since Diego would not listen and Pucci was running on fumes, it looked like I had to do something.
